Chapter 10: Thrilling (Two Chapters Released Together, Please Read On!)
At that moment, the Malizi Knight reacted swiftly, his figure flashing like a black gust of wind, instantly blocking in front of Robin and the others.
His expression was serious and heavy, his gaze locked tightly on the Giant Python, and he shouted, "That is a monster modified by a Wizard; judging by the situation, its combat power should be no less than the Knight Apprentice Peak."
The Malizi Knight's voice was firm and powerful, resonating like a great bell in everyone's ears, bringing a hint of calm.
Upon hearing it, everyone felt a chill in their hearts.
A monster modified by a Wizard implies evil magical forces behind it, far beyond an ordinary beast.
Moreover, its combat power equals that of the Knight Apprentice Peak, making it an extremely tricky opponent.
In the next second, desperate wailing cries suddenly rang repeatedly from the dense fog ahead, sharp and mournful, as if a life were emitting its final lament before fading, adding a terrifying note to the silent, fear‑filled atmosphere.
"Damn, this thing isn't just a single one," the Malizi Knight's face changed dramatically; a flash of panic crossed his eyes, but was quickly replaced by resolve. Years of battle experience taught him that facing such an unknown and powerful enemy, panic would only worsen the situation.
"Silvan, Dain, and Camille, coordinate and eliminate this monster first," the Malizi Knight ordered swiftly, his voice firm and unquestionable. He knew that in this peril‑laden scenario, a sound tactical arrangement was the key to victory.
Hearing the Malizi Knight's command, Silvan, Dain, and Camille, three veteran Knight apprentices, rushed to the front without hesitation.
Silvan raised his battle axe high, excitement flashing in his eyes; he had long yearned for a battle to showcase his strength, and now the chance was at hand.
Dain wielded a long sword, its blade glinting with cold light; his gaze was calm and focused, his steps steady as he walked side by side with Silvan.
Camille swung a heavy war hammer; each step made the ground tremble slightly, his massive frame like a moving hill, exuding a strong sense of pressure.
Robin and the three others did not rashly join the fight.
They knew that in a clash of this level, their involvement would not help and might become a burden.
Robin gripped his sword tightly, sweat soaking his palms; if there were another one, it would be trouble.
Beside him, Eric, Lily, and Tomson were equally tense, their eyes fixed on the comrades fighting ahead, ready to lend aid whenever needed.
At this moment, the dense fog seemed to cheer the fierce battle, constantly rolling and surging, shrouding the battlefield in a mysterious and dangerous aura.
Then, several deafening roars erupted from deep within the fog, sounds that seemed to tear the suppressed atmosphere apart.
Robin couldn't help muttering, "I'm such a crow‑mouth!" He never expected that just as he sensed trouble, even more Modified Giant Pythons burst out.
Immediately, three Modified Giant Pythons of varying shapes slithered out of the fog like phantoms.
Though their appearances differed greatly—some wore armor of sharp spikes, others smooth scales—their overall combat style was surprisingly uniform.
They moved in a bizarre S‑shaped glide across the ground, bodies twisting and winding, raising a rustling sound as they ferociously charged at the remaining members of the party, as if to swallow everyone in an instant.
This sudden turn made the situation even more critical, and even the experienced knights Malizi and Fitz could not sit idle.
"If you don't want to die, pull yourself together," Fitz the Knight shouted hoarsely, his voice bearing undeniable authority and morale‑boosting power. Without hesitation, he charged alone toward the two Modified Giant Pythons, his figure tiny in the fog yet filled with fearless courage.
Thus, the remaining two Modified Giant Pythons could only be dealt with by the two lower‑rank Knight apprentices.
Robin took a deep breath, suppressing his inner fear; now was not the time to retreat.
Eric, Lily, and Tomson beside him also wore determined faces, gripping their weapons tightly, a steadfast light flashing in their eyes.
"You hold them back; I'll lead the attack!" Eric, knowing he was the strongest, took the primary assault role.
At Eric's command, the four swiftly entered combat mode.
Eric's both hands clenched the long sword, its blade shimmering with a chilling cold light, his gaze revealing determination and resolve, staring directly at the twisted, massive body of the Modified Giant Python.
Robin, Lily, and Tomson quickly spread out, forming a surrounding from different directions to restrain the python's movements.
Robin held his sword tightly; though a bit nervous, his eyes still bore a fierce resolve.
He timed it, lunged forward a step, feinting a slash at the python's head to draw its attention.
The python, enraged, instantly turned its triangular head toward Robin, opened its blood‑filled maw, exposing sharp fangs, and let out a low growl; dark green venom dripped from its mouth, corroding the ground into small pits.
Lily was not to be outdone; she wielded a delicate dagger, darting agilely beside the python.
Spotting the opening the python exposed while attacking Robin, she flashed like a black bolt, closing in on its body, thrusting the dagger hard into a seam of its armor. Yet the python's armor was extremely hard; the dagger sank only half an inch before stopping.
The python winced, its massive body jerking violently; Lily couldn't dodge in time, a strong sweep knocked her, sending her flying like a kite with a broken string.
Tomson, seeing this, felt his heart race.
He shouted, brandishing his war axe, and charged toward the python.
The war axe whooshed through the air, striking the python's armor with a "clang" that reverberated, making Tomson's arm tingle.
Yet he gritted his teeth, did not retreat, and kept searching for an opening.
Seizing the moment while the python was distracted by the three, Eric let out a roar, planted both feet firmly on the ground, and leapt high into the air.
He gathered all his strength into his long sword, hurling it like a meteor toward the python's seven‑inch spot with a fierce thrust.
The python seemed to sense the lethal danger, its massive body twisting to evade.
Eric's sword grazed the python's scales, leaving only a shallow wound.
The python roared in anger, twisting its body, darting at breakneck speed among the four, seeking a gap for a fatal strike.
The four coordinated tightly, continuously attacking and restraining, locked in a fierce, stalemated duel with the Modified Giant Python, the battlefield filled with tension and splattering venom.
