Chapter 455: Qin Zhulu Battles Sun Dasheng
Somewhere in the mountain forest.
Boom!
Extremely violent Resonant Power fluctuations erupted within, as tree after tree was uprooted and the earth was torn with deep furrows.
On a hillside, Lu Qinger and Yin Yue watched the battle in the forest with grave expressions. The two figures there radiated astonishing, fierce baleful energy, clashing with one another with the wild, savage intensity of two ancient beasts.
Within the One-Star Hall of the Astral Sage College, only Li Luo, who had begun to reveal the profound mysteries of his dual resonances, could suppress Qin Zhulu, but the battle before them left even Lu Qinger and Yin Yue unable to hide their shock.
Because they discovered that from the very beginning, Qin Zhulu had been suppressed by his opponent.
Even the baleful energy Qin Zhulu prided himself on seemed a notch weaker than the other's.
Lu Qinger's gaze was fixed on the figure opposite Qin Zhulu. There, grayish-white Resonant Power rose like wolf-smoke, and within the billowing energy, one could see a figure whose sturdy build was in no way inferior to Qin Zhulu's. It was a youth with a rugged, even slightly ugly face, holding a golden staff. As the staff swept through the air, the shrill, piercing whistle of wind echoed throughout the entire forest.
At this moment, the golden-staff-wielding youth's face was filled with fanatical battle intent, his eyes brimming with arrogance and ferocity.
"If I'm not mistaken, that person is likely Sun Dasheng from the Holy Mountain College," Lu Qinger said in a low voice, her brows tightly knitted.
Yin Yue's expression changed. She had, of course, heard the name Sun Dasheng; he was listed as one of the top three favorites to win the championship, and his reputation resounded through every college.
"How could we be so unlucky?" she said with a bitter smile. They had run into him shortly after landing. That Sun Dasheng was extremely arrogant and possessed a battle-hungry personality—a point that coincided perfectly with Qin Zhulu. When these two met, the outcome went without saying.
What are you looking at?
I'm looking at you.
Want to fight?
I just want to fight.
And so, they started fighting immediately.
Although the opponent was a top favorite to win, as long as there was a fight to be had, Qin Zhulu didn't care who you were; it was nothing more than a fight to the death.
Thus, the two merely exchanged a glance for an instant, not even bothering to trade names, and the battle began.
Lu Qinger and Yin Yue had no way to help, because Sun Dasheng's teammates were also watching them from not far away—there was even more than one team... but the opponents did not attack them, clearly waiting for Sun Dasheng to have his fill of fighting before coming to deal with them.
The opponents likely guessed they would call for reinforcements, but they seemed to have little fear.
This was normal; after all, with a powerful combatant like Sun Dasheng, they surely had the confidence to clash head-on with any college, provided they didn't run into the Holy Bright King College.
"I hope Li Luo gets here soon. With him here, I imagine that Sun Dasheng wouldn't dare be so arrogant," Lu Qinger sighed.
Yin Yue didn't speak, her eyes still filled with a hint of worry. Although Li Luo was also very strong, this Sun Dasheng was one of the top three favorites to win.
If he came, could he really keep Sun Dasheng in check?
As the two women spoke, on a nearby hillside, two teams from the Holy Mountain College gathered, their gazes locked onto the two women.
"Captain Lu, are we really not going to eliminate them first?" one of the Holy Mountain College members asked.
The leader of the group was a lean, lanky youth. He said with some helplessness, "You know the boss's personality—he has to fight to his heart's content first. Still, that guy over there is quite capable to have stirred up some of the boss's battle intent. If it were anyone else, the boss probably wouldn't have any interest in moving a finger."
"Since the boss has already started, let's just wait for him to finish, lest he complain about us interfering and we get another earful of scolding."
Hearing this, the others could only nod helplessly; they knew their fierce captain's temperament all too well.
All things are inferior, only fighting is satisfying.
Boom!
In the forest, the two figures collided like beasts. The heavy spear and the golden staff transformed into a sky full of afterimages, carrying shrill, fierce winds as they repeatedly clashed in the most savage manner possible.
There was not the slightest bit of retreat.
However, under such hardcore collisions, the golden staff clearly held a significant advantage. With every strike, Qin Zhulu's figure was forced back a step, and blood appeared on the palm gripping his heavy spear.
Yet Qin Zhulu showed not a hint of fear; the fanaticism in his eyes only grew more intense. On the surface of his brawny body, the golden tiger markings became brighter and brighter, and his eyes turned blood-red.
Every strike was accompanied by an ancient tiger's roar, shaking the soul.
The formidable enemy before him was someone he had almost never encountered before, yet it brought him an unprecedented sense of exhilaration. This feeling was even more satisfying than fighting Li Luo, because even Li Luo wouldn't compete with him in sheer madness.
Qin Zhulu had always thought he was fierce enough, but now he knew there was always a higher mountain; the person before him was fiercer than he was!
