Chapter 85

~7 min read 1,320 words

The person knocking on the door was nine times out of ten Su Mingyan. Su Ruoyun certainly didn't dare to open the door, so she could only shrink into the corner of the door like a turtle, hoping that the person outside would think there was no one in the room and leave on their own.

A moment later, the knocking stopped abruptly, followed by her phone ringing.

The door wasn't soundproof, and the ringtone drilled out without any hindrance. This time, there was really no way to hide. Su Ruoyun fished her phone out of her skort pocket, walked a few steps inside, swiped her finger to answer, and whispered: "Hello."

"I'm at the door, hurry up and open it." Su Mingyan's voice came from the other end of the phone, echoing inside and outside the door.

Su Ruoyun obediently replied "Okay."

She had a little plan in her mind, deliberately stalling for a while, eyeing the distance from the sofa to the door, and after silently estimating the time needed, she slowly opened the door.

Huo Jingcheng, who was to the side, saw her appearance, and the corners of his mouth couldn't help but rise, helpless and amused. Then he stepped forward and walked straight toward the sofa.

By the time Huo Jingcheng sat down on the sofa, Su Mingyan had also entered the room.

His gaze turned back and forth between Huo Jingcheng and Su Ruoyun. He didn't pay attention to the person sitting on the sofa, nor did he ask Su Ruoyun why it took so long to open the door. His gaze fell directly on Su Ruoyun, asking about her situation.

Su Ruoyun lifted her left foot and pointed her white fingers lightly at the conspicuous bruise on her lower leg to signal him.

Su Mingyan stared at the "wound" for a few seconds, and after ensuring there was no major problem, he turned to Huo Jingcheng: "Thank you, Mr. Huo, for bringing my sister to treat her 'wound' in time."

"Then I will take my sister away first." Su Mingyan said politely.

After Huo Jingcheng nodded, he led Su Ruoyun out the door.

Before leaving, Su Ruoyun looked back at Huo Jingcheng, who was lazily curled up on the sofa. Meeting his deep, pitch-black peach blossom eyes, he even hooked his brows at her. Su Ruoyun curled her lips.

Walking out of the lounge, in the corridor, Su Ruoyun asked tentatively: "Brother, how did you know I was injured?"

Su Mingyan brushed it off briefly: "Li Er said so, and I asked the caddy."

Li Er was the man who had injured Su Ruoyun with a golf club.

Su Ruoyun understood; she was the stupid one.

Having caused trouble, she naturally had to apologize. Plus, with so many people in the club, Huo Jingcheng carrying her all the way into the lounge, it was impossible to keep it a secret.

The golf game ended at noon, past twelve. Su Mingyan won the game, and Su Ruoyun took the opportunity to suggest he treat her to a meal. Su Mingyan naturally wouldn't refuse.

The Maybach carried the two of them, just like when they arrived, driving out of the golf club smoothly. Peng Ran had booked a French restaurant, and the siblings had lunch there.

After the meal, they sent Su Ruoyun back to her apartment first.

The Maybach stopped steadily downstairs at the apartment. Su Ruoyun pushed the car door open, got out nimbly, bent down, and waved goodbye to Su Mingyan.

Returning to the apartment, it was just past two o'clock.

After a morning of "exercise," she took off her sportswear, the polo shirt and skorts falling to the floor. She walked into the bathroom, took a shower, and put on loungewear.

Tomorrow she was leaving for Shencheng to attend the International Tea Party. Li Ayi had already packed some of her luggage. Su Ruoyun began to organize the remaining personal items and skincare products, carefully putting them into the suitcase one by one, then zipped up the suitcase and placed it at the entrance.

In the evening, the housekeeper, Li Ayi, arrived on time to prepare dinner. Su Ruoyun informed her of the specific time she would be away on business.

During the few days she was away, Li Ayi wouldn't need to come over to cook.

"Then I'll just come on Sunday?" Li Ayi stopped what she was doing and looked up to ask.

"Yes." Su Ruoyun nodded in response.

Li Ayi had good skills and was best at home-cooked stir-fries. At 6:30, steaming hot dishes filled the dining table.

Su Ruoyun sat at the dining table, holding chopsticks in her right hand, picking up a few grains of rice and chewing them in her mouth, then picked up a piece of enticing Kung Pao Chicken and put it in her mouth, the fresh and fragrant taste instantly spreading on the tip of her tongue.

The next day, it was an afternoon flight. After a two-hour flight, the plane landed in Shencheng. It was dusk, and the afterglow dyed the entire sky, beautiful and moving. The temperature in Shencheng was significantly hotter than in Sijiucheng. It was June, and the air was filled with a slight heat.

The organizer of the International Tea Party, the Shencheng Municipal Government, had booked a hotel for Su Ruoyun. After asking the staff on the WeChat app and getting the check-in address, she took a taxi to the hotel.

She dragged her suitcase to the hotel front desk to check in, placed her hands on the edge of the front desk, and waited quietly.

Before she could finish checking in, another guest appeared beside her.

The man didn't notice at first. After handing his ID card to the front desk clerk, he turned his head and looked at the person beside him inadvertently, only to find it was Su Ruoyun. His tone carried surprise: "Miss Su?"

Hearing her surname, Su Ruoyun turned her head to look at him subconsciously. After discovering it was Huo Jingcheng's assistant, she curled her lips and smiled politely at him.

The next second, something happened that made the smile on her lips collapse.

After Lin Cheng greeted Su Ruoyun, he turned his head subconsciously and called out respectfully: "Boss."

Counting as a reminder.

She looked in the direction of the voice and saw Huo Jingcheng sitting in the public sofa area with a black suitcase beside him. As their eyes met, she only felt her scalp go numb.

What the hell, everywhere she goes, she runs into him?!

Su Ruoyun arrived earlier than them, and her procedures were handled faster. After saying goodbye to Lin Cheng, she quickly took the room card, grabbed the suitcase with her other hand, and walked toward the elevator in a hurry.

Once inside the elevator, she didn't care about anything else and pressed the elevator close button directly. Until the elevator door slowly closed and she confirmed that Huo Jingcheng hadn't followed, Su Ruoyun breathed a sigh of relief, and her tense nerves relaxed.

After arriving at the room on the top floor of the hotel, she decided to take a comfortable bath first. Even when away from home, she never treated herself poorly and didn't reduce her requirements for enjoyment.

Steam rose, and the misty water vapor permeated the bathroom. She threw an essential oil bath bomb into the bathtub full of water, and in an instant, a rich and charming rose fragrance spread throughout the bathroom.

After the bath, Su Ruoyun walked out of the bathroom wrapped in a soft bathrobe.

The International Tea Party was scheduled for Friday, so Su Ruoyun still had a full day of free time tomorrow.

She excitedly made an appointment with an old classmate in Shanghai to go out and have fun, but didn't expect an unexpected thing to happen that afternoon.

Her bag was stolen!
