Chapter 607: Promotion Project
That evening, Lu Wenjun drove from home to Ji Di.
He parked the car steadily in the parking lot, got out and walked toward the base gate, holding the car keys, a finger stuck in the keychain turning continuously, and he hummed a tune softly.
Upon entering Ji Di, he had taken only two steps when he saw Gao Jun standing before the display case, holding a soft white cloth, wiping the Demacia Championship Trophy he had received less than twenty-four hours ago; he would wipe twice, blow on it, wipe twice again, his face full of satisfied pleasure.
Actually there was no dust on the trophy; he just couldn't put it down.
Hearing footsteps, Gao Jun turned his head, saw the boss, hurriedly set the trophy properly, turned around and greeted Lu Wenjun, his expression looking a bit embarrassed.
Lu Wenjun returned the greeting, smiling as he walked over to Gao Jun's side.
"Has the trophy arrived?"
"Hmm..."
Gao Jun lifted his head to look at the display case, unable to help feeling emotional,
"All of a sudden we have several more trophies; to be honest, I'm still not used to it..."
He then pointed at the display case,
"Before, to keep this place from looking empty, I could only put some decorations up, but every time I passed I didn't dare look at this cabinet, feeling guilty."
"Yeah..."
Lu Wenjun looked at the three trophies in the display case and also sighed with satisfaction,
"In half a year, we've won three championships; it's indeed hard to get used to..."
Inside the display case, soft warm-colored lights shone on the three trophies arranged in layers.
Counting from the top down:
The topmost is the MSI Championship Trophy won last month, known as the Conqueror's Cup; its design lines are relatively simple, not as elaborate as the S Summoner's Cup, with a sphere on top, the stem looking like several hands twisted together, the base resembling a large crystal from Summoner's Rift, the trophy's overall lines clean and neat, all gold presenting a gilded texture, now placed in VG's display case, under the warm light it refracts bright golden light.
It is worth mentioning that this trophy is the genuine MSI Championship Trophy brought back from Ba Xi, not a memorial model; this Conqueror's Cup is placed on the second tier.

Moving down one layer, the third tier holds the LPL Spring Championship Trophy—the Silver Dragon Cup, full name Silver Gleam Dragon Coiled Cup, a 2015 redesign, entirely silver-white, the real cup is silver-plated on the surface, extremely heavy, nearly half a meter tall and weighing about sixty jin; given the generally weak physique of esports players, a person might not even be able to lift it when raising the cup. However this is a reduced-size memorial model; the real cup has already been returned to the LPL.
The Silver Dragon Cup's biggest feature is the Chinese dragon motif running throughout: the body is engraved with dragon scale and cloud patterns, the stem is a coiling dragon, each side has a raised silver dragon, the dragon head protrudes outward, the dragon eyes are set with supposedly Swarovski crystals that flash especially when lit.
Although this is a model cup, its overall craftsmanship is equally fine; at a glance it looks imposing, and placed there it naturally exudes a kingly aura.

Further down, the fourth tier holds the Demacia Championship Cup that Gao Jun had just been admiring; this trophy has no official name, industry usually calls it the De Cup, and after the recent format reform a place name can be added—for example, this VG one is called the De Cup Changsha Cup.
Although the De Cup lacks the prestige of the previous two, when it comes to championship trophy design it actually feels more LoL‑like than those before: the outstretched wing‑shaped handles resemble the giant wings of a remodeled Galio, and at a glance you know it's a LoL trophy.

Lu Wenjun's gaze swept slowly over the three trophies, finally lifting his head to rest on the topmost tier.
This tier is still empty.
But Lu Wenjun's eyes were full of anticipation, as if he could already see a radiant Summoner's Cup placed up there.
Gao Jun glanced at the boss, knowing what he was thinking, and a similar anticipation welled up in his heart.
Ding ding dong ding ding dong!
Suddenly a ringtone broke their reverie; Gao Jun hurriedly pulled his phone from his pocket, glanced at the caller ID—it was completely unknown.
He glanced at Lu Wenjun, who saw the doubt in his eyes.
"Who?"
"I don't know."
"It probably isn't a sponsor, right?"
Lu Wenjun smiled, raised his chin,
"Answer it and see."
Gao Jun answered the call, turned on speakerphone, and the other side immediately launched into a spiel:
"Hello, may I speak with Manager Gao of the VG Team? Hey hello, I'm xxx from the xx platform. Like this, our platform is currently running a promotion project with very high pay; I wanted to ask if you're interested in learning more..."
Gao Jun chatted with the caller for a while, then finally left the two sentences "I need to discuss this with the players and also report to Boss Lu" before hanging up.
Lu Wenjun heard everything clearly from the side; after Gao Jun hung up, his brows furrowed slightly:
"Why are they looking for us for a PUBG promotion?"
"I'm not sure."
Gao Jun also looked puzzled,
"We've never indicated any intention to form a team for this project; logically we shouldn't be approached, yet they're offering such a high price…"
The caller spoke directly: if VG signs the promotion contract within a week, from the signing date to the next ten days, each player of VG's League of Legends Division must stream PUBG for at least one hour daily to earn a two‑million‑yuan promotion fee.
Anyone familiar with promotion rates would know upon hearing this fee: a two‑million‑yuan promotion contract is definitely a big deal.
But why would this big deal come to VG? After all, VG hasn't even set up a PUBG division, and the management has completely never hinted at forming a team!
Could it be that they simply noticed how hot VG's League of Legends Division has been lately?
Or perhaps—
"I think… they're probably drawn to Xiao Liang's popularity."
Gao Jun hesitated before voicing his suspicion; aside from this reason, he really couldn't think of anything else.
Lu Wenjun nodded, thought for a moment, then analyzed:
"I have some knowledge of this project; in the LPL, any team with a bit of fame has almost certainly streamed this game, probably after signing with them, so right now it looks like we're the only ones not yet involved."
"They didn't approach us before perhaps because they wanted to wait and see, or wait for us to catch up with the trend and join the fun, becoming their water‑cooler chatter; but now that our results keep improving and our popularity keeps rising, they can't sit still, so they've come to us."
"Moreover, the main reason they came over is likely what you said—aiming at Xiao Liang."
Lu Wenjun paused, then instructed:
"They're looking for you, so you get to decide on this, but you must handle it carefully, ask everyone's opinion thoroughly, especially Xiao Liang's."
I understood.
