Chapter 527: The Black-Armored Figure

Li Luo's figure streaked through the city that was littered with broken walls and ruins.

Far behind him, earth-shattering collisions of energy were erupting, and the shockwaves spreading from them were so intense that even at this distance, Li Luo could clearly sense the heavy pressure they carried.

That was the battle between the Eldest Princess and the Four-Armed Demon-Eyed Serpent.

Judging by this level of intensity, the two sides were roughly evenly matched. The Eldest Princess clearly couldn't defeat her opponent in a short time, and the strange creatures had extremely tenacious life force. If it really dragged on, who could hold out longer was truly uncertain.

So to completely resolve the problem, Jiang Jiang Qinge still needed to step in to aid the Eldest Princess.

And whether Jiang Jiang Qinge could free her hands depended on his side...

Li Luo's thoughts flashed like lightning, and his speed was pushed to the limit. Along the way he occasionally encountered strange serpent creatures at the Calamity Grade, but these serpent creatures were currently trapped by beams of radiant halos, unable to move at all.

And since this place was quite close to Jiang Jiang Qinge, some of the lower-grade strange creatures had been dissolved when the "Guang Yao Zhi Zhong Jie" erupted earlier, which allowed Li Luo to pass through almost unimpeded.

In just a short moment, he reached the designated location.

He swiftly pulled out a Purification Spirit Pearl, then channeled his resonant power into it, activating it with a specific technique. With a flick of his arm, the Purification Spirit Pearl transformed into a streak of light that shot out and embedded itself directly into the top of a towering building.

After finishing this, he continued streaking forward without looking back.

He had to seize every moment of the time the Eldest Princess and Jiang Jiang Qinge had bought him.

Over the next ten minutes, Li Luo went all out, racing to various points within the city, embedding the Purification Spirit Pearls one by one at their designated locations.

Gradually, specks of light began to bloom throughout the city.

However, as Li Luo gradually moved farther from where Jiang Jiang Qinge was, the suppressive force of the "Guang Yao Zhi Zhong Jie" clearly weakened somewhat, so some of the Corrosion Grade strange creatures began to break free from its influence first, and this slowed Li Luo's pace a little.

Sometimes, he had to stop in his tracks to first clear out these incoming strange creatures.

Fortunately, the current him was far stronger than when he had been in the Dark Cavern. The strength of the third Transformation of the Manifestation Stage already made him fear no Corrosion Grade strange creature, so relying on the Profound Elephant Saber in his hand, he could be considered to be charging through everything in his path, invincible.

And as he cut his way forward, more and more Purification Spirit Pearls were activated by him.

Those brilliant specks of light within the city grew more and more numerous.

"Three more to go."

Li Luo estimated the activated Purification Spirit Pearls. With three more, the Purification Barrier could be successfully laid out, and then Jiang Jiang Qinge would be able to free her hands to join the Eldest Princess in slaying the Four-Armed Demon-Eyed Serpent.

It was going fairly smoothly.

However, although success was clearly in sight, Li Luo did not let his guard down; instead, he became even more cautious. He didn't want to capsize right as he was about to succeed.

Once again, he cut his way forward with his saber.

Li Luo activated two more Purification Spirit Pearls.

Only the last one remained.

Li Luo looked toward a stone tower at the end of the street. The top of the stone tower was the location of the final point, and this place had already reached the edge of the Guang Yao Zhi Zhong Jie, where the dazzling light had dimmed considerably. Fortunately, however, there were no strange serpent creatures here.

Li Luo's figure carefully darted out. After a dozen or so breaths, he arrived beneath the Gao Ta. He held a Purification Spirit Pearl in his hand, activated it, then with a flick of his wrist was about to send it flying.

And the unexpected change finally erupted at this very last moment.

Boom!

From a ruined shop on Li Luo's right, a window suddenly exploded outward. An extremely ferocious attack came crashing in, and even the air was compressed by the force contained within that attack until it exploded, producing a piercing sonic boom.

