Chapter 115: Glad to See It Come to Fruition
The two white‑bearded Instructors beside them hurriedly bowed their heads in assent, daring not to speak further.
They knew that Meilinda's decisions often carried far‑reaching intentions, and her methods were far beyond what they could guess.
Meilinda's actions undoubtedly bought Robin more time and room. She seemed not eager to have the Academy intervene in the dispute, preferring instead to watch how Robin would grow amid the crisis.
Her attitude also hinted that she held extremely high expectations for Robin's potential, perhaps already regarding him as an important piece.
Late at night, the long‑missing Lao Mao Ao Disi reappeared.
"It seems you've adapted to your new identity, and you're doing quite well!"
Robin snapped, "The Wizard Council is really disgusting; their shadow is everywhere."
"The Wizard Council truly is omnipresent; their tendrils have reached every corner of the kingdom," Ao Disi's voice was low and calm, tinged with resignation and caution.
He knew well the Wizard Council's might and danger, which is why the Round Table Council had remained hidden in the shadows.
Robin furrowed his brow, his tone laced with irritation, "What exactly are they after? Why do they keep staring at me?"
Ao Disi gently shook his head, his gaze deep as if seeing through Robin's inner unease, "Your talent and potential threaten the Western branch of the Wizard Council, and also present them an opportunity.
The Wizard Council has been seeking geniuses who can break the existing power structure, and you are one of the targets in their eyes," his voice was low and measured, bearing an undeniable weight.
"The Soul-Eating Crystal is precisely a product of their ultimate goal," Ao Disi continued, his tone cold, "It is a forbidden artifact that can devour souls and warp life; the Wizard Council uses it for all sorts of mad experiments, trying to break the limits of existence."
Robin fell silent for a moment, feeling a weight in his heart.
This life truly has him at odds with the Wizard Council; without dealing with them, he cannot find peace.
Countless thoughts flashed through his mind, finally turning into a low sigh.
"Then what should I do?" Robin asked softly, his tone tinged with bewilderment and helplessness.
He lifted his head, his gaze hopeful, as if hoping Ao Disi could give him a clear answer.
Ao Disi smiled faintly, a hint of cunning in his eyes, "What you must do now is keep getting stronger. Only when you are powerful enough can you seize the initiative in this game. The Academy's senior officials have begun to take notice of you, especially Meilinda; her involvement may buy you some time."
"Meilinda!" Robin exclaimed in surprise, "That woman is a senior of the Academy."
"Soon you'll see that woman's abilities, and also," Ao Disi continued, his tone turning serious, "you must be wary of Tuoleisi. His scheme is crude, but a larger force may be backing him. The Wizard Council's involvement could be just the tip of the iceberg."
A flash of cold resolve crossed Robin's eyes, his fist clenching tighter, "Tuoleisi… I won't let him succeed."
Ao Disi nodded with satisfaction, then his form gradually blurred as if about to vanish into the night, "Remember, Robin, to completely eradicate the Soul-Eating Crystal you must keep getting stronger, until you surpass the Legendary Knight or Formal Wizard stage; only then can we be confident enough to dismantle the Crystal's secret workshop."
His voice grew ever softer, finally almost turning into a breeze.
Before the words finished, Ao Disi's figure had already vanished completely, leaving Robin alone in the night, his gaze fixed firmly on the distance.
The night wind brushed his cheek, bringing a chill, yet a flame ignited within his heart.
Early the next morning, news spread that Robin had been assigned to the elite class.
At the Minerva Knight Academy, anyone who graduates from the elite class becomes at least a Great Knight, with a high chance of eventually becoming a Legendary Knight.
Out of the thousands of cadets in the academy, fewer than twenty can enter the elite class.
For a moment, Allen Wilk Woft became the academy's new rising star.
Tuoleisi stood in the shadow of the academy's high tower, his gaze cold as ice as he watched Robin in the distance.
Robin was chatting and laughing with several cadets, completely unaware of the eyes hidden in the shadows.
Tuoleisi clenched his fist, his nails digging deep into his palm, jealousy and anger gnawing at his sanity like poisonous snakes.
"Why… why can that bastard, a mere illegitimate child, receive the Academy's attention?" Tuoleisi muttered low, his tone full of resentment.
The images of Leon and Pippen departing flashed in his mind, the sense of abandonment fueling his anger further.
He had already lost his standing in the Academy; the slot that once had a high chance of falling to him has now become a fleeting illusion.
All of this is because of Robin.
Originally he wanted the Wizard Council to take Robin away, even discard him, but now Robin, a student of the elite class, has become the Academy's focal point.
Thomas could never have imagined that all this stemmed from the inspiration he gave Meilinda when he sounded the alarm.
To make the Wizard Council pay even more attention to Robin, one must grant him a corresponding status, thereby forcing the Council to dispatch stronger agents.
As for Thomas's little moves, Meilinda has been watching them, even delighted to see them succeed.
"Humans! What a pitiful and lamentable species," Meilinda opened a hand fan, covering the lower half of her face, her scarlet eyes fixed on the cadets below the tower.
"So full of youthful vigor, it's intoxicating."
Through his family's connections, Tuoleisi contacted a First Ring Wizard of the Wizard Council—Morris Heicua.
Morris is a wizard adept at manipulating hearts and creating illusions; he is also fascinated by Robin's talent, but prefers to prove his strength by destroying Robin.
To conceal his identity, Tuoleisi changed outfits several times before arriving at a tavern called "The Tavern That's Really Good for Your Wife" to meet Morris.
In a hidden basement, Tuoleisi and Morris sat face‑to‑face.
The dim candlelight fell on Morris's pallid face, making him appear even more grim and terrifying.
"Your plan is interesting," Morris whispered, his voice hissing like a poisonous snake, "but I need more stakes."
Tuoleisi gritted his teeth, pulled an ancient badge from his coat and handed it to Morris, "This is my family's heirloom, said to be linked to a secret of the Wizard Council. If you help me destroy Robin, it will be yours."
Morris took the badge, a greedy glint in his eyes, "Deal."
