Chapter 52

~7 min read 1,372 words

Before leaving, Su Ruoyun turned back to glare at Qi Zhiwen standing by the wall, then walked toward the elevator without looking back. The numbers on the elevator display screen kept jumping. She raised her finger to press the down button. Since the elevator had just arrived on the first floor, she needed to wait for a while.

Not long after, Qi Zhiwen's figure appeared in the corridor. Seeing the figure by the elevator, he raised his eyebrows slightly, scanned the surroundings, confirmed that there was no one around, and walked toward Su Ruoyun at a leisurely pace, standing beside her, his hands clasped in front of him.

He cleared his throat and spoke slowly: "Actually, you can't blame me entirely for what happened last time. If you two weren't always sticking together, I wouldn't have misunderstood and thought something was going on between you two."

"..." Su Ruoyun.

She rolled her eyes, wanting to scold him directly, but considering this was the municipal building, she swallowed the dirty words that reached her lips, just staring expressionlessly at the floor number jumping on the display screen.

Qi Zhiwen was completely ignored. Seeing that she didn't pay any attention to him, he felt it was boring and walked away slowly.

In the evening, Su Ruoyun made an appointment with Li Li to have a drink at a bar. Su Ruoyun arrived before Li Li and ordered a bottle of Leroy Musigny.

The lights in the private room were dim, dyeing a quiet atmosphere. She held the thin stem of the wine glass with her fingertips, shaking it gently, the crimson wine sloshing back and forth. She took a sip of the red wine.

Li Li arrived late, sat down beside her, and reached out to take the wine bottle on the table, pouring herself a glass of red wine. Her gaze lingered on the wine bottle for a moment, estimating that Su Ruoyun should have already drunk quite a bit.

"Coming to a bar, you just drink."

Su Ruoyun took another small sip of red wine, the scarlet liquid sliding down the wall of the glass, leaving a trail of stars. Bored, she supported her chin with one hand, her elbow resting on the sofa armrest, "Coming to a bar, if you don't drink, what do you do?"

Li Li gave her a thumbs up, her tone carrying a bit of teasing, "Fine, you're amazing."

After three rounds of drinks, that bottle of Leroy Musigny was almost bottomed out.

Su Ruoyun was almost drunk, the whole person leaning lazily against the back of the sofa, her eyes carrying a bit of blurriness after being slightly tipsy, "Stop letting your little cousin stick to Xiao Rong all the time."

Li Li lay slumped on the table. Hearing this, her shoulders trembled slightly, she laughed muffledly, raised her drunken eyes, and spread her hands: "How can I control that."

"Even if you can't control it, you have to." The female voice was stubborn.

The two drank for another ten minutes. With the empty bottle of Leroy Musigny on the table, they stood up and left the private room.

Standing at the elevator entrance, the two looked at the elevator display screen, waiting for the car to come up.

Su Ruoyun hugged her chest with her right hand, her left hand hanging down naturally. She hadn't forgotten the reason for drinking with Li Li, "Tell me, a man, who says he likes you all day long, and from time to time spends money to buy your things. You say no, he doesn't listen, you can't shake him off, he insists on pestering you."

"Do you think... he is sick, and the kind that is not lightly sick?"

Hearing this, Li Li couldn't help but laugh muffledly, tilting her head, "Maybe... it depends on whether he is handsome or not. Haven't you heard that example? In the past, heroes saved beauties. If the hero was a handsome guy, the beauty would shyly say she would offer herself. If the hero looked average, the beauty would say she would be a cow or a horse to repay the favor; if it was a beauty, the hero would say, 'Miss, are you serious?', and if that girl didn't look good, the hero would say, 'Miss, absolutely not'."

"If that man is handsome, it can only be counted as him being too in love. If that man looks average, it's purely sick."

As the elevator made a crisp "ding" sound, the elevator door slid open slowly. Su Ruoyun muttered in a low voice: "But he looks quite good."

The sound of the elevator arriving drowned out her words. Li Li frowned and looked at her suspiciously: "What did you just say?"

"Nothing?" Su Ruoyun lowered her eyes slowly, her gaze falling on her empty hands. Suddenly remembering something, she blurted out: "I forgot my car keys. You go back first."

The elevator door was already open. Li Li turned to look at Su Ruoyun. Seeing that she looked sober, she said: "Then I'm really leaving."

She nodded and responded softly: "Hmm."

Watching the elevator door close, Su Ruoyun walked back to the private room. Sure enough, her Mercedes-Benz car keys were lying quietly on the black gold wood tea table.

She reached out and took the car keys, holding them in her palm, and walked out of the private room again. The alcohol took effect, her head became even dizzier, her head drooping, her body leaning against the wall unconsciously, her hands supporting the wall, moving step by step.

When she reached the corner, the lights were dim, and Su Ruoyun bumped head-on into a broad chest.

Before she could react from the sudden collision, she was bumped out again, "Ouch."

The voice-activated light turned on in response, and the light instantly dispelled the dimness. Huo Jingcheng's line of sight became clear in the suddenly bright light. When he saw the face of the person in front of him, he hurriedly reached out, grabbed Su Ruoyun's wrist, pulled her toward him, and supported her shoulders to prevent her from falling to the ground in a sorry state.

The two were close at hand, and Huo Jingcheng naturally smelled the strong alcohol on her, "You drank?"

"Hmm." Su Ruoyun nodded gently, her head swaying slightly with a bit of drunken laziness, her voice soft, "Just... just drank a little bit."

As she spoke, she stretched out her index finger and thumb, trying to gesture the length of 'a little bit', but her head was dizzy, causing her movements to lose accuracy, and the distance between the two fingers was clearly more than 'a little bit'.

Huo Jingcheng's gaze fell on her, watching her drunken, silly look, and he couldn't help but smile.

Seeing this, Su Ruoyun tilted her head to one side, her round apricot eyes carrying a bit of ignorance and drunkenness, looking at him without blinking, as if trying to identify who the man in front of her was.

Huo Jingcheng asked her: "Did you recognize who I am?"

As soon as the words fell, Su Ruoyun nodded like a chicken pecking at rice.

"Who?" He leaned over and got closer, asking in a low voice.

She muttered in a low voice, as if saying "dead pervert".

Huo Jingcheng's face turned black instantly.

He looked at the woman in front of him who called him a dead pervert, his brows furrowed slightly, his left hand supporting her elbow, knowing that she couldn't have come out to drink alone, his voice low and carrying a trace of restraint, "Where is your friend?"

"Went home." She answered in a soft voice.

"Then what about you?"

Su Ruoyun shook her head, looking ignorant and innocent, "Don't know."

"..." Huo Jingcheng.

He felt another headache.

Su Ruoyun struggled to break free from his hand, but didn't expect to stagger a few times, her body instantly losing balance.

In a panic, she grabbed his shirt subconsciously, then wrapped her arms around his waist to avoid falling.

After a long while, she suddenly blurted out: "You are a pervert, why are you hugging me?"
