Chapter 91
Su Ruoyun held the thin stem of the red wine glass with her hand, raised her hand to bring the rim of the glass to her lips, and drank a mouthful. The rich wine aroma permeated the mouth wantonly, not waiting for her to taste it well.
Unexpectedly, hearing Li Li's words, she choked.
"Cough, cough, cough—"
Seeing Su Ruoyun's reaction was so big, Li Li realized she had spoken out of turn, cleared her throat somewhat embarrassedly, and hurriedly changed the subject: "I was just guessing, don't take it seriously, maybe, maybe,"
"He just went out to find an excuse to escape the bill..." Li Li hurriedly found a reason.
Su Ruoyun pulled a few tissues, pressed her mouth lightly, wiped the wine liquid sliding on her lips carefully, and after listening to Li Li's words, subtle little thoughts emerged in her head.
Li Li didn't know that the male customer tonight was Huo Jingcheng, so the possibility of escaping the bill was basically zero.
Pondering carefully, what she said seemed to have some truth. Tonight was very much like the classic scene of the male lead's confession in a TV series: Western restaurant, hired a violinist, left halfway with an excuse...
The more Su Ruoyun thought about it, the more she felt something was wrong. Borrowing this idea, she drank the whole glass of red wine in one gulp.
It wasn't until Huo Jingcheng held his phone with one hand and pushed the door in again that her thoughts were interrupted.
"What are you thinking about?" Huo Jingcheng asked.
He pushed the door in and saw this scene: Su Ruoyun held a goblet, her moist fingertips touching the transparent cup body, the crimson wine swaying back and forth in the cup, splashing on the cup wall, rippling in small ripples. This bright color made her fingertips look even fairer like jade.
Her gaze was lowered thoughtfully, her eyes empty, as if thinking about something.
Hearing this, Su Ruoyun calmed her emotions without a trace, met his gaze calmly, "Nothing."
Huo Jingcheng looked at her for two or three seconds, pulled his lips, "Are you finished eating?"
"Yes." As she said, Su Ruoyun put the paper ball in her palm on the table, then stood up, bent her fingers to brush the skirt, and smoothed the wrinkles, carefully smoothing out the wrinkles left by sitting.
The bill for tonight was paid by Su Ruoyun. The waiter stood to the side, and she took out the bank card from her bag and handed it over.
Black gold card, female paying, the waiter's well-trained face had no waves, but in her heart, she couldn't help but feel a trace of strangeness.
After swiping the bill, the waiter handed back the black gold card and smiled: "Welcome next time." Couldn't pick out a single mistake.
Walking out of the private room, the two took the elevator downstairs. Su Ruoyun was still immersed in what Li Li said and her own thoughts, her brows slightly wrinkled, her expression tangled.
Looking at Huo Jingcheng on the other side, he leaned lazily against the elevator wall, occasionally glancing at Su Ruoyun, as if thinking about something.
As the elevator descended slowly, the floor numbers on the screen gradually approached the first floor. Huo Jingcheng suddenly spoke, breaking the silence in the elevator, his voice deep and magnetic: "Shall I send you back?"
The two were staying in the same hotel, Su Ruoyun didn't refuse the invitation, nodded and agreed.
The elevator went down to the second basement, and the two stepped out.
Huo Jingcheng put his hands in his pockets, walked to the car door with a loose pace, pulled the car door for Su Ruoyun first, then raised his hand, his large palm blocking the top of the car door steadily, gentlemanly and considerate.
Su Ruoyun raised her hand to gather her skirt, bent down and sat into the back seat of the Rolls-Royce, looking at the luxurious interior, the driver wearing white gloves had his hands on the steering wheel, preparing to start the engine, muttering to himself: "Just leaving like this?"
Although her voice was almost inaudible, the space in the car was closed and quiet, and the fine voice was still keenly captured by Huo Jingcheng who sat in the back row. He turned his head slightly, his gaze falling on her, asking with interest: "Otherwise?"
"What else do you want to do?"
Su Ruoyun widened her eyes, glanced at him sideways, turned to look out the car window, and responded flatly: "Nothing."
Can't say... I was thinking if you would confess?
The Rolls-Royce drove out of the basement, like an elegant giant beast, the car body lines smooth, silently blending into the night of the whole city, driving steadily on the road.
The dim street lights on both sides shone into the car, revealing a corner of light. Su Ruoyun looked at the bright lights outside the car window, the light of the street lights mottled on her face, reflecting her calm side profile.
The journey wasn't far, more than half an hour, and the two returned to the hotel.
Huo Jingcheng didn't let his assistant Lin Cheng accompany him tonight. Except for the driver sitting in the driver's seat when in the car, the rest of the time was just the two of them.
I don't know if Su Ruoyun thought too much, but since Li Li's sentence, she always felt the atmosphere was strange.
"I'll go first." Huo Jingcheng's voice was deep, clearly sounding in the quiet space.
Su Ruoyun turned her eyes casually, but didn't expect to bump into his gaze coldly on the bright mirror of the elevator. They looked at each other for a moment, she shifted her gaze, and responded with "Okay."
Su Ruoyun stared at Huo Jingcheng's back for a long time without withdrawing. Until the elevator door closed slowly, isolating her gaze.
The elevator continued to rise steadily for one floor, a crisp "ding" sounded, breaking this short silence. Su Ruoyun came back to her senses and stepped out of the car.
After returning to the high-end suite on the top floor, she planned to remove her makeup first, then take a bath. But unexpectedly, just as she stood by the coffee table and picked up the glass, took a sip of water, the cool liquid flowed down her throat, the doorbell rang.
She subconsciously raised her eyes to look at the electronic wall clock on the wall, which showed 10:15 in the evening.
Su Ruoyun frowned in confusion, not knowing who was looking for her. She put the glass back on the coffee table, shuffled in slippers, every step bringing a slight friction sound. On the carpet, all sounds seemed to be absorbed by it. She walked toward the door slowly and reached out to open the door.
As soon as the door opened, the person standing outside was Huo Jingcheng.
Huo Jingcheng leaned against the door frame, arms crossed, his tall posture bringing a kind of casual aura. Seeing the door open, he didn't wait for a greeting, and naturally raised his foot, preparing to step into the room spontaneously.
Su Ruoyun was startled, subconsciously reaching out to block his way: "Hey, what are you doing?"
Huo Jingcheng's steps into the room stopped abruptly. Being blocked by her, his gaze fell on the fair arm blocking his way. In an instant, it was as if time had stopped.
Immediately after, he lifted his eyelids, his deep, pitch-black peach blossom eyes looking straight at her, his tone slow: "Very private words, are you sure you want me to say them here?"
Private words...
Su Ruoyun blinked, her heart instantly raised to her throat. Could it be... he really was going to confess?
