Chapter 1811: The Ruins Emerge
When the Heavenly Kings looked with excitement toward the void indicated by Dantai Lan, they saw only an empty horizon; in their perception, there was nothing unusual about that place.
Even the world's spiritual energy merely flowed past peacefully, without stirring the slightest strange phenomenon.
Yet the Heavenly Kings not only did not grow doubtful because of it, but their hearts were instead somewhat steadied, for the fact that it could render even their Heavenly King perception useless was, paradoxically, an extreme abnormality.
Jiang Li Tianwang stared at the void; the divine fruit within the light-mark on his brow trembled, and his pupils gradually turned a jade-green color. Yet even as he drove his divine fruit's rank to its fullest, he still could not penetrate the secret hidden within the void ahead.
From the light-mark on his brow, a beam of divine-fruit rank light swept out, descending to cover that stretch of void.
Vast, boundless might descended, but upon contact with that empty void, it was silently swallowed without stirring the slightest ripple.
Jiang Li Tianwang froze for an instant, then exhaled a breath of relief and, unable to hide his excitement, laughed toward Dantai Lan: "Lan Li Tianwang, thanks to you."
The other Heavenly Kings grew increasingly exhilarated as well; Jiang Li Tianwang's probing strike had all but confirmed the secret of this stretch of void.
That sect's ruins were right before their eyes.
Dantai Lan also quietly let out a breath. Over half a year of ceaseless searching had left her quite weary, but time was pressing now, and no one could afford to stop.
The crushing sense of destruction brought by that "Black Sun Blood Moon" at the edge of the heavens made even Heavenly King-level powerhouses feel as though they could barely breathe—and if even Heavenly Kings were thus, there was no need to mention anyone else.
Now, in many places across the ten Outer Shenzhou, even order itself had begun to collapse under despair.
"Everyone, there's no time to lose—set up the formation."
Jiang Li Tianwang did not hesitate for a moment. At his command, the many Heavenly Kings present summoned their respective ranks, conjuring visions across the heavens; instantly the world blazed bright, and vast, surging rank-power filled every corner.
A grand, long-prepared strange formation unfurled; one Heavenly King after another served as its eye, driving this great formation's power to an utterly terrifying level.
The next instant, the magnificent, boundless rank-power, laden with countless visions, swept mightily toward the void ahead.
Yet this terrifying combined force of many Heavenly Kings, upon colliding with that empty void, was like encountering a bottomless pit—vanishing at a startling speed.
Still, it was not entirely without change.
For the Heavenly Kings could all faintly sense that, as their formation's power descended in an endless stream, a thin white mist seemed to drift out from within that void, only to quietly dissipate.
That white mist was mysterious and ethereal, as though possessed of a power to veil all things.
This sight made the Heavenly Kings even more exhilarated, for it proved their combined force was having an effect. As the mist-like power shrouding the sect's ruins was gradually worn away, the ruins themselves could truly emerge into the world.
So the Heavenly Kings all drove their ranks to their fullest.
In an instant, within this stretch of heaven and earth, the visions grew ever more resplendent.
As for Li Luo, owing to his own condition he did not act; he merely stood atop a mountain peak, gazing at the void being steadily worn away beneath the Heavenly Kings' combined might, his thoughts inevitably somewhat tangled.
Could he truly find, within these ancient ruins, an answer capable of opposing the Dark Sect Master?
Li Luo was not certain of this, but he would spare no effort in striving toward it.
He drew in a deep breath, steadied his thoughts, then sat cross-legged atop the peak to adjust himself.
And the Heavenly Kings, over the time that followed, launched an assault upon that void lasting a full three months.
During those three months, every Heavenly King gave their all; their own ranks, having been pushed to the limit, had grown somewhat dim.
To an outsider, the scene would have seemed rather absurd—the many pinnacle existences of the world bombarding an empty stretch of void for three full months; such behavior was, admittedly, a touch abnormal.
Anyone else, with three months yielding nothing, would long since have been unable to resist giving up.
But fortunately, those who could become Heavenly Kings were all of steadfast temperament; they were not shaken by it, but silently poured out everything they had, numbly spilling rank-power to wear away the void.
Thus, another two months passed.
Just as the Heavenly Kings once more numbly drove their rank-power to spill upon the void, suddenly that stretch of void shuddered violently, and layer upon layer of void began to collapse before their eyes.
As though something immensely heavy had lost its support and was plummeting from deep within the void.
