Chapter 105: Aidelian
After lunch, Xia Duo brought Sami and Dewan to the Library Layer. Perhaps because there were no courses in the Mage Tower recently, there were many more people on the Library Layer than usual. Xia Duo first rented a Spell Laboratory from the administrator, and once inside, he contacted his quasi-underling, Dien, in front of Sami and Dewan.
After the experience of a shared mission, the relationship between the four of them was closer than with others.
Moreover, Sami and Dewan were "academic underachievers" among the Official Apprentices, and Dien had only just advanced to Official Apprentice before the war, which almost defaulted to acknowledging Xia Duo's leadership position.
Once these three had achieved some results, Xia Duo would recruit more people. By then, most of the work for the Study Group would be handed over to the three of them, while Xia Duo would only be responsible for difficult problems.
It could be considered a small poaching of the Mage Tower's resources.
Seeing that Sami and the other were still hesitant about the work adjustment, Xia Duo immediately decided to go to Aideliqi first: "Sami, Dewan, I have something to take care of outside. When Dien arrives, open the door for him. You can use the Spell Laboratory for now and think carefully about the Study Group. If nothing goes wrong, the first batch of members will be the three of us plus Dien."
"Mm. We'll think about it."
Library Transcription Room, inside Aideriqi Shop.
When Xia Duo placed the Wolf Tooth Necklace and the Small Forest Wolf Statue on the table, Aideliqi still wore a puzzled expression, "This is—"
"Take a closer look, from the perspective of Magic."
*Cough—*
Aideliqi rubbed his eyes in embarrassment. The perspective of Magic—what a familiar yet strange name. Ever since he gave up the path of a Mage, he couldn't remember how long it had been since he had been in a state of focus.
Being asked to focus so suddenly, he couldn't concentrate for a moment, but even if it was only for an instant, the dazzling blue light made Aideliqi open his mouth in surprise.
"This—is a Magic Item. Do you really want to sell it?"
"Yes, sell them all."
Xia Duo's understated tone made Aideliqi almost go crazy. Since when could an Apprentice possess a Magic Item? Since when would an Apprentice sell a Magic Item? He paced back and forth in the Transcription Room, excited and nervous. The Merchant's instinct for profit made Aideliqi not want to miss this big deal, but the problem was that he himself did not have the ability to Identify these things.
Watching Aideliqi's constantly changing expression, Xia Duo reminded him, "Are you buying them or not?"
"Buying!"
Aideliqi hammered his palm heavily and immediately made a decision, "However, I cannot Identify them myself. I need to contact an Official Mage."
Upon hearing this, Xia Duo frowned. He had sought out Aideliqi precisely because he didn't want to deal with an Official Mage; if he had to have an Official Mage, why wouldn't he just find one himself? Seeming to see Xia Duo's hesitation, Aideliqi hurriedly explained, "Don't worry, the Mage I'm finding is absolutely trustworthy. He is my own older brother, and he is also a student of the Lord."
Another student of the Lord? Xia Duo still didn't know how many students the Lord had; the only one he knew was Leonard. It couldn't be that Aideliqi's brother was Leonard, could it? "I wonder which one your brother is?"
"My brother is named Aidelian. He is only one year older than me, but his Spellcasting Level reached level 3 last year."
This sounded like he was showing off his brother, but Xia Duo felt a sense of bitterness in it. Aideliqi looked to be only seventeen or eighteen, and his brother, only a year older, was already an Official Mage and a student of the Lord.
If it were Xia Duo himself, he would also feel psychologically unbalanced.
However, the problem now was whether to let Aidelian come over. Xia Duo was very conflicted.
"Xia Duo, please believe me. My father is the Lord's Commercial Director, managing two merchant guilds. My father taught us two brothers from a young age that reputation is life; this is the foundation of our family's existence."
"Your father is the Lord's Commercial Director?" Xia Duo asked in surprise. It was indeed the first time he had known this, but thinking about it, being able to "occupy" a Transcription Room in the Library was unusual in itself.
"Yes." Having brought out his family honor, Aideliqi finally calmed down, "If you are willing to continue the transaction, I will bring Aidelian here. If you are not willing, then let's end it here. You don't have to worry about me causing you trouble later."
This last sentence was indeed a bit redundant, Xia Duo complained inwardly, but by now he already trusted Aideliqi, both for his consistent reputation and the family honor he had brought up.
"Continue the transaction. I trust you. Please find Mage Aidelian."
Having received Xia Duo's affirmative answer, Aideliqi immediately took out a Magic Scroll, activated it cautiously, and then waited with a conflicted expression.
Xia Duo found it quite amusing to watch Aideliqi, who wanted to get a reply from his brother as quickly as possible but was also acting awkward.
Soon, Aideliqi appeared to be listening intently, but then his face fell. He threw away the discarded Scroll in his hand and looked at Xia Duo with some embarrassment:
"Aidelian is conducting an important Spell experiment and will finish soon. He wants us to go to his Reception Room and wait for a while."
"..."
Although dissatisfied, since he had already made contact, Xia Duo was not prepared to give up. And Aidelian's reaction just now made Xia Duo believe Aideliqi's words even more.
If Xia Duo himself were interrupted while busy with an important matter, even if it were his own younger brother, he wouldn't exactly be furious, but he certainly wouldn't give a good look.
It was evident that the relationship between the Aideliqi brothers was indeed good; perhaps it was just Aideliqi himself who was being difficult.
"Since that's the case, let's go and wait for a while."
Saying this, Xia Duo put away the Wolf Tooth Necklace and the Forest Wolf Statue, and Aideliqi quickly locked the door of the Transcription Room. The two of them took the Elevator together to the 6th Layer of the Mage Tower.
Xia Duo had previously taken an elective course on "Magic Net Stratification Theory," which was held in an Official Mage's Reception Room, so he was not unfamiliar with the 6th Layer.
He just didn't expect the Lord's student to be on this layer as well.
Inside Mage Aidelian's Reception Room.
Xia Duo and Aideliqi sat opposite each other. Xia Duo looked calm, while Aideliqi was a bit nervous, looking toward the direction of the Laboratory from time to time.
Before long, a young Mage who looked somewhat similar to Aideliqi walked out of the Laboratory. Xia Duo hurriedly stood up to greet him, "Lord Aidelian."
"No need for formalities. What do you want with me? Did Aideliqi cause trouble again?"
Only then did Xia Duo realize that the Magic Scroll Aideliqi had activated earlier could not convey specific information. He immediately looked at Aideliqi, signaling him to speak quickly.
And Mage Aidelian also looked at his younger brother, "Did you cause trouble again? I told you long ago to put your mind on Magic. Look at what you look like now. Father sent you to the Mage Tower to let you learn Magic, not to let you do business, you know!"
