Chapter 52: Suppression

~6 min read 1,134 words

In an instant, the battle erupted in full force.

Leimeng's subordinates shouted as they charged toward the city gate, engaging in fierce clashes with militia and archers.

Robin moved like a precise killing machine, continuously firing Feather Arrows, each imbued with lethal force, accurately striking a bowman on the city wall.

His figure darted agilely across the battlefield, vanishing into darkness at times, then flashing in the firelight, leaving the enemy unable to defend.

Saint Shield Knight Xiaoduo reacted swiftly, wielding a massive Shield like a moving fortress as he charged at Robin.

Seeing this, Robin's gaze hardened, and he loosed several arrows in succession, trying to halt his advance.

Xiaoduo's iron shield was no ordinary Shield; the Feather Arrows were deflected, sparks flying everywhere.

Just as Robin and Xiaoduo became locked in a stalemate, two newly commissioned Knights also joined the fight.

They flanked from both sides, their long swords flashing with cold light.

Robin felt a tightening in his heart; he knew he was in a bind. Yet he did not retreat, but instead sparked his fighting spirit.

He swiftly adjusted his tactics, evading enemy attacks while searching for their openings.

Suddenly, he noticed one of the new Knights moving slightly slower, and he felt a secret joy.

He drew the bowstring hard, and a Feather Arrow shot out like lightning, straight toward the knight's throat.

The knight stared in terror, trying to dodge but too late. The Feather Arrow pierced his throat, he let out a wail and fell to the ground.

After eliminating one knight, Robin's pressure eased slightly. He focused, continuing the fight with Xiaoduo and the other knight.

At this moment, the battlefield grew ever more intense, both sides locked in a grueling fight.

Leimeng stood at the battlefield's edge, coldly watching the hard-fought stalemate, a faint sneer curling his mouth, his smile hiding a cunning and smugness others could not grasp.

Just then, a deafening roar of battle erupted outside the city, the sound like rolling thunder, instantly shattering the previous deadlock.

Xiaoduo, fully focused on sparring with Robin, was startled by the sudden noise, a flash of panic crossing his face.

"What's happening?" Xiaoduo muttered lowly, his eyes full of vigilance, instinctively gripping his Shield tighter and gazing toward the outside.

On the city wall, a knight apprentice rushed down in a panic, his voice trembling and urgent, shouting loudly: "Black Bear Thieves Guild is attacking the city!"

The words sent a shock through the entire battlefield, soldiers' faces instantly showing shock and fear.

Leimeng, upon hearing the news, was momentarily stunned, then threw his head back and laughed wildly, his laughter full of madness and glee, "All shall die! All shall die!"

He laughed maniacally while swinging his hand forcefully, leading the hidden knights in his ranks like hungry wolves to swarm Xiaoduo.

Only then did Xiaoduo fully realize the gravity of the situation, his complexion turning as pale as paper.

He never imagined that, besides Robin and Leimeng, the enemy also concealed three more knights.

And at this moment, on his own side, only he remained as a knight.

"This... how can this be possible!" Xiaoduo muttered inwardly, knowing his strength, though greater than Robin's alone, left him only able to block in the face of such overwhelming numbers, with no power to counter.

He swung his Shield, trying to fend off attacks pouring in from all directions, but the enemy's onslaught was as fierce as a tide, gradually overwhelming his strength.

Robin seized the moment of Xiaoduo's distraction, swiftly readjusting his stance, leapt forward, and aimed at the archers on the city wall.

His gaze bore cold resolve; the Pulley Composite Bow in his hands flickered rapidly, Feather Arrows shooting out like lightning.

The archers on the wall were caught defenseless; under Robin's rain of arrows, they shrieked and fell to the ground.

In an instant, chaos erupted on the wall.

A fifty-man archer unit was now being utterly suppressed by Robin alone.

His figure darted back and forth across the battlefield, each draw and release carrying lethal deterrence.

He had already swapped three quivers, two hundred Feather Arrows, and in this brief span had shot out more than half of them.

The arrow rain, like locusts, rained upon the wall's archers; wails rose and fell as those archers, struck by Robin's precise archery, were left powerless to retaliate, only able to dodge.

At that moment, Robin's peripheral vision caught sight of Malizi Knight and Tomson hurrying over with their families.

He stood on the rooftop and shouted loudly, "Leave the city, I'll cover you!" His voice rang especially clear amid the noisy battlefield.

Malizi Knight heard the call, nodded silently, his eyes showing determination and gratitude.

He inhaled deeply, alone charging ahead, his long sword flashing coldly like a fierce lion, slashing toward the city gate.

Along the way, enemies fell beneath his blade, his figure appearing especially heroic amid the blood-soaked storm.

Soon, Malizi Knight reached the city gate. Without hesitation, he kicked the gate post hard, the massive force shaking the gate itself.

Immediately after, he used all his strength to slowly push the heavy gate open.

The gate opened gradually, revealing the scene outside the city.

Robin, seeing this, immediately hoisted three quivers and rushed up the wall. When he stood atop the wall and beheld the sight, his heart jolted.

He saw the Black Bear Thieves Guild mass a dark, pressing wave, at least several hundred people surging like a tide. Their faces bore ferocity and greed, weapons flashing coldly, like a pack of hungry wolves ready to pounce on the soon-to-fall city.

"This is trouble..." Robin muttered inwardly, yet he did not retreat. He quickly readjusted, nocked a Feather Arrow, his gaze fixed on the foremost thief.

Malizi Knight, with his family and Tomson, hurried south along the base of the wall, moving cautiously.

Their silhouettes appeared tiny under the dim sky, yet so resolute.

The arrival of these unexpected guests drew the attention of some members of the Black Bear Thieves Guild; many thieves brandished weapons, charging at them with fierce momentum, attempting to intercept.

Robin stood on the wall, his eyes closely monitoring every movement below.

Seeing this, he did not hesitate to draw his bow, the Feather Arrow whistling sharply like a meteor toward the intercepting thieves.

Each arrow was impeccably precise; the thieves, unable to react, were struck and fell.

In an instant, wails rose among the thieves, their assault faltering.

Malizi and Tomson, hearing the sounds behind them, simultaneously glanced back, seeing Robin's steadfast figure and the fallen thieves, and both exhaled in relief.

But in that fleeting breath, a sudden turn of events arose.

Suddenly, a sharp system alarm blared in Robin's mind, like a bolt of thunder.