Boom!
After barely a dozen breaths, the void before them had collapsed into a black hole, and from deep within that black hole, a magnificent, towering, ancient beyond measure sect ruin slowly emerged.
And at last stood within this stretch of heaven and earth.
Every Heavenly King ceased pouring in their rank-power, their pupils trembling slightly as they gazed at this colossus that had so abruptly descended.
This sect ruin was vaster and more majestic than any architectural complex they had ever seen; within it, golden halls stretched on and on, like the dragon scales upon a golden giant dragon's body—row upon row, layer upon layer, with no end in sight.
Countless ancient towers rose among them, upon which were inscribed mysterious, ancient scriptures.
A jade-stone stairway led ever upward, and at its summit, a plaque cast as though in gold stood amid the clouds.
Upon it were four ancient characters.
Formless Sacred Sect!
An inexpressible majesty filled this ancient sect ruin; beneath such majesty, even Heavenly King-level powerhouses could not help but feel a sense of awe.
At this moment, awe surfaced in the eyes of every Heavenly King present.
This was the true sect ground of the Formless Sacred Sect.
That ancient sect which, in the river of time, had brought the power of the Outer Shenzhou to its peak—in that era, even the Dark World had been breached by it. Had the "Source of All Evil" not been so bizarre, the chaos of the world might well have been ended by the Formless Sacred Sect's hand.
Such an achievement, such power—no sect or faction of later ages could compare.
Even Heavenly King existences standing at the world's peak spoke of this ancient sect with longing.
And while Jiang Li Tianwang and the others harbored awe, Yan Changsheng and Su Ying could not help but redden around the eyes, gazing dazedly at this familiar sect. Every place within it was, to them, etched into bone and heart.
Through the long ages, how many times had its every blade of grass, every tile and brick, every person and every event flowed through the depths of their hearts.
They had never imagined that one day, they would return here.
After the Heavenly Kings' initial shock and delight, Jiang Li Tianwang led them forward toward the Formless Sacred Sect's ruins, but they soon discovered that, as they drew closer, that ancient sect ruin had begun to tremble faintly.
Upon its towering towers, ancient runes grew resplendent; countless streams of light wove among them, and faintly, within the sect, a sect-protecting strange formation that had slumbered through the long ages was gradually awakening.
A terrifyingly extreme aura flowed out like a tide.
Jiang Li Tianwang immediately halted, his face full of wariness and caution, daring not advance further.
"This is the sect's protective formation sensing the approach of unfamiliar Heavenly Kings, perceiving a threat, so it has awakened from its slumber and activated. At this moment, any Heavenly King not of the Formless Sacred Sect who approaches will provoke a counterattack." Yan Changsheng spoke at this moment.
Jiang Li Tianwang and the others exchanged glances at once; they were Heavenly Kings of later ages, not of the Formless Sacred Sect. Such a massive approach did indeed resemble the opening of a full-scale sect war.
No one dared to underestimate the Formless Sacred Sect's protective formation; even a divine-fruit Heavenly King like Jiang Li Tianwang felt, at this moment, as though a thorn pressed against his back.
This is troublesome. After all the effort it took to find this sect's ruins, the result is that we can't get past the entrance.
"Can the two of you shut down this sect-protecting formation?" Li Li Tianwang asked.
Yan Changsheng and Su Ying were two of the Six Children of Wuxiang, so they should be extremely familiar with the headquarters of the Holy Sect of Wuxiang; at this point, they could only place their hopes in them.
Yan Changsheng and Su Ying shook their heads and said, "Once the sect-protecting formation is activated, only two kinds of authority can shut it down, and both require entering the sect's Jin Dian first."
"One is all Six Children of Wuxiang gathered together."
The Tianwangs frowned. Among the Six Children of Wuxiang in the world today, only Yan Changsheng, Su Ying, and Yin Li Tianwang still survived; gathering all six was clearly impossible.
"What is the second authority?" Li Li Tianwang asked.
Yan Changsheng and Su Ying exchanged a glance, then their gazes turned toward a certain figure and said, "That would naturally be the current Sect Master of the Holy Sect of Wuxiang."
The Tianwangs' gazes also turned toward that figure—it was Li Luo.
And meeting everyone's strange looks, Li Luo gave a somewhat self-deprecating smile.
"Having lost my Wanxiang Seed and Wanxiang Wheel, can I still be considered the Sect Master of the Holy Sect of Wuxiang?"
