Chapter 7: Knight's Battle (Please Collect and Comment!)

~6 min read 1,123 words

Robin reached out and steadily caught the long sword; as soon as it was in his hand, he could feel its extraordinariness.

The blade was long and slender, flashing a cold, icy light in the dim light.

Since Robin had personally slain that thief knight apprentice, the sword naturally became his spoil.

This is also a unique privilege for these knight apprentices on the battlefield: any item belonging to an opponent of the same rank whom they personally slay belongs to the victor.

On this thief knight apprentice, the most valuable item was probably this single‑handed sword.

Robin drew the single‑handed sword issued to him when he was a militia; comparing the two, the superiority was immediately clear.

The thief knight apprentice's sword, in both material and craftsmanship, was far superior to the ordinary militia sword he held.

The blade was lighter yet had better flexibility; swinging it felt as if it merged with his arm, as if he could sense its yearning for battle.

"Thanks, Eric." Robin lifted his head, looking sincerely at Eric, his eyes full of gratitude.

Eric waved his hand, "What for? This is yours. We'll have plenty more days fighting side by side!"

Tomson nearby also stepped over; he was sturdily built, an honest and simple young man.

Tomson scratched his head and laughed, "Robin, you'll have to teach me more later; I just watched you duel that thief knight apprentice—your swordplay was fast and precise, I was dumbstruck."

Robin quickly replied with a smile, "Don't say that; we all improve together—I was just lucky."

Tomson is also a knight apprentice under the Malizi Knight; his status is quite special, being the nephew of the Malizi Knight and coming from a knightly family.

However, his talent is only average; like Robin in age, he has just grasped the entry level of the breathing method.

According to Robin's system's experience values, Tomson's breathing method experience is estimated not to have exceeded 100.

Nevertheless, Tomson is honest and simple, always wearing a foolish smile, and gets along very well with the other knight apprentices.

Of course, this is also partly because everyone gives face to the Malizi Knight.

At that moment, everyone was immersed in the joy of victory and recuperation when suddenly a deafening "boom‑rumble" sounded, like distant thunder rolling, breaking the brief tranquility.

Noding's expression changed drastically; he widened his eyes and shouted at the top of his voice, "A knight‑captain‑level expert is fighting ahead!"

Noding is also a knight apprentice under the Malizi Knight, yet he is the strongest among them, only one step away from becoming a formal knight.

In daily training and combat, he consistently displays strength and composure beyond the ordinary.

At this moment, his face showed tension and excitement—tension from facing an unknown strong foe, excitement from the chance to witness higher‑level combat and gain experience for his breakthrough.

Hearing this, Robin's heart clenched, a flicker of tension and anticipation flashing in his eyes.

He gripped the long sword he had just seized, sweat beading on his palm, his mind quickly racing for a response.

Eric also wiped away his smile, his expression turning solemn; he exchanged a glance with Robin, gave a slight nod, as if silently conveying their resolve to fight side by side.

Lily unconsciously bit her lip, her eyes revealing a hint of unease, but it was quickly replaced by resolve.

She tightened her grip on her weapon, straightened her back, ready to jump into battle at any moment.

Tomson's honest face showed a hint of panic; he unconsciously moved closer to Robin and whispered, "Robin… what should we do?"

Robin patted his shoulder, reassuring, "Don't panic; follow the Malizi Knight Captain's command, we'll face it together."

Upon hearing Noding's shout, the Malizi Knight immediately strode over, his expression grave, eyes like torches, scanning the crowd and saying, "Everyone, don't panic, keep formation, follow me. Remember, don't act rashly—everything as I command!" Having said that, he led the way toward the sound, and the others followed closely.

Before the headquarters of the Black Bear Thieves Guild, the canyon was filled with a killing aura.

Corpses already littered the ground; the air reeked of strong blood mixed with dust, nauseating.

Before the canyon, two knights were engaged in a heart‑pounding slaughter.

One side was Knight Fitz under the Bloet Lord, tall and burly, like a towering iron pillar.

At that moment, he gripped a two‑handed great sword with both hands; the blade was broad and thick, flashing a chilling cold light in the sunlight.

Each swing produced a whooshing wind, as if it could tear the air apart.

His opponent was one of the thieves guild's vice‑leaders, Benluote, known by the epithet Wild Boar Knight.

Benluote was short and stocky, like a wild boar coiled to strike, radiating a fierce vigor.

His weapon was a saw‑toothed battle axe, its blade covered in sharp teeth that could easily rip through enemy armor and flesh in combat.

Fitz roared and launched the first attack.

He leapt high, his two‑handed great sword bearing immense force, chopping toward Benluote's head.

The sword's momentum was like Mount Tai pressing down, chilling to behold.

Benluote, however, was unflustered; he slightly bent his knees, lowered his body, and using leg strength he swiftly raised the saw‑toothed battle axe to precisely block Fitz's strike.

The clang of metal was deafening, sparks flying, the tremendous impact making both arms tremble slightly.

After a brief stalemate, Benluote burst with power, pushing Fitz's great sword aside, then lunged forward a step, the saw‑toothed axe tracing an arc to sweep horizontally at Fitz's waist.

Fitz reacted swiftly, sidestepping so the axe scraped his armor, leaving a deep gouge.

Fitz seized the moment, smashing the sword hilt hard at Benluote's head; Benluote hastily blocked with his arm, grunted, and staggered back a few steps.

The two exchanged blows, neither yielding, each attack unleashing full force, each defense performed with utmost care.

The surrounding air seemed ignited by their battle spirit, filled with a tense atmosphere.

More corpses lay on the ground, blood spreading wider; this fierce melee—who knows when it will end.

Robin stared wide‑eyed, unblinking, fixed on the two knights locked in fierce combat before him.

When their weapons clashed, a powerful gust surged toward him, making his hair and clothes flutter.

He instinctively raised his arm to shield himself; through the gaps in his fingers, his eyes were full of shock.

Robin swallowed, mentally estimating that the force of each weapon clash far exceeded a thousand jin, possibly even more.

This power already far surpassed what he believed a human could achieve.

That tremendous force seemed capable of splitting mountains and shattering stone, making the very earth tremble.
