Chapter 814: Just for you to see
The car pulled into the underground parking garage.
After getting out of the car, Tang Anna looked around; her expression was also rather subtle.
The cars parked around were each more expensive than the last, several bore consecutive Shanghai A license plates, and a few were covered with dustproof cloths—just looking at the models showed they weren't ordinary vehicles. Wang Liangyi's battered car, which had changed hands who knows how many times, rolled in and stuck out conspicuously.
"Whose place are we going to?"
"Mine."
Liang Yan pressed the elevator button and at the same time handed over a bunch of house keys.
Tang Anna stared for a moment, then slowly took the keys.
"When did you buy it?"
"Just a few days ago."
"I didn't even know……"
"Didn't I bring you here?"
Tang Anna remained silent and followed Liang Yan into the elevator.
With a ding, the elevator stopped and soft sensing lights lit up outside.
Tang Anna stepped out of the elevator; right ahead was a door. Basically, this elevator on this floor serves only this household, giving maximum privacy. Out of curiosity, Tang Anna walked around a corner, looked left and right: two households per floor, three elevators total, with the middle one reserved for the maid.
The door lock was actually a smart lock; the key was just a backup. Liang Yan walked over, pressed his fingerprint to unlock, and pushed the door open. Inside, the light was dim, relying only on the light that filtered in from the living‑room floor‑to‑ceiling window and the balcony.
Liang Yan didn't turn on the lights, placed a pair of slippers on the floor, stepped aside, and let Tang Anna enter.
Tang Anna stood in the foyer, changing her shoes while glancing inside.
Liang Yan hadn't touched the renovation; he'd only added a few pieces of furniture, and he himself never had time to come clean up—everything had been done by Lu Wenjun at his request.
Tang Anna entered, walked to the unobstructed floor‑to‑ceiling window, and outside lay the Huangpu River—the water dark and heavy, while on the opposite bank some of the old buildings along the Bund still had lights on.
Tang Anna stood by the window for a while, then turned to look at Liang Yan standing behind her.
"This location……must be pretty expensive, right?"
"Not bad."
"……One hundred million?"
"Not quite, but close."
"Hmph..."
Liang Yan heard Tang Anna's slight displeasure and asked, "What's wrong?"
Tang Anna gave him a sideways glance, ignored him, turned and walked inside, apparently intending to look around.
Liang Yan then switched on the lights, and a soft warm glow spread across the living room.
"Living here all alone, aren't you afraid?"
"I never said I'd live here alone."
"What?"
Tang Anna was peeking into the study; hearing that, she turned her head in puzzlement to look at Liang Yan.
Liang Yan smiled at her and repeated, "I never said I'd live here alone."
Tang Anna showed a confused expression.
Liang Yan then explained, "Normally I definitely wouldn't stay here; when I do come over, I bring friends. Just a couple of days ago we even held a barbecue party."
Tang Anna gave him a complex look for a moment, answered with a sound, then turned her head away.
After touring the house, Tang Anna returned to the living room; her slender figure stood by the floor‑to‑ceiling window, faintly revealing a sense of detachment never seen before, her pale shadow stretched long across the floor.
Liang Yan could tell Tang Anna had something on her mind, but he didn't disturb her, merely letting her sit quietly alone to think.
Tang Anna gazed at the picturesque night scenery outside, silent for who knows how long, then slowly turned to stare straight at Liang Yan.
"You bought this house—are you planning to stay long‑term in the country?"
Her voice wasn't loud, her tone flat, as if she were asking offhand.
Liang Yan looked at her, then at her unconsciously clenched fists, and said calmly, "I haven't made any decision, nor have I seriously considered this matter; this house was just an impulse buy. However, if nothing special influences me, I would indeed be more inclined to settle here in the future. But it doesn't have to be Shanghai."
Tang Anna gave an "oh" and said nothing more.
Liang Yan didn't urge her either.
Some things don't need to be figured out right away; she asked Liang Yan and he shared his thoughts with her, but she didn't continue the conversation, so Liang Yan let her think on her own, because he didn't want to interfere with her decision.
As a result, Tang Anna proved even less able to hide her thoughts than Liang Yan had expected.
"What about me?"
Tang Anna lowered her head, twisted her fingers, and asked softly. She is a Norwegian national, having grown up in Norway since childhood; although her parents have divorced, that place is where she lived for over a decade.
Put bluntly, although Tang Anna has Chinese heritage, Norway is her homeland.
And Liang Yan is Chinese; he now competes domestically, bought the house in Shanghai. The key is that he purchased this house without consulting her at all, meaning that when he contemplated his future, he completely left her out of his plans……
Tang Anna's nose felt sore, and at the same time she felt embarrassed.
Liang Yan saw this, knew she had misunderstood, took a light breath, and said solemnly, "You might not have noticed just now, so I'll say it again: this house was an impulse buy."
"An impulse buy of a hundred‑million‑yuan house?"
Her father, whose net worth runs into several billion, wouldn't dare say that; back when he eyed that Shanghai property but didn't buy it, it was because he thought the cost‑performance ratio was too low.
Liang Yan's total assets are at most one or two billion; spending half of them on this house—could that really be a casual decision?
And Tang Anna isn't stupid either; of course she couldn't believe it.
Liang Yan saw that, gave a helpless smile, and sat down on the sofa.
After sitting and thinking for a while, he raised his hand toward the obviously sulking Tang Anna and said, "Come here."
"What for?"
Tang Anna looked at his calm expression, grew even angrier, and more grievance welled up from her heart.
Liang Yan took out his phone and waved it at her: "Come over, let me show you something."
Tang Anna blinked, finally slowly walked over and sat down beside him, about half a meter away.
Liang Yan lifted his butt and sat over, right next to her.
Tang Anna felt awkward.
He hasn't even planned any future with me, why is he doing something so intimate?
What is he treating her as?
"Just say what you have to say..."
Tang Anna felt ashamed and annoyed that she hadn't sat farther away.
Liang Yan didn't speak, just busy opening a securities app and logging into his account.
Then he turned the phone screen toward Tang Anna.
"I have two more accounts similar to this one."
Tang Anna glanced at it briefly, then looked at Liang Yan, puzzled.
Tang Anna knew Liang Yan traded stocks, and knew he was very talented in that area, but she hadn't paid much attention to it before, thinking that compared to his main job income, his stock gains were just a nice bonus.
"Look closely." He guessed the numbers were a bit small and Tang Anna didn't see clearly, so Liang Yan had to remind.
Tang Anna then shifted her gaze and looked seriously at the phone screen.
Actually, no need to count: in the total assets column, every three digits are separated by a comma, making four groups total, the last group being two digits, starting with 3.
Moreover, the available funds column matches the total assets exactly, meaning Liang Yan has liquidated all his stocks, and the account holds pure cash assets.
Eleven digits...
Over three hundred billion!
Three accounts!!!
Tang Anna was completely stunned.
"You..."
"I've only shown this to you." Liang Yan said seriously.
Tang Anna opened her mouth but couldn't say anything.
Obviously he wasn't bragging or just making up an excuse to fool her.
This house, he really bought it on a whim.
The living room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop, even each other's faint breathing could be heard.
Tang Anna finally fully understood what Liang Yan meant by his earlier words; now it was her turn to express her stance.
Suddenly, Tang Anna felt her face burning up.
