Chapter 340: Preventing the Uchiha Rebellion
Everyone got the position of Hokage Advisor as they had hoped.
Even though Lian Ye had no interest in the position, Tuan Cang still forcefully appointed him as Hokage Advisor.
Perhaps Tuan Cang thought everyone had one, and Lian Ye must not be left out!
In this way, the few who had been friends with Tuan Cang since childhood gained a considerable standing in the Village.
The happiest among them was none other than Uchiha Jing.
He believed that his obtaining the advisor position would ease the clan members' discontent.
In fact, it was indeed so.
The Uchiha Clan's Members learned of it, and much of their inner resentment dissipated.
It seems that Hokage Zhi Cun Tuan Zang is stronger than Qianshou Feijian, at least granting the Uchiha a Hokage Advisor position in the Village.
The Hokage Advisor, by any description, must have real authority, right?
Many clan members harbor fantasies; now that the Uchiha have a Hokage Advisor, it isn't impossible that they could become Hokage in the near future!
The conflict between the Uchiha and the Village seems to be gradually fading.
Uchiha Jing was very pleased with this change, but he dared not tell the clan the truth; his Hokage Advisor role was merely nominal.
He only had the right to advise, not the right to decide.
It was equivalent to being just a staff officer; he could only offer suggestions, and whether they were adopted was the Hokage's business.
Fortunately, the Uchiha Clan's Members did not press further and all assumed the Hokage Advisor possessed real authority.
This elevated Uchiha Jing's standing in the family, rising from a previously marginalized figure to now the pride of the Uchiha Clan.
Jing was overwhelmed by the sudden favor, yet felt a bit trembling.
Afraid that the clan members might discover the truth…
Qianshou Feijian Residence.
"You mean you want to be a Hokage Advisor with real authority?" Lian Ye looked at Uchiha Jing with a hint of shock.
When did this guy start caring about the size of power?
In his impression, Jing, like himself, was uninterested in power.
He hadn't expected that after only a few days as advisor, he would become a power‑struggle contender.
As expected, power really does easily corrupt a person's will!
"Well, Lian Yejun, could you help me think of a solution?" Uchiha Jing scratched his head apologetically.
He dared not go to Tuan Cang alone, so he came to Lian Ye to brainstorm.
He didn't want the clan to know the truth, which would reignite the family‑Village conflict.
If they could have real authority, such matters could be avoided.
Uchiha Jing told Lian Ye the whole story.
"Do you mean… you want real authority just to stabilize the Uchiha?" Lian Ye's expression was odd.
It seemed he hadn't expected the Uchiha Clan to be so easily satisfied, being placated with just a Hokage Advisor lacking real authority.
Come to think of it, Konoha has already treated the Uchiha well; after their defeat they joined the Village and can even command the police force.
—which can be considered a truly law‑enforcement position!
The families that joined later did not receive such treatment.
Lian Ye had thought their vision was far‑sighted, only to be dismissed by a Hokage Advisor.
The point is, even if they truly had real authority, it would still be far inferior to the Hokage.
"Give you real authority, and you could stabilize the clan?" Lian Ye couldn't help asking.
Weren't those Uchiha shouting for a coup to become Hokage? How is a mere advisor position enough now?
"Since I became Hokage Advisor, the dissenting voices in the clan have gradually vanished," Uchiha Jing smiled, "As long as I have real authority, I believe the clan won't entertain thoughts of a coup again."
These days, the clan members' behavior and attitude have been genuine; their complaints have noticeably decreased.
"You must understand that human desire never satisfies," Lian Ye said, looking at the hopeful Jing, "Now the Uchiha Clan, because you became Hokage Advisor, has temporarily suppressed its discontent."
"But in a few years they will develop greater desires; even if the advisor's real authority grows, it will never surpass the Hokage's power."
"By then, they will once again entertain thoughts of a coup."
Never underestimate human nature and desire!
The current peace is only temporary; in the future, far more intense conflicts will surely erupt.
Hearing this, Uchiha Jing's smile instantly stiffened.
He had never considered this issue; Lian Ye's words were very reasonable.
With his understanding of the clan, such events would happen sooner or later; it's merely a matter of time.
Changing this situation isn't impossible, but the difficulty is extremely high.
That would require a Uchiha to become Hokage!
Uchiha Jing knew very well that such a possibility was vanishingly small.
Unless the Uchiha launch a coup, but then the matter would revert to the original— the fundamental conflict between the family and the Village.
"Lian Ye, I understand," Uchiha Jing lowered his head, clenching his fists resentfully, "but I… want to try!"
As long as he truly holds real authority in the Village, the clan will have a voice.
Then he could use his own influence to dispel the Eagle Faction's extremism!
"Fine." Lian Ye said, without further discussion, "I'll accompany you to find Tuan Cang."
Since Jing has his own ideas, let him go.
As long as a Uchiha is serious about any matter, almost no one can dissuade him.
Rather than waste words trying to persuade, it's better to let him see the truth himself.
Hokage Office.
"You say that giving you actual authority can stop the Uchiha rebellion?" Tuan Cang looked at Mirror with a doubtful expression.
Since he became the Hokage Assistant handling state affairs for his teacher, he has learned about the Uchiha Eagle Faction.
He doesn't think those Uchiha guys would abandon their coup intentions because of this.
"Yes, Tuan Cang, please trust me!" Uchiha Jing said seriously, "I will definitely resolve the Village and the clan's conflicts!"
"Please!"
Tuan Cang glanced at Uchiha Jing, then looked at the silent Lian Ye beside him.
After a moment of silence, Tuan Cang finally agreed, "I can grant you actual authority, but you must not disappoint me."
"Thank you, Tuan Cang!" Uchiha Jing said excitedly, "I will never disappoint you!"
From now on, he became the only one among the four advisors who possessed actual authority.
"Hmm, you go back first; I have something to discuss with Lian Ye."
Mirror, hearing this, didn't think further and left the Hokage Office with a joyful expression.
"Do you think he can succeed?" Tuan Cang asked softly.
He doesn't think Mirror can change the Uchiha Clan's situation; it's better for the Hokage himself to handle such matters.
"Who knows," Lian Ye shook his head lightly, "but you can try to trust Mirror, though don't have too high expectations."
If a position with actual authority could stop the Uchiha from rebelling, that old kid Qianshou Feijian would have done it long ago.
Tuan Cang's eyes flickered as he coldly said, "I hope the Uchiha don't do anything out of line, otherwise I will never let them go!"
"It shouldn't happen in the short term," Lian Ye whispered softly.
"Hmph, who can know the specifics?" Tuan Cang snorted coldly.
In his view, the Uchiha rebellion is inevitable; it's only a matter of when.
If that day truly arrives, he doesn't mind eradicating the Uchiha completely!
