Chapter 43: Elite Contract

Six days later.

At noon on January 30, after arriving at the branch station, Lin Qing went straight to the secret room for learning combat techniques.

Although only half of the debt for the combat technique "Speed" had been repaid, in fact, six days ago he could have directly come to the branch station's secret room to verify his identity as a "combat technique genius."

It was just that three days was too fast, far quicker than the "ten days" he had mentioned before, while nine days was just right.

Anyway, even if he were faster, the treatment would not be better; before understanding the actual situation of the Patrol Headquarters, it was better to keep a low profile.

Years of life in the apocalypse had brought him one lesson: keep a low profile and try to hide your trump cards.

Choosing today was perfect to finalize the matter before February.

"So fast?"

In the dim secret room, the hoarse voice carried a hint of surprise, then said: "Then demonstrate the combat technique 'Speed.' Don't worry; there are monitoring instruments in this secret room. Whether you have mastered it can be easily determined."

"Good."

Lin Qing nodded slightly and immediately activated the combat technique "Speed." His entire body became like a swift wind, instantly traveling from one end of the secret room to the other. His posture was light and ethereal, but he still pushed against the wall with both hands before stopping his body.

There was no way around it; "Speed" was simply too fast. A single casual step covered dozens of meters, making distance control difficult. In a room with only ten meters of horizontal and vertical space, the restrictions were naturally very great.

This was also the flaw of "Speed." As a combat technique of pure speed, it was only good at pursuit and escape.

"Indeed, you have mastered 'Speed'!"

The hoarse voice immediately laughed. "It has only been nine days. Your talent in combat techniques and your compatibility with the 'Free Body' are truly astonishing. In terms of combat techniques alone, compared to some true geniuses, you are not inferior."

Lin Qing could not help but ask: "True geniuses?"

"Yes."

The hoarse voice said: "For example, the 'Excellent' level aptitude assessed by the Chaoyang Martial Arts Hall. Such geniuses, with just a little effort, can inevitably master the original Chaoyang training method, and even breaking the genetic shackles and achieving genetic awakening is not very difficult!"

"Such geniuses find it easy to cultivate combat techniques, just like you, or even faster."

He sighed: "However... such a genius would not come to serve as a Patrol Officer. They would either directly join the Chaoyang Martial Arts Hall or enter some major powers in the Urban Circle."

Lin Qing suddenly understood.

Let alone the Patrol, no organization or system in the world, not even the official government, could retain true elite talents.

Elite talents in all fields worldwide are almost concentrated in the Urban Circle.

"You need not envy them. Although conditions in all aspects are better in the Urban Circle, it is not necessarily a good thing."

The somewhat hoarse voice said: "I cannot speak specifically to you, but you can find out for yourself later. Without sufficient strength, the status of many geniuses after going to the Urban Circle... heh..."

Towards the end, he actually let out a slightly mocking laugh.

Lin Qing could not help but feel puzzled.

Going to the Urban Circle is not necessarily a good thing for geniuses?

"Enough talk. This is the contract prepared for you by the Patrol Headquarters. You can take a look."

The hoarse voice said: "Since it is confirmed that you have talent in combat techniques, the Patrol Headquarters will give you the best treatment and will try its best to help you master the original Chaoyang training method."

As he spoke, the projection on the wall instantly turned into pages of contracts.

The title was "Preliminary Elite Patrol Training Contract."

Lin Qing looked carefully and found that the obligations were nothing more than the requirements of the Patrol system.

As for the treatment and benefits, they were mainly the three points mentioned earlier:

Party B can obtain ten sets of high-energy slow-release liquid from the EPS series for free.

After Party B is awarded a First-Class Merit, they can enjoy certain privileges of a Special-Class Merit in advance.

Party B will be personally guided and taught the original Chaoyang training method by the City Patrol Chief. Once successful, and if their strength reaches the level of a Patrol Chief, they can join the Global Elite Patrol Department.

However, two reminder items on the last page of the contract caught his attention.

'1. If Party B fails to master the original Chaoyang training method before January 1, 2125, they will automatically lose the qualification to join the Elite Patrol Department.'

'2. If Party B masters the original Chaoyang training method and masters the original 'Free Body' combat technique before January 1, 2122, they can obtain benefits regarding genetic optimization.'

