Chapter 1073: Changing the Approach, Stabilizing the Amulet
After some thought, Xia Duo suddenly felt that he had complicated things; the reason he came to the Laboratory was not, in essence, to research some cross-plane communication.
It was to increase the chances of survival for Luodite and the others, so as to avoid being sought out by their backers should any accidents occur.
To ensure their survival, cross-plane communication alone was not enough; they also needed to be able to return from the Other Plane, in the unfortunate event that they were not repelled by the Ether Plane, or were repelled to other Material Planes.
This was too difficult, practically akin to being a nanny; he had no need to do so much at all.
Moreover, such preparations were truly a bit foolish; he only needed to ensure that Luodite and the others remained in the Main Plane when the ruins area's plane overlap state separated, and were not split off to the Ether Plane side.
Since the problem was too complex, then solve the source of the problem directly!
Of course, cross-plane communication was also very meaningful, but that was a matter for later. For now, all Xia Duo needed to do was prepare for the ruins exploration in a day or two.
……
Once his train of thought shifted, Xia Duo immediately became full of confidence; this was actually a problem similar to accessing items in a Dimensional Bag, very easy to solve.
It was only necessary to enhance the materiality of Luodite and the others; in layman's terms, this meant strengthening their connection to the Main Plane.
After a few simple attempts, Xia Duo left the Spell Laboratory and arrived at the Alchemy Laboratory; he activated the Alchemy Array, and a moment later, five unremarkable silver Amulets were freshly "out of the oven."
Xia Duo called this type of Amulet a "Stabilization Amulet," and its sole function was to stabilize the user's extended open Magic Net String nodes toward the normal state of the Main Plane.
This prevented those nodes from becoming unstable when the plane overlap state separated, which would lead to the user being split off to the Ether Plane.
Aside from this function, there was nothing else.
The cost of these five Amulets alone was nearly 3,000 Gold Coins, not counting the labor cost of him, a Senior Arcanist; the reason it was so high was mainly because Xia Duo wanted to earn an extra profit from Luodite and the others.
Otherwise, he could have completely used lower-purity Mithril to make the energy circuit components and then encased them in Iron; in that case, although the volume would be a bit larger, the cost could have been cut by more than half.
But how could ordinary Magic Items be worthy of the status of Luodite and the others!
Xia Duo naturally had to use the Amulet form with a higher premium!
Although these little trinkets were prepared specifically for Luodite and the others, they were of no use to anyone else, and even for Luodite and the others, they would only be useful for this ruins exploration.
But even so, it was impossible to give them away for free.
Previously, Xia Duo and Luodite had agreed that for this exploration, he would provide Mind Link and on-site command, while the gains from the exploration would be shared by everyone for knowledge-based items, and for physical items, he could take half.
But the matter of ruins exploration always had a bit of a lottery feel to it; if there was nothing inside, wouldn't that be a waste of time?
One must know that the ruins had been discovered by Luodite's subordinates since the Midsummer Festival last year, and in the more than half a year since, who knew how many times they had been scavenged.
If it weren't for the ruins themselves, which were suspected to be a failed product of a Semi-plane experiment, Xia Duo would never have agreed to explore such ruins.
However, he suddenly realized that the gains from ruins exploration did not necessarily have to be obtained from the ruins; this was just like the gold rush that once occurred in a certain country on Earth, where some people went but did not pan for gold, instead starting businesses for the gold miners, and thus made a fortune.
Xia Duo now had this feeling.
According to the price of at least 2,000 for Amulet-type Magic Items, these five Amulets of his could earn at least nearly ten thousand.
This was no small sum; it was hard to say if an average High Mage could earn ten thousand in a year. (Except for High Mage Slaves, they earn more~~)
And he had just tinkered with it a bit, and could immediately sit back and collect the money.
This really was—Magic technology is the primary productive force!
Having prepared five 【Stabilization Amulet】s, Xia Duo felt it was enough; with his real-time command, and the ability to use "Joint Casting" at critical moments, this was sufficient to handle most situations.
These were just ruins from the Age of Discovery of Netheril; although they looked somewhat exaggerated, in essence, they did not exceed the scope of the current Netheril Magic System.
The era was constantly progressing; there might be much profound Knowledge on the Nether Scroll, but Xia Duo did not believe that the Netherese Mages of that time could delve very deep.
In fact, if it weren't for the special state of these ruins, any High Mage of the Seven Towers would have the ability to explore them independently.
With Xia Duo's current understanding of Magic, situations that could exceed his cognition and leave him completely unable to cope could be said to be very few.
Just like these ruins this time, they looked flashy, with both the Mist Region that was nearly an independent space and the strange disappearance of the advance personnel, but once one looked past the phenomena to the essence, this was nothing more than a plane overlap area.
Even if necessary, Xia Duo was fully capable of reproducing it.
Perhaps this was also the reason why Luodite's father was not interested in these ruins!
If his research direction was not the Plane Domain, there was indeed no need to come and explore these relatively known ruins left behind by ancient Netherese Mages. (The Jilan Tower lineage, in all likelihood, is the Bloodline Domain)
……
After putting the five Amulets into his Personal Space, Xia Duo left the Alchemy Laboratory; there were basically no major problems with the ruins exploration, just waiting for Luodite and the others to bring the money to pick up the goods in two days.
Returning to the Xiu Xi Shi, Xia Duo continued to analyze the Four Elements Pool, the Positive and Negative Energy Pool Magic Array of the Watchtower, and the Blazing Sun Array that maintained the "light bulb" at the top of the tower in his consciousness.
In the void of his conscious imagination, countless dense Mithril threads almost completely covered the space; whenever Xia Duo focused his attention on a certain area, the area outside this region would become a blur.
And when Xia Duo's attention shifted, the clear area would shift along with it.
Consciousness relative to memory could perhaps be compared to "cache relative to hard drive"; the details of the Watchtower array were unimaginably vast, and Xia Duo could indeed trace back to all the memory details of every moment in the past, but he could not keep these details present simultaneously.
There was no other reason; it was just that his consciousness was not yet powerful enough to manifest so much information at the same time.
Of course, if he only remembered it with his own memory, rather than tracing it through the Memory Retrospection ability, then he could reproduce as much as he could remember.
This array information was just "recorded" by Xia Duo from the Watchtower; it was merely a record and had not yet reached the level of memory.
If the time were stretched out longer, and Xia Duo constantly reviewed and strengthened his memory, then one day in the future, he might be able to manifest all these details in his consciousness.
Additionally, if he could completely integrate his subconscious and Conscious Mind, he would also be able to achieve this.
