Chapter 102: Riding the same horse

~7 min read 1,256 words

The brim of the baseball cap was pressed very low, blocking a large part of her vision. Su Ruoyun decisively raised her hand to take off the hat. Huo Jingcheng, who was standing beside her, seemed to have been prepared, taking it as she handed it over. His five fingers hooked the hat, and it landed securely in his palm.

With the baseball cap removed, her exquisite little face looked even clearer under the sunlight.

Su Ruoyun grabbed the back of the saddle with her right hand, her whole body leaping into the air onto the horse. She successfully mounted, gripped the reins tightly in the web of her hand, and after adjusting them, she gave them a tug. The black-red steed raised its head, spread its four hooves, and began to trot.

She rode the horse for a lap in the paddock, the horse's hooves making a *da-da-da* sound, kicking up a trail of dust, and she also experienced the feeling of the wind roaring wantonly in her ears, returning to the starting point on horseback.

Huo Jingcheng raised his hand and pulled the reins. The horse neighed, its hooves stopping steadily, stepping and turning back and forth on the spot, occasionally lowering its head to nudge the mud on the ground with its mouth.

Su Ruoyun leaned down, her whole body pressed against the horse's back, reached out, and slowly stroked from the mane to its head, her fingertips gently scratching the horse's ears. Her love was overflowing. "What is this horse's name?"

A bright light flickered in Su Ruoyun's eyes, undisguised.

The Akhal-Teke horse, commonly known as the purebred "sweating blood" horse, is worth more than ten million US dollars each and is generally boarded at the horse farm by the owner.

That Huo Jingcheng could use it freely meant he was the owner of this horse.

Huo Jingcheng stared at her for two or three seconds, then the corners of his mouth curled into a smile, his eyes full of undisguised banter. He said deliberately: "Zhuzi (Bamboo)."

"Nonsense."

No horse would have such a name; he was clearly teasing her on purpose.

Su Ruoyun was so angry her teeth itched. She ground her teeth and glared at him secretly, pretending to be casual.

Huo Jingcheng took in her little look of glaring, the smile on his mouth growing thicker, and then he turned his head leisurely, his gaze sweeping around casually, his tone leisurely: "Pinot Noir."

His English pronunciation was pleasant, set off by his low, magnetic voice.

Pinot Noir?

A type of wine grape. Domaine Leroy Musigny Grand Cru, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée-Conti Grand Cru, top French Burgundy wineries, all use Pinot Noir grapes.

Was it because the horse's coat color resembled wine?

Su Ruoyun shook her head, unable to guess his thoughts.

Just as she was lost in thought, her mind drifting far away, Huo Jingcheng raised his hand nonchalantly, grabbed the reins, and immediately stepped on the stirrup with his riding boots, mounting the horse neatly and cleanly. The series of movements was smooth as flowing water.

The movements were so fast that Su Ruoyun couldn't react at all.

"Hey! You—"

Caught off guard, another person appeared behind Su Ruoyun. A huge impact struck, and she was hit and fell forward subconsciously, then inertia pulled her back, and she leaned back uncontrollably, smashing hard into the warm and solid embrace behind her.

A faint smell of tobacco drifted into her nostrils, mixed with a faint, unique woody fragrance. The two scents spread slowly from behind her, wrapping around her from back to front.

There was no romantic atmosphere like in a romance novel; Su Ruoyun only felt that she was about to be squeezed out of breath.

The single saddle only had that much space, but now an adult man was squeezed in, simply as if he wanted to compress her into a telephone pole.

She knitted her brows, barely looking back at Huo Jingcheng behind her, her tone of dissatisfaction carrying a hint of annoyance: "You're squeezing me!"

After saying this, Su Ruoyun freed a hand, made a fist, and knocked on Huo Jingcheng's knee beside her to signal.

Seeing this, Huo Jingcheng stretched out his forearm, most of his arm lying across her front, hugging her slender waist, and used a little force to half-hold her on his body.

Now, it wasn't so uncomfortable for the two to sit.

However, Su Ruoyun could clearly perceive her buttocks pressing against his firm and powerful thighs. An indescribable heat rushed to her cheeks instantly, and the hand holding the reins tightened suddenly.

She had personally experienced the painful consequences of falling from a high-altitude project, and the memories in her mind emerged like a revolving lantern.

Su Ruoyun no longer had the confidence to scold him directly as before, and didn't dare to speak to Huo Jingcheng in the tone she had used the previous few times. She could only suppress the panic in her heart and try to use a gentle tone, speaking nicely to him: "Let me down."

"No." Huo Jingcheng responded cleanly and decisively, beyond doubt. Seeing Su Ruoyun frown, her dark tea-colored eyes sparkling under the sunlight full of dissatisfaction, he added slowly, "Just sit here for a while."

……

On the other side, not far away, on the balcony of the three-story low building, sat two men.

On the solid wood rattan chair, the man's posture was lazy, with his legs crossed, natural and casual.

"Third Brother's operation is simply absolute, too flashy!"

Li Wenye leaned lazily back against the chair, his long fingers with distinct joints resting casually on the armrest, tapping lightly, while his other large hand held a pair of binoculars, staring unblinkingly at the horse farm just fifty meters away, observing extremely carefully.

Hearing this, Chen Zheyan raised his hand nonchalantly, took a bottle of ice beer from the coffee table, raised his neck, and gulped down a large mouthful, then complained mercilessly: "That can't compare to your heroic rescue of the beauty just now."

Looking closely, Li Wenye's right forearm and elbow, which were holding the binoculars, both had varying degrees of abrasions.

He heard Chen Zheyan's words and raised his eyebrows noncommittally. "What, envious?"

"Envious of hurting your own hand? What a joke!" As he spoke, Chen Zheyan licked the beer foam remaining on his lips, quite hypocritical.

Li Wenye pulled the corner of his lips, and a faint smile appeared on his face, fleeting.

……

On the other side, Huo Jingcheng, who was still on the horse, was completely unaware that someone was "commenting" on him fifty meters away.

"Can I get down now?"

"Pinot Noir" was still stepping and turning back and forth on the spot, walking a few steps forward and backward along the path, making Su Ruoyun a little nervous, fearing that it couldn't bear the weight of both her and Huo Jingcheng.

Hearing this, Huo Jingcheng raised his hand to look at the steel watch on his left wrist and clicked his tongue lightly. "It's only been a minute, what are you in a hurry for?"

I don't know how much time passed, but Su Ruoyun asked him again:

"Can I get down now?"

"Thirty seconds."

"Can I—"

"Ten seconds."

"..." Su Ruoyun.

She closed her eyes huffily, trying her best to restrain her anger. She felt that Huo Jingcheng was clearly playing with her; how could time be so slow?