This is so satisfying!
Qin Zhulu's eyes were blood-red. He gripped his heavy spear tightly, and fresh blood sprayed out, landing on the spear tip, which instantly turned crimson. The Resonant Power within his body erupted without reservation, directly forming a fierce tiger light-shadow behind him, and monstrous baleful energy swept forth.
"Tiger Demon!"
Qin Zhulu laughed wildly and swung his spear. The demonic tiger light-shadow behind him turned into a stream of light and merged into the heavy spear. Instantly, the spear seemed to become a thousand pounds heavy, causing the very void to tremble slightly, and the earth beneath his feet began to crack with fissures.
Opposite Qin Zhulu, Sun Dasheng sensed the power erupting from that spear strike, and his eyes lit up. He grinned and said, "Not bad, not bad! What a powerful strike!"
Then he took a step forward, and the ground beneath his feet shattered.
Grayish-white Resonant Power roared out from his body, similarly forming a grayish-white giant ape light-shadow behind him. The giant ape was equally violent, its baleful energy in no way weaker than Qin Zhulu's Gold-Devouring Demon Tiger resonance.
Upper Eighth Grade, Stone Ape Resonance!
"Ape King's Three Staffs: Mountain-Moving Staff!"
Sun Dasheng laughed loudly, and the golden staff in his hand whistled out. In that instant, Resonant Power surged, and a light-shadow seemed to flicker in and out of existence. It appeared to be a ten-thousand-foot giant ape, carrying a giant staff on its shoulder, and at one end of the giant staff, it was actually hoisting a mountain.
Boom!
The golden staff whistled, clashing violently with Qin Zhulu's fierce Tiger Demon heavy spear.
An extremely violent Resonant Power shockwave ravaged the area, directly creating a clearing in the forest; everything within that range was completely destroyed.
When the shockwave erupted, Qin Zhulu's figure was sent flying backward, carving a long trail into the ground.
He was covered in blood, but his hand remained tightly gripped around his heavy spear. He panted heavily, and even though his injuries were quite severe, his eyes still held a fanatical battle intent. He stood up bit by bit and laughed toward Sun Dasheng, "Again!"
Sun Dasheng wiped the blood from his palm and looked at the battle-hungry Qin Zhulu with some surprise. "If we keep fighting, you won't be able to hold on."
Although he had also sustained some injuries, they were clearly much lighter than Qin Zhulu's.
"Stop nagging," Qin Zhulu spat out a mouthful of blood.
Sun Dasheng grinned and said, "Fine, then I'll grant your wish. My friend, your strength has earned my recognition. You must be the strongest in the One-Star Hall of the Astral Sage College, right?"
Qin Zhulu curled his lip and said, "Sorry to disappoint you, I am not the strongest."
Sun Dasheng was stunned. "There's someone in the Astral Sage College stronger than you? That can't be."
Although the Qin Zhulu before him had fallen into a disadvantage in their exchange, his combat power was not to be underestimated. If it weren't for his own Resonant Power intensity being a notch higher, if they were to really fight, he would certainly have to pay a great price even if he won.
But hearing what Qin Zhulu said, there was someone even stronger than him in the One-Star Hall of the Astral Sage College?
Wouldn't that mean they could rival him, Sun Dasheng?
But he had never heard of the Astral Sage College producing someone so strong.
Doubts filled his mind, but Sun Dasheng couldn't be bothered to think about it anymore. He gripped his golden staff tightly; time was running out, so he might as well eliminate the person in front of him and start the real mission.
The grayish-white Resonant Power erupted once more.
However, just as Sun Dasheng was about to launch another attack, his pupils suddenly constricted. He looked up and saw that in the forest not far away, a blade light radiating an extremely sharp aura suddenly tore through the sky, slashing down toward his position as fast as thunder.
Sun Dasheng swung his golden staff violently, clashing head-on with that sharp blade light.
Clang!
At the moment of impact, Sun Dasheng's expression changed slightly, because the Resonant Power contained within this blade light was even stronger than Qin Zhulu's earlier. And the strangest thing was that this blade light radiated a powerful piercing force; caught off guard, he was nearly pierced through his own Resonant Power.
Fortunately, he managed to neutralize it completely with his formidable strength.
Then, Sun Dasheng looked toward the direction the blade light came from with a solemn expression. He saw figures leaping out from the forest and quickly descending toward this direction.
Ten-odd seconds later, a slender figure landed in front.
"My friend, if you want to fight so badly, how about you let me play with you?"
Li Luo looked at the brawny person holding the golden staff, then glanced at the somewhat injured Qin Zhulu, and naturally understood the opponent's identity. He smiled slightly, his tone unhurried and without a hint of fear.
Sun Dasheng's arrogant gaze fixed on Li Luo, his eyes lingering on his face for a second before he frowned.
"You look so pretty, can you really fight?"
