Chapter 735: Team 7
Konoha Village, Commercial Street.
The sun shines brightly, and people bustle on the street; the cries of various shops and the chatter of pedestrians intertwine.
It is filled with the vitality and vigor unique to an era of peace.
"The Village is developing better and better."
Lian Ye unusually didn't bask in the sun today, but went out shopping with his good brother.
"Under Ri Zhan's governance, it's indeed good."
Zhi Cun Tuan Zang nodded with satisfaction.
During Ri Zhan's tenure, he worked very hard; the Village's prosperity is inseparable from him.
"Isn't that guy always clamoring to retire?"
At every gathering, Sarutobi Ri Zhan complains about the pain of being Hokage.
He has spoken for so long, yet never retired.
"Perhaps he suffers and enjoys it."
Zhi Cun Tuan Zang smiled helplessly.
If not for his good brother, he wouldn't have retired so quickly to enjoy old age.
In the original plan, he intended to serve as Hokage for thirty years, and consider retirement when he reached his fifties.
But unwilling to see Lian Ye alone, he finally decided to retire early and pass the position to Ri Zhan.
Otherwise, Ri Zhan would still have had no chance to become Hokage by now!
The two wandered aimlessly on the street.
"Kakashi, congratulations on your promotion to Jonin!"
A brown‑short‑haired girl, with a gentle smile on her face, followed the white‑haired youth ahead.
Sincere joy flickered in her eyes.
"Hah, it's just Jonin, what's so impressive. I, the Great One, will become Hokage sooner or later; then we'll see if you can still smile."
The spiky‑haired boy wearing goggles looked so displeased his face almost overflowed with it.
The three are members of Team 7: Kakashi Hatake, Uchiha Obito and Ye Yuan Lin.
Kakashi didn't even turn his head, merely gave a faint acknowledgment.
His signature white hair swayed slightly in the sunlight, the mask covering most of his face, leaving only a pair of dead‑fish eyes exposed.
"You bastard!" Dai Tu instantly flared up, "So arrogant! Rin came especially to congratulate you, and you act like this?"
If it weren't for his inferior skill, he would definitely give the arrogant Kakashi a lesson.
Rin covered her mouth and giggled, "Alright, alright, Dai Tu, Kakashi is just more reserved. Besides, he's truly impressive—became Jonin at twelve, that's a historic record,"
Uchiha Obito's expression looked as ugly as if he'd eaten shit.
He stood up for the girl he liked, yet the girl defended others.
That feeling was indescribably uncomfortable…
"Reserved, what a joke! He's just pretending to be cool!" Dai Tu pointed at Kakashi's back, his face full of grievance, "Look at his walking style; he doesn't regard anyone at all!"
Kakashi finally tilted his head slightly, glanced at Dai Tu with the corner of his eye, and said nothing.
"Hey! What's that look you gave!"
Dai Tu felt Kakashi was looking at him with a dim‑witted gaze.
The fury in his heart was fully ignited; he rolled up his sleeve, ready to rush up and argue.
Rin quickly grabbed him, "Dai Tu, don't do that; so many people are watching on the street."
Actually she was mainly worried Dai Tu would embarrass himself, and with so many onlookers he'd surely lose face.
Unfortunately, his anger clouded his mind, and he didn't understand the girl's meaning at all.
"Rin, don't block me! Today I must make that arrogant guy know that the Uchiha Clan isn't so easy to provoke!"
Dai Tu struggled, but Rin held on tightly.
At this moment, Kakashi actually stopped, turned around, and the corner of his mouth beneath the mask seemed to lift slightly.
"Dai Tu, you're so worked up—do you want to spar with me here?"
Kakashi's tone remained flat, yet a teasing nuance could be heard.
"But let me remind you, the Commercial Street forbids private fights."
"And—"
He paused, his tone even more provoking, "Are you sure you want to tangle with a freshly promoted Jonin?"
"Aaaah!"
Uchiha Obito went completely berserk, broke free from Rin's grip, and charged at Kakashi.
"Don't run, stay still for the Great One!"
Kakashi had no intention to fight; he turned and started running forward.
He wouldn't brawl with Dai Tu on Commercial Street; otherwise being locked up in a detention center would be troublesome.
Rin stood where she was, watching their scuffle, shook her head helplessly, then laughed and chased after them.
"You two, wait for me!"
Obviously their scuffle wasn't a one‑day thing.
Pedestrians on the street turned their heads, watching the three bickering young ninjas, many with kind smiles on their faces.
This is Konoha's younger generation.
Full of vigor and radiating energy!
Dai Tu chased Kakashi for half a block, and was about to catch up.
"Move aside, move aside, I'm going to catch that smelly brat!"
At that moment, Dai Tu ran so fast that he didn't notice anyone coming out of the corner.
"Bang!"
He collided solidly.
"Ow!" Dai Tu landed on his butt on the ground, his goggles askew. He rubbed his throbbing forehead, about to complain, but suddenly froze.
The person he hit was a youth who looked to be in his early twenties.
He had long white hair, a handsome face, and wore a white robe completely unlike Konoha's style.
The youth didn't take a step back; he lowered his head to look at the seated Dai Tu, a flash of surprise in his eyes.
Isn't this kid Uchiha Obito!
He grew so big in the blink of an eye.
In a few more decades, he'll be able to see the Konoha Twelve Young Strongmen.
I have to say, time really flies!
"Are you okay?"
Dai Tu stared blankly at Lian Ye, and for a moment actually forgot to answer.
Although he'd never seen him before, it was clear he was a big figure in the Village.
Lian Ye had always stayed at home basking in the sun; the younger generation had only heard rumors, and few had seen him with their own eyes.
Kakashi also stopped at that moment and turned to look this way.
When he saw Tuan Cang beside the white‑haired youth, his perpetually half‑closed dead‑fish eyes suddenly widened.
Third Hokage, my lord!
That fool Dai Tu really seems to have caused trouble.
"Dai Tu, are you okay?"
Lin just caught up, saw Dai Tu sitting on the ground, and immediately stepped forward to check on him.
Dai Tu finally came to his senses, his face slightly flushed, quickly scrambled up from the ground and brushed the dust off his backside.
"I'm fine, how could I possibly be hurt!"
He turned his head toward Lian Ye and shyly scratched his head.
"Um… sorry, I wasn't paying attention just now, are you okay?"
Dai Tu had been so focused on catching up with Kakashi that he truly didn't see anyone coming out of the corner.
"It's okay."
Lian Ye stared at the little Dai Tu, a look of contemplation on his face.
This kid really is living in a golden age; otherwise this era would have already been crippled by Madara Uchiha.
There's no way anyone could be chasing and roughhousing in the Village.
