Chapter 383: Breaking in the Newbie

The jungler keeps snatching the mid lane's blue buff—is it a distortion of play, or a moral decline? Fu Lan Duo then launches a discussion with Liang Yan.

Liang Yan's opinion is:

"Actually, it's just not being taken seriously enough; if it were EDG, this kind of thing would hardly happen."

"Why?"

"Stealing the blue buff incurs a fine."

"What the hell?"

"I think we could also institute such a rule."

Marquis happened to take off his headset, preparing to go to the restroom, and upon hearing this, immediately said:

"No need, no need, I don't need the blue buff either!"

This remark was picked up by Liang Yan's microphone, and the audience in the livestream heard it.

【hahaha】

【Marquis, just indulge him】

【Now everyone knows who is carrying for VG, right→_→】

Gangzi couldn't hold back either after hearing Marquis's words, and retorted:

"Marquis, if you give him the blue buff now, later you'll be eating his minion wave!"

Marquis said:

"No problem, I can eat."

Everyone:

"What the hell!"

"It's over, it's over."

"Marquis has completely turned into the shape of Little Foot Brother."

Liang Yan suddenly turned around and shouted at Long Ge:

"Long Ge, how about we reward Luxuanjun with a Nael tomorrow?"

"Huh?"

Zhu Xiaolong's face changed,

"Really, really?"

"I don't care; worst case we lose~"

Fu Lan Duo said in a slick, oily tone.

"Tomorrow VG's opponent is no mere pushover, but the strong WE."

"Although WE's top laner 957 isn't a strongly aggressive player, Fu Lan Duo's Nael is truly…… describable in one word: trash."

"Of course, this season Nael isn't a strong top laner either; no one insists he must practice; that day playing GT was Fu Lan Duo's own choice to play; this kind of self-proving match, Liang Yan usually doesn't help; as a result, Fu Lan Duo got crushed by Gimgoon to shreds, and Fu Lan Duo finally realized her Nael isn't that good."

……

"The 18th is Saturday; adding a match on weekends is LPL convention; with three matches, VG vs WE is scheduled as the second, timing not awkward."

"The first match is GT vs NB; these two teams, placed in the B group of the so-called 'Group of Death,' are seen by netizens as relegation candidates, with average popularity, but the new venue's location is good, so on-site attendance is not low."

"When the first game was about to finish, the VG crew arrived at Zhengda Guangchang; after tidying up in the dressing room and returning to the lounge, the result of the first game had already come out."

"Pay up!"

"As soon as Liang Yan entered, he saw the score on the wall TV: GT 1-0 NB, and immediately reached out his hand to Fu Lan Duo and Gangzi."

"Damn, GT can really win?"

"Fu Lan Duo cursed, reluctantly pulling out a red bill from his pocket."

"Unbelievable, how did they win?"

"Gangzi also pulled out a red bill and handed it to Liang Yan."

"Liang Yan, satisfied, flicked the two hundred yuan twice, then turned and handed it to Sima Laozei, saying:"

"Ma Ge collects the money; someone has sponsored the dinner expenses."

"Sima Laozei stared, couldn't help twitching the corner of his mouth, and silently accepted."

"This is really weird."

"Fu Lan Duo, unwilling to accept losing the bet, sat down and started pulling out his phone, intending to watch the match replay to see why the talent-filled NB lost."

"I said, in a match of this level, if GT's top laner erupts just once, saving the world isn't hard, and he definitely has the advantage in lane, with a fairly high probability."

"Fu Lan Duo looked, and indeed Liang Yan's prediction came true."

"The whole match was just a personal performance by GT's top laner Gimgoon; with one Jayce he blasted the opposition into disarray."

"A crowd gathered to look at Fu Lan Duo's phone, and Sima Laozei commented:"

"Actually, this kind of game should have had the 'No State' player; it would have been more stable."

"'No State' is the former OMG mid laner Cool, who left the legendary line 'World's Number One Blow Job' in the summer of S5, known as the 'Emperor of Attitude,' and was a teammate of Ma Ge for a year last year."

"After Cold Shao joined the team last year, No State's appearances were gradually reduced; unwilling to be a substitute for newcomers, he transferred to NB this year."

"Originally, NB had brought in No State as a big leg, but didn't expect him to lose two in a row upon arrival—actually the blame can't be placed on No State; NB's two opponents were WE and VG, both tough teams, and NB wasn't easy to win anyway. But management didn't get it, thinking losing meant the players were no good, so they started rotating players, sidelining No State and bringing in the Korean import mid laner COCO from LCK, who promptly won two matches."

"Now No State is in trouble; if nothing unexpected happens, he'll likely be sitting on a cold bench for a long time, falling from peak to rock bottom in just two or three years, truly lamentable."

"Gangzi responded to Ma Ge's comment: 'I also think having No State would be better.'"

"Fu Lan Duo: 'But No State lost two in a row upon arrival, while COCO won two in a row; if I were the coach I'd also play COCO.'"

"Liang Yan: 'COCO really isn't good; this person's mentality isn't stable, after winning two games he got a bit cocky; in this match it looks like he looks down on the opponent, seeing them pick the off‑pick Viktor he just trolled around, whereas swapping in No State wouldn't play like that, and his floor is much higher.'"

"Sima Laozei: 'I think the awesome player lacks a bit in initiating team fights.'"

"Fu Lan Duo: 'Ma Ge is showing his lack of culture; they're actually called Newbee.'"

Sima Laozei: "Get lost."

Xiao Duan: "Indeed lacking a team starter, sigh, they don't have a new support called Pinus, right? Ma Ge's friend? That cool guy who ate hot pot with us last time!"

Sima Laozei: "Hmm, Liu Qingsong."

Xiao Duan then said: "Seems he joined NB together with their AD, I think his team fights are pretty strong, why does NB never let him play?"

Fu Lan Duo: "Brother Duan, you've been in the LPL this long and still don't get it? Newcomers don't just easily stand out, you gotta know you have to grind."

Xiao Duan laughed proudly:

"No way, I didn't have to grind in VG, I just came up right away."

Everyone simultaneously raised their middle fingers at Xiao Duan.

Xiao Duan has talent, but no matter how talented someone is, upon coming to the LPL they have to grind.

For example, Ma Ge, after his debut he also spent a considerable time grinding in the lower tiers, later he himself fought his way through the LSPL and broke into the LPL before finally making it.

Further back, Theshy, who is later called the strongest top laner in history, debuted earlier than Sima Laozei; in S3 he had a tryout with SKT, in S4 he joined a LCK secondary league team but got no playing time, then he came to China, staying in WE's academy until this year when he was traded to IG; previously he couldn't play due to age, now he's with IG, this spring he has reached the legal age to appear, yet he's still just guarding IG's water dispenser……

Who doesn't know Theshy has high talent?

You know, Theshy started streaming on WE very early, and although his online popularity is actually quite high, he still has to grind.

Someone like Xiao Duan, who in less than a year rose from the academy to the main squad and started appearing in the top league, is extremely rare in the LPL.
