Chapter 1030: Divine Envoy of the Elves, Radiant Intervention
Outer Planes, inside the reception hall of the Nether Palace.
After Xia Duo entered, he was first surprised that Master Bailun, who had disappeared from the Main Plane for over half a month, was present, and then felt puzzled by the presence of the Divine Envoy Kafa and a mysterious Elf Mage.
He intended to ask a few questions, but noticed that the atmosphere in the reception hall seemed somewhat tense; this was mainly evident from the Elf Mage's occasionally furrowed brow and Master Bailun's slightly anxious expression.
As for the Divine Envoy Kafa, his appearance here was just as Xia Duo had seen him last time in the Kingdom of Radiance: clad in armor, holding a Scepter, standing tall and imposing, silent and profound.
Judging solely by his appearance, Xia Duo could not discern any emotional cracks.
In such a situation, the Princess was notably absent, and just as Xia Duo was feeling at a loss, Master Bailun, who occupied the main seat, took the initiative to ask:
"Lord Xia Duo, why are you here?"
Xia Duo did not quite understand Master Bailun's meaning; was he expected to speak of the succession turmoil within Giles Tower in front of other guests?
He knew that the Divine Envoy Kafa came from the Kingdom of Radiance and had close ties with Netheril, so speaking of it might be fine, but that Elf perhaps came from the Elven God Kingdom in the Outer Planes and might have connections to the Elven Nations of the Main Plane.
Discussing the discord within Netheril here, in front of the other party, was somewhat inappropriate.
In a flash, various thoughts raced through his mind, but on the surface, Xia Duo answered unhurriedly:
"Before the New Year Festival, I came to the Outer Planes due to an accident and visited the Kingdom of Radiance once, and after the festival, over these past half a month or so, I happened to find a way to reach the Outer Planes again, so I made this trip."
While answering, Xia Duo also observed Master Bailun's expression; sure enough, when he mentioned "half a month," the expression on the Master's face became even more anxious.
Xia Duo was thoughtful; before this time, he had taken one trip to the Outer Planes and had personally experienced the situation where time in the Outer Planes and the Main Plane did not align.
And just before he arrived at the Princess's Shenguo, in the Homeland area of the four wild brothers, he had encountered a situation suspected to be an anomaly in the flow of time.
Master Bailun had been missing for half a month, and now that he was found in the Outer Planes, perhaps it was because he had lost his Perception of time on the Main Plane that he could not return in time.
Now, his increasingly anxious expression seemed to be telling Xia Duo that he already understood what his delayed return implied.
Then, Master Bailun's expression shifted repeatedly, and finally, as if he had made some decision, his eyes suddenly became resolute, and he sternly addressed the mysterious Elf Mage in the reception hall:
"Divine Envoy Weilesi, my God has been invited to the Death Realm, and the return date is uncertain. If you have nothing else to say, you may leave now."
The Elf Mage—no, it should be Divine Envoy Weilesi—frowned even deeper upon hearing Bailun's dismissal; he first glanced at the newly arrived Xia Duo, a dangerous light flashing in his eyes.
Afterward, he carefully sized up the firm-looking Bailun, and finally fixed his gaze on the Divine Envoy Kafa.
But the Divine Envoy Kafa did not react in the slightest; even his eyes remained devoid of any emotional fluctuation as always, just standing there like a Statue.
"Since that is the case, I will take my leave, but I must remind you that my Lord's patience is limited; I hope this palace will not eventually become the target of my Lord's pouring wrath."
Having said this, the Divine Envoy Kafa stood up and left directly.
On the hall dome, the Holy Light Divine Envoys who were playing and frolicking saw this scene, and two of them immediately split off, about to descend, seemingly intending to see him off.
But they were stopped by Bailun halfway through their flight, so the two small light orbs flew back up to the dome to continue playing and frolicking with their companions.
……
From Bailun's reply to that Elf just now, Xia Duo finally understood the reason why the Princess was not here, but his doubts had not decreased in the slightest; instead, they had grown even more.
He glanced at the Divine Envoy Kafa, who was still motionless, and seeing that Bailun did not expel him like he had the Elf Divine Envoy, he couldn't help but ask: "Master Bailun, what is going on here?"
Hearing Xia Duo's inquiry, Bailun was silent for a moment before slowly explaining: "After Xiya's Ascension to Godhood, she received invitations from both the Lord of Death and the Elf Main God. After weighing the options, she chose to go to the Death Realm, and after that, she summoned me from the Main Plane to here to be responsible for receiving the Elf Divine Envoy."
"As for the Divine Envoy Kafa—"
At this point, Bailun paused, and at the same time, a metallic-sounding voice that had left a deep impression on Xia Duo rang out:
"My Lord is pleased to see the birth of a new god of order and will ensure that she is kept away from the Control of chaotic forces."
The Divine Envoy Kafa said only this and spoke no more, while Bailun explained: "The Divine Envoy Kafa was dispatched by the Lord of Radiance to come and protect Xiya from the interference of the Elf Main God."
"The interference of the Elf Main God?"
Xia Duo seemed to have thought of something, yet also seemed to have thought of nothing; for a moment, his head was buzzing, and various thoughts were flying everywhere.
Seeing this, Bailun said: "You are gifted, and your future achievements may not be below Xiya's. Since you were able to come here, telling you some things in advance is nothing. The information for Xiya's Ascension Ritual was sent by the Elves, and they paid a significant price for it."
Bailun did not say anything more specific, but Xia Duo could fully exercise his imagination; the Princess becoming a god should be a good thing for Netheril, and the Elves would not do something thankless.
Combining this with what Bailun said earlier, perhaps the Elves' various efforts on the Main Plane were for the Elf Main God's "harvest" in the Outer Planes.
As for what the real plan was, Xia Duo could only guess; besides the Elf Main God, how could anyone else know!
But no matter what plan the Elf Main God had, it was only a plan and had not yet been fully realized. Now that the Lord of Radiance had intervened halfway, the future would depend on the two sides playing the game again.
For a time, Xia Duo was full of curiosity about the world of gods, but without more information, he could only rely on his own imagination.
At this moment, he remembered his purpose for coming to the Outer Planes; although the Princess had now gone to the Death Realm and might be unable to exert influence on the Main Plane for the time being, Bailun was still here.
As long as he brought Master Bailun back, it could clear up the situation in Seventon; perhaps the effect would be even better than the Princess directly exerting influence!
Thinking of this, Xia Duo couldn't help but ask: "Master Bailun, is it convenient for you to return to the Main Plane now?"
When he came, the time on the Main Plane had already reached the end of January, and there were only ten days or so left until the one-month deadline set by the Seven Towers.
The time in the Outer Planes did not align with the Main Plane, and Xia Duo naturally hoped to return as soon as possible; if he returned too late, it would not have much significance.
