Chapter 268: The Clan and the Village Coexist in Peace

~6 min read 1,179 words

"Why did you both come?"

In the Hokage Office, Qianshou Feijian saw the two walk in, immediately set aside the documents in his hand and asked.

"Do you speak, or should I?" Lian Ye looked at Uchiha Jing.

"... You speak for me," Uchiha Jing said after a moment's hesitation.

He hadn't wanted to let the teacher know about this, but since he couldn't handle it, he had to come and tell the teacher.

He hoped Teacher Feijian wouldn't target the clan because of the Eagle Faction.

"What exactly is the matter?" Qianshou Feijian couldn't help asking.

Seeing Uchiha Jing's expression, could it be that a mistake was made?

Logically, such a thing shouldn't happen—

Uchiha Jing is an upright person; even if Lian Ye errs, Uchiha Jing would not.

Lian Ye had no idea that Qianshou Feijian was scheming in his mind.

Under Uchiha Jing's tense stare, Lian Ye explained, "Uncle, some members of the Uchiha are inciting the clan to rebel."

Upon hearing this, Qianshou Feijian instinctively looked at the nervous Uchiha Jing.

He finally understood why Uchiha Jing was so frightened—it was because of this matter.

He had known from the start that the Uchiha were dissatisfied with the Hokage, but had never paid any attention to it.

In fact, it wasn't a big deal at all...

As long as the Uchiha Clan doesn't cross the village's bottom line, he'll turn a blind eye.

In Qianshou Feijian's view, the Uchiha tend to produce extremists; since he became Hokage, he has tightened surveillance on the Uchiha, fearing another Madara Uchiha might emerge.

That would only cause irreparable harm to the village, something he does not wish to see.

"Teacher, I'm sorry," Uchiha Jing lowered his head in guilt as he noticed the teacher's gaze.

He lacked the ability to stop the Eagle Faction within the clan, so he needed the teacher to handle it.

"The fault isn't yours," Qianshou Feijian said softly, "I understand the situation; leave the rest to me."

He didn't want his disciple to feel guilty because of the clan's affairs...

"Uncle, you must handle it properly, or the Uchiha will oust you, and you'll truly lose face," Lian Ye's voice drifted.

Uchiha Jing: "???"

He looked at Lian Ye in disbelief, his expression as if saying—

Can such words be said casually?

Only Lian Ye could say that; if anyone else said it, they'd already be restrained by the ANBU.

Qianshou Feijian scowled, glared at him fiercely, "If you have nothing else to do, go back and prepare lunch for me."

The kid seems eager for the Uchiha coup to succeed, huh?

"Understood, Uncle," Lian Ye sighed, reluctantly nodding.

Why does this old kid keep thinking about food all the time?

They're discussing the Uchiha Eagle Faction, yet this old kid makes him go back to cook...

"Alright, you may go back now," Qianshou Feijian waved his hand, signaling the two to leave.

"Let's go, Jing."

Uchiha Jing's face showed worry; he wanted to persuade the teacher to be lenient with the Uchiha, but before he could speak, Lian Ye pulled him away.

After the two left, Qianshou Feijian spoke toward the shadows.

"Call Uchiha Tanaka over."

"Lian Ye, the Uchiha Clan won't have any trouble, will they?" Uchiha Jing asked anxiously.

What he fears most now is a war between the clan and the village.

If such a thing actually happened, he wouldn't know what to do.

After all, the village and the clan hold equal weight in his heart...

One side is the family that gave him life, the other is the village willing to give everything for him.

Whichever side he chooses, he'll feel distressed.

"As long as the Uchiha don't reach the point of launching a coup, there's still room for redemption," Lian Ye comforted.

He knew that within the next few decades the Uchiha wouldn't stage a coup; when they finally did, extinction would be near.

"Understood, Lian Yejun," Uchiha Jing's eyes flashed with resolve, "I will do my utmost to stop the Eagle Faction!"

Lian Ye's words reminded him that if he could persuade the Eagle Faction, the clan's coup wouldn't occur.

Although achieving it is difficult, he won't give up lightly.

"I believe that one day I can eliminate the conflict between the clan and the village!"

Lian Ye watched the confident Jing in silence; in the original, Shisui held this belief and met a tragic end.

Hopefully he won't end up like Shisui...

Uchiha Jing and Shisui Uchiha seem to be in a grandparent‑grandchild relationship.

"Hmm, I believe you can achieve your ideal," Lian Ye nodded, "I'm heading home now to prepare lunch for Uncle."

He wondered whether Jing's secret communication would be discovered by the Uchiha Clan's members.

If exposed, he might be kicked out just like himself.

After all, Jing's actions are seen by the Uchiha as outright treason.

They had just finished the clan meeting, and the matter was already exposed.

If Uchiha Jing gets found out, he'll be in serious trouble.

Lian Ye prayed in his heart for the Mirror, hoping it would not be slain by the Eagle Faction…

Uchiha Clan Territory.

In Uchiha Tanaka's study, the candlelight flickered.

He sat at the desk, his knuckles pounding heavily on the table, his face dreadfully grim.

"Coup? Ha, how foolish!"

The radical speeches from the clan meeting still echoed in his ears—

"The Konoha high-ups are sidelining the Uchiha!"

"We should reclaim the power that belongs to the Uchiha!"

Some even openly suggested launching a coup, and what angered him more was that many clan members actually agreed!

Their actions literally showed no regard for him as Clan Leader.

"These people… think the Uchiha are living too comfortably?" Uchiha Tanaka clenched his fists, his Sharingan involuntarily surfacing in anger, three black Curved Jewels slowly rotating.

At that moment—

"Swish!"

A black shadow silently appeared in the corner of the room, its Mask glinting coldly in the candlelight.

Dark Division!

Uchiha Tanaka's head tightened, a hint of solemnity flashing in his eyes.

The clan meeting had just ended, and the Dark Division arrived… Could it be that the Hokage already knew?

He suppressed the turmoil within, his expression returning to calm, he said lightly, "The Dark Division visits—what business do you have?"

"Uchiha Clan Leader, the Hokage requests your immediate presence at the Hokage Building; there is an important matter to discuss," the Dark Division's voice was low.

Uchiha Tanaka felt a weight settle in his heart, but it showed no sign on his face; he merely gave a slight nod.

"Understood, I'll be there shortly."

The Dark Division nodded, its figure flashing, then vanished without a trace.

The room fell silent again, only the faint rustle of the candle's wavering flame remaining.

Uchiha Tanaka rose slowly, walked to the window, and gazed at the distant Hokage Building, his eyes deep.

"It seems… the clan has a worm within."

No need to think; someone leaked the clan meeting's contents to the Hokage.

As for who, he already had a suspicion in his mind.
