Chapter 432: Oscar Night (Part 1)

Tabe was very optimistic about KT's prospects, but Liang Yan, upon hearing that, shook their head:

That hasn't come to this point.

Do you think they still can't beat SKT?

Speaking of strength, I think KT and SKT have no obvious gap, and Mata's command is not inferior to Faker's, but how to put it……

Liang Yan thought for a moment, then said something not so scientific:

The LCK region has always been rather sinister.

Tabe stared blankly:

Sinister? What does that mean.

Bloodline suppression, plus other weird buffs.

Tabe was dumbfounded, and couldn't help but look at Liang Yan with a very unfamiliar gaze.

He never expected Liang Yan would actually believe this.

But Liang Yan truly believes it.

For example, KT's perennial runner-up curse, and also last year's summer split, KT also posted a shutout record against Samsung in the playoffs, but still failed to win the championship, even failing to qualify for the S6 World Championship because they were overturned by Samsung in the qualifier gauntlet—hence the nickname 'Samsung Gauntlet King'.

Although there is no logic to verify the truth of supernatural things, when events happen repeatedly, you cannot help but believe.

Moreover, Liang Yan himself is a reborn person, even a reborn with cheats, which destines him to never become a true atheist; otherwise, if he discarded the supernatural, how would he explain what happened to him?

……

After KT's match against SSG ended, the LCK playoffs concluded, with the final to be held a week later. Global attention then shifted to the LPL.

April 16, the last day of the LPL regular season.

The first match of the day was VG versus WE.

The pre-match hype for this game was exaggeratedly high; starting from the previous night, discussion of match predictions dominated the major platforms across Chinese-language internet.

As for whether VG could defeat WE, the answer was almost without doubt; mainstream predictions overwhelmingly favored VG to win, so netizens focused on only one thing:

Whether VG could create the miracle of an undefeated regular season.

In the entire history of League of Legends, only three teams have achieved the miracle of an undefeated regular season, namely:

S3 season, OGN Winter Season regular season, SKT, 15-0.

S5 season, LCS-EU Summer Season regular season, FNC, 18-0.

S6 season, LPL Summer regular season, EDG, 16-0.

These are the teams that have achieved the undefeated record in regular-season big matches, and without exception they all won that season's playoff championship.

However, if the condition is narrowed to winning every small game, only one team in League of Legends history has achieved this: FNC in S5, when the European league used a Bo1 record during the regular season.

Nowadays the LPL regular season uses Bo3, which is obviously more difficult.

So, if VG truly can defeat WE 2-0 today, without a doubt they will leave a glorious page in LoL history.

As for Liang Yan personally, his record will also leave a very legendary entry.

VG boss Lu Wenjun personally led the team to the venue to supervise the battle. This time he did not bring a bag of cash, but before departure he had already made a verbal promise.

Speaking of which, this is already who-knows-how-many times Lu Wenjun has handed out extra bonuses this season; according to Xiao Duan's statistics, the bonuses he has received over these months have even amounted to one-third of his annual salary.

Others' annual salaries are higher than his, so the proportion is naturally not that high, but as Marquis said, if the boss continues to dispense money without restraint, he really worries whether the team's finances can hold up until the S season arrives. Hmm, this also reflects Marquis's optimism about future events.

At 3 p. m., the LPL main venue on the ninth floor of Zhengda Guangchang was packed to capacity.

At the same time, viewers on major streaming platforms worldwide also focused their attention on the LPL livestream, and big streamers with broadcasting rights switched their streams over early.

Everyone was ready to witness history.

The camera cut to the commentator's desk, with Wawa seated in the main position, her face showing suppressed excitement and the solemnity before the big battle, her loud voice echoing throughout the venue:

"Welcome, everyone! This is the live broadcast of the last match of the tenth week of the 2017 LPL Spring Regular Season schedule. Hello, I'm Wawa!"

"Hello, everyone, I'm Miller!"

"Hello, everyone, I'm Ze Yuan!"

"Time flies; the S6 World Championship feels like it was just yesterday, Jiao Shen's stunning counterattack against SKT still vivid in mind, and then in the blink of an eye, hey! The S7 Spring Season is almost over! Truly moving."

"Yes, in the blink of an eye it's already the last day of the regular season."

"Alright, I believe everyone here and in front of the screens can't wait! Indeed, today's first match will be VG versus WE, bringing you the action; both teams' players have already taken the stage! Before BP begins, let's talk about this match that has captured countless eyes!"

"To be frank, I estimate today's match is very likely to break the LPL peak concurrent viewership record."

"I just checked Mouse Platform; without exaggeration, all the top streamers in the LoL section are talking about this match!"

"Nobody is playing chicken dinner anymore."

"What insane traffic……"

The camera cut to the venue; the audience seats were filled with VG light sticks, with hardly any 60e in sight.

Then the camera turned to the player benches; VG members were chatting and laughing, while WE side appeared surprisingly relaxed—even Redmi, who usually maintains a stern demeanor, had a strange smile on his face, hands behind his back, slowly pacing behind the WE players.

Seeing this, those who had harbored some speculation since WE lost to QG the day before began to sense a subtle hint, feeling that, from some angle, today's match might turn out very unexpectedly.

And as the ban/pick phase began, this feeling grew stronger.

"Huh?! Is WE going to release Green Steel Shadow?"

"No way, the match isn't using patch 7.7; Green Steel Shadow is still strong, so it shouldn't be released."

"The last ban is Spider! Wow! They really released it!"

"This……"

Even the commentators felt something was off.

"VG won't stand on ceremony with you; they'll just snatch Green Steel Shadow."

"Then WE needs to grab Lulu Mang Seng, otherwise the AD won't be safe, and besides Shen has already been banned by themselves, so the third pick will likely have to be either the crocodile or Kennen, otherwise there won't be much to choose from in the second rotation."

"What?! Nae'l?!"
