Chapter 111: Thoughts (Written for Love)
Thoughts (Written for Love)
The author himself is also an old bookworm; originally suffering from a book shortage, he wondered if he could try writing a novel.
At first, he thought of writing a fanfic to practice, then a fantasy, a historical, and an urban novel.
But as soon as he started writing, he was at a loss, losing money in various ways.
He didn't really understand conflict tropes and such; he just wanted to give it a try, to see if he could also write a novel.
Then he quietly started typing away by himself.
He kept typing until he had nearly 300,000 words, then finally mustered the courage to start posting; it was completely just him indulging himself.
When he posted, he set himself a FLAG: as long as any readers looked, he would definitely finish this debut work.
Upon releasing the new book, all kinds of hesitations and grandiose, unrealistic fantasies arose.
Sure enough, it flopped~
He posted 10,000 words each day for ten days straight, yet only got 100 recommendation tickets, not a single monthly ticket or reward.
Even the investment was pitifully small.
What annoyed the author most was that, out of those 100 recommendation tickets, 10 were his own.
This forced him to face reality: his work really flopped, and it was a horribly inhumane flop.
As the word count grew, he gradually gained some exposure, and the number of readers increased.
Then he was bombarded with all kinds of criticism:
Typos, slow pacing, blandness, filler, toxic plot, and various other issues.
I couldn't easily change the plot; revising would be a huge undertaking, so I could only grit my teeth and keep posting.
Now I've given up on treatment; my sole pursuit is to finish this book.
The initial goal is 1 million words. (Actually 800,000 words would also do.)
As for continuing to write fantasy, historical, and the like, I dare not even think about it~
I hope there will be readers who can support me to the end!
