Chapter 7

~8 min read 1,428 words

Before Huo Jingcheng could answer, he had already defaulted, sighing to himself: "As expected of my third brother, a person who does big things, is awesome—"

The last word didn't pass over, because Huo Jingcheng had already pressed the hang-up button.

A few seconds later, the screen returned to darkness. Huo Jingcheng threw it aside at will. The phone jumped twice on the leather seat due to the force and reaction force, and the car returned to quiet.

The green light turned red. Lin Cheng stepped on the brake slowly, put it in gear, and raised his eyelids to look at the rearview mirror, seeing his boss leaning against the leather seat, closing his eyes to pretend to sleep, his right hand rubbing his swollen temples.

He thought to himself: Why did Young Master Chen have to pull something else, but had to say that thing? It was really touching a sore spot.

Chen Zheyan, who had his phone hung up, wasn't annoyed, just thinking about when he would have time to go to the tea house to see this Boss Lady.

Su Ruoyun, who was in the compound, was completely unaware that she had been targeted.

Old Su and Old Lady Su lived in the military compound, with strict security, 24-hour soldiers holding guns patrolling and standing guard. More than a dozen soldiers standing on both sides were standing straight, patrolling back and forth.

The Maybach stopped smoothly in front of a courtyard gate. It wasn't as magnificent as outsiders thought, but more solemn and simple. In the courtyard at the entrance, there was also a grape trellis that the old man had built with his own hands a few years ago.

At the dinner table, Old Lady Su asked her daily question, "How is the tea house business?"

Su Ruoyun nodded, while replying, she didn't forget to pick up food, "With my brother there, it's quite good."

The granddaughter was intelligent, and she had nothing to worry about. Old Lady Su's gaze shifted and fell on the difficult problem in front of her. Her tone seemed to have a bit of helplessness, "The person your mother and I picked for you, when are you going to see him?"

It was about the matchmaking.

Hearing this, Su Ruoyun held a white porcelain bowl and grinned ungraciously.

Su Mingyan's action of picking up food stopped. His eyes first glared at his sister who was giggling beside him without a trace, and then looked at his grandfather as if seeking help.

But the old man wouldn't disobey his old wife, just laughed it off.

Seeing that his "allies" were unreliable, Su Mingyan sighed silently, picked up food for the old lady, and said in a deep voice: "Grandma, eat first."

The old lady wouldn't allow him to digress, "The saying goes that one should be independent at thirty. In previous years, you were busy with work, so your mother and I didn't urge you on the matter of children's love. But you are thirty now, your career is established, and you should consider other things."

Old Lady Su didn't want to mention it at the dinner table, but every time after eating, her grandson would slip away directly, either saying he had to go home to deal with the group's affairs, or he was tired from a day's work and had to go home to rest. As a grandmother, she couldn't stop her grandson from working, nor could she delay her grandson's rest. After going back and forth, she hadn't opened her mouth.

Su Mingyan looked at the old lady's persistent expression and loosened his mouth, "You organize the list of personnel first, and I'll look at it when I have time."

Having time meant no time, just perfunctory for now. Su Mingyan was well-versed in this.

Obviously, Old Lady Su also knew her grandson extremely well.

"No need for you to look, I've already picked it for you here."

Saying that, Old Lady Su waved her hand, signaling the middle-aged woman behind her to step forward, took the photo, and then placed it in front of her grandson, pointing at the photo, "This is the photo, the basic situation is on the back, start with this one first, if you don't like it, we'll change it."

The photo looked like a travel photo. A woman with long hair draped over her shoulders and a pretty face stood in front of an orange tree with branches full of fruit. Red-billed green parrots flying back and forth flashed by. A corner of the photo left its own footprints, and under the irradiation of the dazzling sun, it set off against the surrounding colorful but not gorgeous buildings.

Red, orange, green, pink, etc... the rich and bright colors made people feel as if they were in an oil painting.

Su Mingyan lowered his head and only glanced at it, then withdrew his gaze, nodding in agreement readily.

Because he had already agreed, this time after eating, Su Mingyan didn't rush to go home, chatting with Old Su in front of the chessboard, while on the other side, Su Ruoyun accompanied Old Lady Su out for a walk.

"I heard that you snatched a list from someone recently?"

Old Su dropped a piece, his deep voice making it impossible to hear his emotions.

Su Mingyan thought about where to play, and replied: "In the business world, there is deceit, each relying on their own ability. Could it be..."

His slender, jade-like fingers held a white piece and dropped it onto the chessboard. His lips revealed a mocking smile, "He went home to complain."

Going home to complain, that was something a three-year-old child would do. Beating around the bush to say others were childish, his mouth was as poisonous as if it had been quenched with poison.

Old Su said: "At least the relationship between the two families is good, so you should take care of each other's face."

Su Mingyan was noncommittal and asked back: "Is it? Why don't I remember that the relationship between the Su family and the Huo family is good?"

"……" Old Su.

At 9:00 PM, the brother and sister left the compound.

Before getting in the car, Old Lady Su gave a thousand instructions, telling him to chat with the girl on WeChat.

Su Mingyan put on a good attitude, responding to every sentence, "Don't worry, I'll add her WeChat when I go back, bring her to see you tomorrow, and go to the Civil Affairs Bureau to get the certificate the day after tomorrow."

The old lady laughed and scolded: "Stinky boy, be serious, there's no such thing."

Watching the taillights of the Maybach disappear behind the tall and upright cypress trees by the roadside, Old Su put his hands behind his back, "You just give her to him like this, not letting him pick for himself?"

"Let him pick, I'm afraid he won't be able to pick a granddaughter-in-law for me in ten years."

Su Mingyan was procrastinating on this matter. Giving him a few options, either saying this one was not good, or that one was not good, it was better to give him one directly and let him get along slowly.

On the way back, the photo was held by Su Ruoyun, examining it. The woman in the photo had a long skirt fluttering, her appearance was gentle and bright, rich in bookishness, and she looked like someone with culture at a glance.

"She looks quite beautiful, you are quite lucky, you can chat with a beauty."

"Do you want this luck?" Su Mingyan held the steering wheel with one hand, glanced at the side absent-mindedly, "If you like it, you take it."

"I don't dare to want this luck, brother, you keep it for yourself."

A major reason why she wasn't urged was that Su Mingyan was on top. Another day, when Su Mingyan set the marriage candidate, it would probably be her turn.

Su Ruoyun put the photo back into the armrest box, sighing, "I have to get up early tomorrow."

"Rare, the eldest lady will get up early, is it the tea house's business again?"

Su Ruoyun nodded, "Stocking up tomorrow, I have to go and watch."

This was also Su Ruoyun's rare early shift once a month.

The Maybach stopped downstairs at the apartment. She pulled her bag, said goodnight to Su Mingyan inside, and walked into the hallway.

The next day, Su Ruoyun went out at the peak of the morning rush hour, who knew something happened.
