Chapter 147: Machinery
Kaos's complexion changed suddenly, realizing that the blade Qi's power was far from ordinary.
Kaos hurriedly stepped back, crossing his two blades before him, attempting to block the deadly blow.
The blade Qi's force far exceeded Kaos's imagination, blasting him outward and slamming him heavily against the ice wall.
The ice wall could not bear the weight, collapsing with a roar, and a mass of ice chunks buried Kaos.
Garm saw his comrade in danger and let out an angry roar.
Garm ignored Elina's attack, concentrating all his energy into the muzzle of his right arm, and a thick laser beam shot out instantly. Robin reacted swiftly, shouting, "Watch out!"
At the same time, he lunged toward Elina, knocking her to the ground.
The laser beam skimmed past their bodies, leaving a deep groove on the ice surface.
Alje seized the gap in Garm's attack, swiftly moving behind him, and the mechanical spear thrust hard at Garm's back.
Garm's armor, though sturdy, still developed a crack under Alje's powerful strike.
Feeling the pain, Garm turned and punched at Alje. Alje dodged agilely, and the two fell into a fierce close-quarters fight.
Just as the melee raged, Kaos, buried under ice chunks, suddenly let out a low chuckle.
With a violent tremor, the ice chunks shattered, and Kaos slowly rose to his feet.
His scarlet armor bore multiple cracks, blood seeped from the wounds, yet his gaze grew increasingly wild. "You think this can defeat me? How naive!"
Kaos roared, and the corrosive liquid on his twin long blades began to boil, emitting a pungent odor.
Robin gripped his Tang Sword tightly, exchanged a glance with Elina and Alje, and understood in his heart that he could no longer conceal his strength.
Robin clenched his Tang Sword, his knuckles whitening, swiftly exchanged looks with Elina and Alje; the three were in silent accord—at the brink of life and death, they could not hide anything.
Just as Robin's Magic Power surged around him, ready to make a decisive strike, a series of deafening explosions rang from outside the cave.
The hunting units that had surged in like a tide were instantly blown to pieces, metal fragments scattering with sparks.
Immediately after, a lithe figure shrouded in billowing smoke surged into the ice cave like a phantom.
The newcomer was Lao Mao, clad in a dark gray trench coat, its hem flapping wildly in the gale, his disheveled white hair standing on end, as if narrating his past untamed adventures.
Beneath the high-tech visor covering his face, a pair of sharp eyes constantly surveyed everything around.
As a renowned Wizard of the Round Table Council, his arrival instantly altered the battlefield's dynamics.
"Ha ha! How can such a lively party be without me, Lao Mao!" Lao Mao roared with laughter, his hands swiftly tracing intricate spell patterns in the air.
In an instant, the Magic Power in the air swirled as if stirred by an invisible giant hand, rapidly coalescing into glowing azure energy spheres.
With a flick of Lao Mao's fingertips, the energy spheres streaked toward the remaining hunting units like meteors chasing the moon; wherever they struck, the units exploded in succession, turning into piles of scrap metal.
Seeing this, Kaos's cheek twisted into a knot, and he snarled viciously, "Lao Mao, you are openly opposing the Frost Eagle Grand Duke!"
Lao Mao scoffed, snapped his fingers, and teased, "Yo! Look who's here? Bloodblade Kaos! I don't wish to quarrel with the Grand Duke, but you guys are bullying these little ones, and I can't just stand by—someone has to step in!"
Garm remained silent and taciturn, a low rumble emanating from his body as the muzzle of his right arm began to charge wildly, aiming at Lao Mao.
Robin reacted instantly, flashing beside Lao Mao; the dark red patterns on his Tang Sword flared brightly as he shouted, "Lao Mao, I thought the Round Table Council wouldn't send anyone."
Lao Mao grinned, showing a set of white teeth, "Ha ha, the Wizard Council's power has waned, they even withdrew the Northern Wizard Council Branch, clearly forcing the Round Table Council to step up—how could we not come." He then began to chant an Incantation.
The temperature around them dropped sharply, and the previously swirling ice shards instantly solidified into sharp ice spikes, densely hovering beside him.
Elina and Alje showed no hesitation.
Elina swung her long sword, and golden Sword Qi surged like a galloping horse toward Garm.
Alje's rear thruster expelled scorching blue flame as he wielded his mechanical spear, thrusting like an arrow toward Kaos again.
Kaos bellowed, wildly swinging his twin long blades, forming a corrosive blade net around them, attempting to block Alje's assault.
Alje, relying on his agile movements, weaved through the blade net, searching for a gap.
Suddenly, he timed it perfectly, thrusting his mechanical spear hard; Kaos couldn't evade, his arm slashed with a deep wound, blood spraying.
On Garm's side, Elina's attacks came like a sudden storm; even his heavy armor began to struggle to withstand them.
At that moment, Garm let out a deep roar, his entire armor reshaping as more weapon ports emerged.
Meanwhile, Lao Mao's hands fluttered rapidly, firing ice spikes like bullets at Garm.
Garm hurriedly activated his defense system, but the ice spikes surged fiercely, many piercing through his armor, leaving cracks.
Garm was fully focused on repelling Lao Mao's rain of ice spikes; his silver-gray armor quivered violently under the Magic Power impact, cracks spreading at a visible speed.
At that instant, Robin streaked like a black lightning, racing along the ice wall.
His steps barely touched the ice, making almost no sound, and the dark red patterns on his Tang Sword seemed to come alive, pulsing in rhythm with his heartbeat.
In a flash, Robin appeared behind Garm like a phantom.
Garm seemed to sense the danger and tried to turn for defense, but it was already too late.
Robin roared, pouring all his strength into thrusting his Tang Sword toward Garm's back, aiming for the heart.
"Sss!"
When the Tang Sword pierced the armor, Robin felt a massive resistance, but the sword's potent Magic Power helped him break through.
The blade sank deep into Garm's back, spewing out a black liquid smelling of machine oil, splashing onto the ice and instantly corroding small pits.
Garm let out a painful roar, his whole body trembling violently.
He wildly flailed his arms, trying to fling Robin away.
Robin had anticipated this; after the Tang Sword entered, he quickly used the momentum to leap aside.
At this moment, Kaos saw Garm injured, his anxiety burning, and disregarding Alje's attack, he swung his serrated long blade toward Robin.
Lao Mao, seeing this, swiftly moved his hands in the air, drawing a massive magical circle.
Within the magical circle, lightning flashed, and a thick bolt shot out, striking Kaos precisely. Kaos trembled all over from the shock, his steps staggering.