The entire shop was also struck by the aftershock of the force and shattered with a rumble.

This ambush came far too suddenly.

And it happened to be at the very last moment when Li Luo was about to throw the Purification Spirit Pearl.

At this point, even Li Luo, who had been on guard the entire way, had let his vigilance slacken somewhat.

Fortunately, Li Luo ultimately did not let his guard down completely.

Although this sudden ambush made his back break out in cold sweat, his reaction was also extremely fast. He immediately gave up on shooting out the Purification Spirit Pearl and instead flipped his hand upward. A streak of light shot out and directly formed an octagonal shield behind him.

It was precisely that White-Eye Treasure in his hand.

Boom!

However, this defensive White-Eye Treasure, facing that terrifying strike, only held for an instant before exploding with a rumble, completely ruined, beyond any possibility of repair.

But this at least bought Li Luo a little time.

His figure shot backward, while the resonant power within his body surged violently. The Profound Elephant Saber in his hand was swung out without the slightest hesitation.

"Tiger General Art, Thousand-Flowing Water Saber Art!"

The high-speed whirling water-light saber edge howled out with a humming sound, and the ground was directly cut open, leaving a deep gouge.

Bang!

However, when this water-light saber edge, into which Li Luo had poured all his strength, collided with that overwhelmingly powerful attack, it was still shattered apart, dissolving into a skyful of light specks.

But Li Luo's figure had already retreated out of its attack range. That astonishing torrent of force carved a trench into the street before dissipating.

Li Luo's face darkened as he stared at the collapsed shop. That kind of power earlier was definitely not something a Resonant Master Stage cultivator could possess, and that attack also didn't seem to come from a strange creature...

"Who are you?! Why are you attacking me?" Li Luo asked in a low voice.

As Li Luo's voice fell, rubble was pushed aside in the collapsed shop, and then he saw a figure, its entire body concealed beneath black battle armor, slowly stand up. From beneath the faceplate, an icy, sinister gaze was cast out.

Sure enough, it wasn't a strange creature!

Seeing this figure, Li Luo's expression changed even more. Within this town of Zhenjiang, there were actually still other people besides them?

And since this fellow was a person, why was he trying to stop him from laying out the Purification Barrier?!

"Friend, our goal is to eliminate the strange creatures. What benefit do you get from obstructing us?" Li Luo said slowly. This figure clad in black battle armor was extremely powerful; he should be an expert at the Earth Fiend General Stage. Fighting one-on-one here, he could not possibly be his match.

This made him somewhat annoyed. Just as success was in sight, he had suddenly been blocked by this thing.

However, in response to Li Luo's questioning, that black-armored figure showed no sign of replying. With a clench of his palm, a black heavy spear appeared in his hand. Then he stomped his foot, the ground cracked, and his figure shot out like an iron cavalry, carrying an extremely sharp and domineering offensive momentum, charging directly toward Li Luo.

And along with his charge, the wind along the entire street seemed to be torn apart, and the shops on both sides of the street kept collapsing.

Such an offensive momentum was simply terrifying.

Li Luo's face darkened. This black-armored figure had clearly been lying in ambush for a long time, and the position he had chosen was extremely tricky. This place happened to be at the edge of Jiang Jiang Qinge's "Guang Yao Zhi Zhong Jie," so even Jiang Jiang Qinge couldn't sense him lurking here.

And his purpose was clearly to stop him from completing the Purification Barrier.

But why would he do that? Eliminating the aberrations should be their common goal, shouldn't it?

Or rather, did he not want to see the aberrations eliminated?

Thinking of this, Li Luo's pupils contracted sharply.

He recalled what that elder of the Academy Alliance had said before the Mixed-Grade Tournament began...

The aberration disaster of the Black Wind Empire might be man-made.

Then, could the black-armored figure before their eyes be one of them?!