Looking at these two reminders, Lin Qing could not help but fall into thought.

It is now the end of January 2121, with less than four years remaining until January 2125. That is to say, if the original Chaoyang training method is not mastered within four years, his qualification to join the Elite Patrol Department will be cancelled.

Conversely, if the original Chaoyang training method is mastered within this year, and the original 'Free Body' combat technique is mastered, then he can receive this so-called benefit regarding genetic optimization? "Genetic optimization?"

Lin Qing asked aloud.

"Yes, this is the greatest benefit of this contract."

The hoarse voice sighed: "Even if the original Chaoyang training method is mastered, the probability of genetic awakening is very low. Unless your genes are naturally superior enough, no matter how hard you try, you cannot achieve genetic awakening."

"But with various treatment and benefits regarding genetic optimization, it is possible to optimize your genes, giving hope to break the genetic shackles in the future."

The hoarse voice said: "The older you get, the more difficult genetic optimization becomes. If you can demonstrate sufficient talent, the Patrol Headquarters is naturally willing to pay a great price to provide you with genetic optimization."

Lin Qing slightly narrowed his eyes.

Unless one's genes are naturally superior, no matter how hard one tries, genetic awakening is impossible?

The Entropy Reverser can only advance what he is capable of doing.

If something cannot be done no matter how hard one tries or how much luck one has, then naturally it cannot be advanced.

For example, the ability to proficiently give birth is something he cannot do.

"Then I must achieve the requirements within this year, within eleven months..."

Lin Qing set a goal in his heart.

The original Chaoyang training method, and the original 'Free Body' combat technique.

He must strive to realize both of these.

"If there are no problems with the contract, you can proceed with the identification via DNA, iris, and fingerprint right now."

The hoarse voice said: "If you have not considered it well, there is no need to rush. You can think slowly; just give me your reply within today."

"There is nothing to hesitate about." Lin Qing shook his head slightly and added: "However, I do have one thing I want to ask."

"Speak. Although the room for negotiation in this contract is small, it is not impossible to change." That somewhat hoarse voice said.

Lin Qing pondered for a moment and said, "The first benefit, the EPS series High-Energy Sustained-Release Liquid, is provided to me for free in ten sets, correct? But if I do not use up all ten sets, can the remainder be exchanged for cash?"

"Cash? Of course."

That hoarse voice said, "There have been such cases before. If you are skilled enough to save some of the Sustained-Release Liquid, the saved portion can be exchanged for cash. This is also the startup capital given to you potential stocks."

Lin Qing's heart immediately rejoiced.

"However..."

That hoarse voice said again, "After the ten sets of High-Energy Sustained-Release Liquid are delivered to you via encrypted transport, even if you have leftovers after consumption, you cannot sell them privately. You can only sell them to our Patrol Headquarters for buyback at the maximum discount price, which is 1.2 million per set, or 120,000 per vial."

He added a reminder, "Additionally, the EPS series High-Energy Sustained-Release Liquid has the effect of increasing physical potential. You must consume at least one set for your physical potential to return to its peak state, making it easier to master the original Chaoyang Method in the future. Do not sacrifice your future for a little money."

"I understand."

Lin Qing nodded slightly.

He had already calculated it.

He only needed about 110 days to complete the Qiqi version of the Chaoyang Method, while the EPS series High-Energy Sustained-Release Liquid offers four times the cultivation efficiency.

Consuming one vial of High-Energy Sustained-Release Liquid per day, he would only need less than thirty days to finish it.

That means consuming less than thirty vials.

The remaining seventy-plus vials would be useless to him. If the Patrol Headquarters buys them back at 120,000 per vial, that is over eight million!

With this money, he could completely replace his cousin's mechanical prosthetic limb with a better one! Since it was given to him for free anyway, using the unused portion to achieve greater effect, isn't that perfect? "However, what do you want to buy with the money?" That hoarse voice asked in confusion.

"A mechanical prosthetic limb."

Lin Qing said, "My sister's leg was amputated due to Patrol work. I want to replace it with a high-grade mechanical prosthetic limb."

"I see." That hoarse voice realized, suddenly chuckled, and said, "Wait a moment. There is still room for negotiation on this matter. I can ask for instructions on your behalf."
