Chapter 86: Wizard Council
Robin returned to his room, closed the door, and let out a long sigh.
His current situation is extremely dangerous.
Although Lina temporarily believed his excuse, she was clearly still wary of him.
Fortunately, his inadvertent use of those Gold Coins as ordinary coins proved his ignorance.
The secret behind those Gold Coins evidently involves a larger force—whether the Black Wizard Organization or the Wizard Council, neither is something he can confront now.
"I must boost my strength as soon as possible…" Robin muttered softly, a flash of resolve crossing his eyes.
He sat cross‑legged on the bed, beginning to enter a Meditation State. Since mastering the basic Meditation Method, his perception and control of Magic Power have improved markedly.
Though he is still only a First Apprentice Wizard, he believes that with diligent cultivation, reaching the Second-level Wizard Apprentice is not an unattainable goal.
In meditation, Robin felt the surrounding Magic Power flowing slowly, like an invisible river.
He tried to guide that Magic Power into his body, gradually increasing his Magic Power reserves.
As time passed, his consciousness sank into a marvelous state, as if merging with the surrounding Magic Power.
Yet just as he was about to enter a deeper level of meditation, a rapid knock sounded from outside the door.
"Luo Yi, open the door quickly!" shouted Karl, his tone edged with anxiety.
Robin snapped out of the Meditation State, rose and opened the door. Karl stood outside, his face grim: "Something's happened—Lina's missing!"
Robin's heart tightened: "What's going on?"
Karl shook his head: "I don't know. I just went to discuss tomorrow's itinerary with her and found her room empty, even her luggage gone."
Robin frowned, a vague unease rising. Lina's sudden disappearance was clearly no coincidence.
He quickly linked the Gold Coins and Lina's extreme attitude toward the Black Wizards.
"Could she have gone to the Wizard Council?" Robin asked tentatively.
Karl nodded: "Possible. Lina has always been very sensitive about Black Wizard matters; if she thinks those Gold Coins are linked to the Black Wizards, she might report directly to the Wizard Council."
Robin thought silently, "This doesn't look good."
If Lina really handed the Gold Coins to the Wizard Council, his situation would become even more perilous.
The Wizard Council would likely investigate the source of the Gold Coins, and as the holder, he would inevitably be drawn in.
"We must leave here as soon as possible," Robin whispered, "If the Wizard Council intervenes, things will get very complicated."
Karl hesitated briefly, then nodded in agreement: "You're right. We can't afford any more delay; we set out now."
The two quickly packed their luggage and slipped out of the inn. In the night, the streets of Black Stone Town seemed especially desolate.
Robin and Karl hurried along a narrow alley, trying to leave the town before the Wizard Council's men arrived.
Yet just as they were about to exit the town, several dark silhouettes suddenly appeared ahead, blocking their path.
"Luo Yi Black, you really are here," a cold voice said.
Robin's heart sank; looking up, he saw several figures clad in black robes staring at him coldly. Their attire and bearing instantly reminded him of the Black Wizards.
"Who are you?" Karl asked warily, his hand already on the hilt of his Sword.
The leading Black-robed Man sneered: "Who we are doesn't matter. What matters is, Luo Yi Black, the thing in your hand is what we want."
Robin's heart tightened, knowing they meant the Gold Coins. He whispered to Karl: "Be careful, these people aren't simple."
Karl nodded, drawing his long Sword: "Looks like we have to force our way through."
The Black-robed Man waved his hand, and several of his subordinates quickly surrounded them. Combat was about to erupt.
Robin swiftly entered combat mode, his long Sword flashing with a cold gleam.
The battle was unusually fierce; the Black-robed Man's subordinates were clearly well‑trained Knights, and their attacks put Robin and Karl in a hard fight.
Although Robin's control of Magic Power had improved, his Knight cultivation was only at Mid-stage, so when facing Wizards‑trained Knights, he still felt outmatched.
Just as a Black-robed Knight forced Robin into a corner, a scorching Fireball shot in from the side, repelling that Knight.
"Luo Yi, step back!" a familiar voice called.
Robin turned and saw Lina standing not far away, her staff flashing with dazzling light.
"Lina?" Robin said, surprised.
Lina said coldly: "Don't misunderstand; I'm only here to retrieve what belongs to the Wizard Council."
Robin's heart sank, realizing the situation was irretrievable. He quickly fell back beside Karl, whispering: "We need to find a way out."
Karl nodded, a resolute glint in his eyes: "I'll hold them off; you find a chance to escape."
Robin shook his head: "No, we go together!"
At that moment, the Black-robed Man burst into a loud laugh: "None of you can get away!"
As his words fell, more Black-robed Men emerged from the surrounding darkness, encircling Robin and the others.
Robin gripped his Sword tightly, yet felt a wave of helplessness.
He was already in a dead end. Neither the Black Wizards nor the Wizard Council would let him go easily.
Yet just as he prepared to make a desperate gamble, a low rumble resonated in the sky.
Immediately, a blinding light descended from heaven, instantly dispersing the surrounding darkness.
"Who dares move my people?" a commanding voice thundered.
Robin looked up to see a middle‑aged man in a silver‑white long robe hovering in the air, his gaze icy as he surveyed the Black-robed men below.
"It's the Great Wizard of the Wizard Council!" Lina exclaimed.
The Black-robed Man's face turned pale, he gritted his teeth, and gestured for his subordinates to retreat.
Soon, the Black-robed Men vanished into the darkness.
Robin let out a sigh of relief, but his mind grew more tangled.
He could now confirm that he had been drawn into a larger vortex.
Neither the Black Wizards nor the Wizard Council would let him go easily.
The man in a silver-white long robe slowly descended onto the ground, his gaze sweeping over Robin and the others, finally coming to rest on Robin.
"Are you Luo Yi Black?" the man asked.
Robin nodded, his heart filled with vigilance.
The man gave a slight smile, his tone carrying a hint of deep meaning: "The thing in your hand has caused quite a stir!"
Robin's heart tightened, knowing the man was referring to those Gold Coin. He said in a low voice: "I merely came by them by chance, and I don't know their origin."
