Chapter 5

~7 min read 1,363 words

"Are you leaving?"

Su Mingyan was quite indulgent with his sister wrapping her hands around his neck, jumping and jumping. Seeing that she was about to sprain her foot and fall, he reached out to support her elbow.

Su Ruoyun let go of her hands, and in the next second, she tucked the rose flower in her hand into Su Mingyan's suit pocket, "No, I haven't told the employees yet."

Hearing this, Su Mingyan raised his eyebrows slightly, as if questioning the authority of the boss, "The boss leaves after work, and still needs to tell the employees?"

As he spoke, he lowered his head and looked at the delicate flower tucked in front of his chest. Black suit, pink flower, the two didn't look very compatible.

So Su Mingyan decisively raised his hand to take it out, and threw it into the trash can by the roadside with his backhand. The force was just right, the rose flower hit the metal edge, then rolled a circle, and fell into the trash can.

"No." Su Ruoyun denied, it was that she hadn't told Xiao Hu that the money for the Guanlan private room didn't need to be collected, plus Huo Jingcheng hadn't left yet. If she had just said it was free, and the employee collected the money later, would she still continue to do business?

Thinking of Huo Jingcheng, she raised her eyelids, glanced at her brother, and the indescribable sense of guilt surged into her heart again: "Brother, you..."

Su Ruoyun was a little embarrassed about what she was going to say next, paused for a moment, and then continued: "Stand here and wait for me, I'll go in to deal with something, and I'll be out soon."

Because she didn't want Su Mingyan and Huo Jingcheng to meet, she could only let Su Mingyan wait for her outside.

Su Mingyan tsked unhappily, his two hands behind his back, "Miss Su, your brother is already at the door, and you don't even invite him in for a cup of tea. It's a pity you opened a tea house."

Su Ruoyun looked at his expression. Seeing that he didn't look angry, she retorted, "If you want to drink tea, there are plenty of people who want to invite you, not missing this cup of mine."

"Okay, I won't talk to you anymore, I'm going in." Saying that, she dropped this sentence, stepped on her thin high heels, turned around, and walked into the door.

Su Mingyan put his left hand into his pocket, looking at Su Ruoyun's departing back, shook his head helplessly, then stepped on a lazy pace and walked forward two or three steps, stopping in front of the steps of the East Gate, but didn't really follow in.

And at this time, behind the door, there was no longer Huo Jingcheng's figure.

Su Ruoyun had just walked past the winding corridor when she saw a tall and straight figure.

The man had a half-burned cigarette clamped between his right fingers, his left hand resting on the wooden railing, his shirt cuffs sliding, revealing the expensive watch on his wrist. Looking down, the cyan-white cigarette ash had scattered all over the ground.

He looked like he was waiting for a rabbit...

Su Ruoyun shook her head, driving this unrealistic thought out of her head.

She was wearing high heels, so the sound of walking couldn't be small, clack clack clack. Before she got close, Huo Jingcheng had already discovered her.

The man turned his head to look, his eyes accurately locking onto the target.

Su Ruoyun pulled the corners of her mouth and greeted him generously, "Mr. Huo."

When she got close, Huo Jingcheng said: "The Boss Lady's tea-making skills are superb, the tea is very good."

Su Ruoyun didn't be overly humble, but instead accepted his praise directly.

The two walked into the front courtyard side by side. When crossing the threshold, a small episode occurred.

Su Ruoyun was wearing a qipao that reached her ankles, revealing only a small section of her fair calves, but it was inevitable that there would be restrictions.

When she stepped, her shoe tip kicked the wooden board and was hooked. Her body instantly lost its center of gravity, staggering, and was about to fall forward.

Just when she thought an accident was about to happen, a large hand easily grabbed her slender wrist bone and pulled her back.

Su Ruoyun took a deep breath, her rapid heartbeat hadn't returned to normal, her voice filled with panic and trembling, "Thank you, Mr. Huo."

The man replied crisply: "You're welcome."

Front courtyard cashier.

Xiao Hu was operating the cash register.

A black gold card was taken out of Huo Jingcheng's wallet and handed to Su Ruoyun's eyes.

Su Ruoyun stared at the chip on the card for two seconds, thinking Huo Jingcheng had forgotten, and reminded him, "I said it, your consumption today is fully waived."

That black gold card wasn't taken back. She only heard Huo Jingcheng say: "Then charge the money into the membership card."

This time, Su Ruoyun didn't refuse again, raised her hand to take it, but when entering the amount, she deliberately calculated it on the low side.

The POS receipt needed the cardholder's signature.

When Su Ruoyun took the receipt, she inevitably cast her gaze on the signature above. The font was neat and fluent, the handwriting was like iron strokes and silver hooks, atmospheric and sharp, making people inevitably think of the four words "the handwriting is like the person".

Comparing it to the person in front of her, it seemed that every stroke reflected a strong and restrained aura.

She placed the receipt on the walnut desktop, pressing it under the POS machine.

Huo Jingcheng lowered his eyes, stared at her face carefully for a few seconds, and said slowly: "I still don't know the Boss Lady's surname?"

"Yun."

"Yun." He repeated the pronunciation to himself, without continuing to ask, as if he knew exactly which Yun character it was, or as if he didn't.

"Goodbye, Boss Yun." The man's tone was peaceful and deep.

Su Ruoyun raised a smile, "Mr. Huo, welcome to visit again next time."

The girl's voice was like a trickling stream, her voice soft and glutinous, but not sticky, just like the pastries in old Beijing, sweet but not greasy, clear and clean, sounding comfortable and refreshing.

Huo Jingcheng's footsteps paused as he went out, only for a moment, then returned to normal.

Watching Huo Jingcheng's back go away, Xiao Hu lowered her head, and a sigh-like evaluation came to her ears, "Mr. Huo is actually quite good."

Xiao Hu found it funny. She didn't want to expose the Boss Lady. Was Mr. Huo really good, or was it good that Mr. Huo paid the money?

Having earned money today, Su Ruoyun was in a good mood. When walking back to the East Gate, her steps were light.

Su Mingyan's driver drove the Mercedes she came in back home, and she got into the Maybach, driven by Su Mingyan himself. Tonight, the brother and sister were going back to the compound to have dinner with their grandparents.

Su Ruoyun sat in the passenger seat, a limited-edition handbag on her lap. She unzipped it, took out her phone, turned around, and threw the small square bag onto the back seat.

The little game just now hadn't passed the level. She turned her phone horizontally, and the screen displayed two white English words—ANGERBIRDS.

The Maybach turned onto the overpass, driving steadily.

Su Ruoyun's fingertips slid across the screen, pulling the slingshot back. Su Mingyan in the driver's seat next to her called her name, "Su Ruoyun."

The man's tone was loose, and she responded absent-mindedly, putting all her thoughts into the game. She only heard Su Mingyan ask: "Did Huo Jingcheng come to the tea house today?"

Su Mingyan's tone was gentle, but in Su Ruoyun's ears, it carried a cold chill.

Her hand shook, she didn't pull the slingshot well, and the little white bird hit the hillside directly. Not only did it not eliminate the green pig, but it died first.
