Chapter 84: The War Against the Sea Elves Begins

~6 min read 1,115 words

"That monster! That wizard! He killed our father! He killed our friends and family! Our prince is a coward; he is incompetent and timid, thinking only of so-called optimal solutions, but this is the Old World! There is no such thing as an optimal solution! All we must do is fight back!"

Amidst the ocean, the voices of the Sea Elves passed through their Soul Connection.

These monsters with incomplete souls possessed a subtle, indescribable way of communicating with one another. They often chose to use this soul communication to alleviate the pain of their own fragmentation.

But now, it was no longer the time to mask the pain. Their prince was a disgraceful fellow; he had confidently launched a so-called seminar, only to prove that the people of the Old World were one crazier and more powerful than the next. Since that was the case, why not simply be brave? Could it be that their blades were sharp, yet we had no sharp swords of our own?

"The prince has been killed! Now, all we must do is sink that wizard's flagship! Since that madman has invoked such a terrifying ritual, he must pay a painful price!"

Riding a marine behemoth that had leaped from the ocean and surged into the high sky, the young Sea Elf raised the blade in their hand and let out a rousing cry.

"Look! That sun in the sky! That brilliant light is so dazzling, as if we were certain to be drowned in that radiance! But shall we admit defeat? Shall we admit that our struggle is all in vain? No! We will never yield, we will never surrender! Even if he is a merciful person, so what? The corpses of our fathers and elders are still drifting in the seawater! This is our greatest shame, our most painful ordeal!"

Astride a black sea beast, the young Sea Elf was shrouded in the radiance of the Aether Sea, charging like a meteor toward the Psychic Torch sun that was rising into the sky and illuminating the entire land.

Viewed from afar, it was like a moth flying into a fire, a bug burning itself.

Although they were naturally incomplete, this did not mean they should stop resisting when fate arrived.

On the contrary, their plundering, their killing, and everything they did were for the continuation of their species. And the ultimate goal of that continuation had perhaps reached this very moment.

"Born incomplete, all we possess is love; only our love for each other can make us whole! And now, this feeling of love has abandoned us; the person we respected most has died upon the ocean! Even if we plundered hundreds of thousands, millions of souls, it could not replace our kin! And that useless prince is still gloating over his own cleverness; we would rather choose a glorious death! All Sea Elves who still have guts, all Sea Elves who still have the ability, follow me!"

"Let the ocean obey us! Let the sky be obscured! Today, we shall let the sky be overturned by the ocean; let us shoot down the sun at this moment!"

Faced with that passionate speech, countless Sea Elves let out noisy and angry shouts, beginning to follow behind the charging Sea Elf, leaping up from the ocean and weaving together into black lines as they charged toward the sun of the Psychic Torch.

Perhaps they themselves knew it was entirely futile, but in a situation mixed with anger, hatred, and humiliation, people often abandon rational thought and choose to act on emotion.

These Sea Elves could not reflect on why this situation had come to pass.

"Spirited, just a bit senseless."

Watching those massive forces moving from the ocean to the sky, Li Ang commented casually.

Their perception of killing other strangers was just like eating a meal; they could not feel guilty about their way of survival, because they were born this way.

So Li Ang applauded these Sea Elves who were full of courage and noble conviction, as if they were the righteous ones, and then issued an order. "Elf Slayer, Ocean Boiling, Enemy Judgment, Huimie Muri Hao, you all take flight. Let those Sea Elves feel our fury, and our power."

"..."

Following Li Ang's order, some individuals who had just been assembly workers instantly understood how to operate the complex sky ships.

To Li Ang, all populations were building blocks; as long as they were dragged to a certain place, they would naturally exert the most powerful strength. They could be the most skilled masons one second, and the most elite trained soldiers the next.

Accompanied by the entry of two thousand former masons, now naval soldiers, the four ships in the dock soon erupted with a brilliant golden light. The flames of the Psychic Torch spread into the fleet's vessels in the blink of an eye, covered beneath the light of golden Runes. From the perspective of the ocean, it was as if four small suns had risen from the sky once again.

And the battle-hardened Sea Elves showed no cowardice; their Tidecallers stood upon the waves, looking at a purely vast ocean and once again issuing a call that transcended time and space.

Elements of the ocean spreading from the Subspace filled the sky and earth of this battlefield.

And without the thick fog to obscure them, people finally realized how the Sea Elves' behemoths existed in the sky.

"My god..."

On the edge of Albion Island, within the remaining outposts of the Chivalrous Expedition Knights, forgotten bards and serfs watched everything happening in the ocean with wonder through the remaining observation facilities.

Even the most astonishing dream could not depict the phenomena they saw before them. Countless marine behemoths soared into the air, letting out earth-shattering cries; these scarred behemoths floated in the sky, and together with their masters, launched a charge toward the four golden fireballs falling from the sky.

Those behemoths were each astonishing monsters; the smallest was likely over twenty meters long, and the largest approached sixty meters. The monsters born in the ocean twisted and circled in the sky, attempting to launch an attack against the golden fireballs.

However, facing the attacks of the countless incoming Sea Elves and behemoths, Li Ang merely raised his eyelids and snapped his fingers.

"Artillery, blast them down."

"Yes."

At the same time, the four warships extended hundreds of pitch-black openings.

And in an instant, four brilliant new stars rose in the sky once again.

Scarlet rain and debris drifted and fell from the sky, like a blood disaster that had appeared in the ocean and swept away everything.
