Chapter 1090: Half-Elf Yinuosen, Material Harvest

~7 min read 1,234 words

Like many Mage Towers, this one has no very clear formal name. Among the many surviving books in the Library, it is generally referred to by the name of its owner, Yinuosen, and is called the "Innocent Tower."

Yet these books do not exist to record names or biographical introductions; in reality, Xia Duo can only piece together a rough background from the fragments of information within them.

Yinuosen was a Netherese Mage, but he was not a pure human; he was the offspring of a human and an Elf.

Xia Duo did not find any information about Yinuosen's father in these books, and at the same time, there was almost no mention of his mother.

However, one person was mentioned many times: Yinuosen's aunt, the Mage Xierdalanna from the Moonhorn Family of Yierlan.

This Mage Xierdalanna is no simple figure; of all the surviving books in this Library that involve any research project, every single one has Xierdalanna's participation.

This includes the "42nd Plane Creation Experiment" recorded in a stack of manuscripts titled "July Project Schedule"!

Although Xia Duo did not find detailed records regarding the Semi-plane experiment, and did not even find much content related to the Plane Domain in these surviving books.

Yet, based solely on the last surviving fire-being's hatred for Xierdalanna—a hatred that transcended time and reason—as well as the evidence in these surviving books of Xierdalanna's deep involvement in the research related to this Mage Tower.

Especially that "42nd Plane Creation Experiment"—

Xia Duo can also judge that this Mage Tower ruin is indeed very likely due to an accident during a so-called "Plane Creation" experiment, and that accident is very likely inseparable from Xierdalanna.

A noble Elf Mage, traveling thousands of miles from the magically advanced Yierlan to the magically backward Netheril, sparing no effort to assist a mixed-blood nephew who was seemingly abandoned by both parents—what kind of spirit is this?

Could it really be some sort of selfless internationalist spirit?

Xia Duo does not believe it, or perhaps he is habitually viewing Elves through colored glasses; he instinctively feels there is a problem here.

However, one cannot find any evidence in these surviving books to support this speculation of his, which makes him feel as if he is being scratched by a naughty kitten—it is just itching!

Luodite and Aibuna still have some books left to inventory; Xia Duo very much hopes to find a few words in those books, but he himself knows that the probability is likely not high.

To be called "Xierdalanna of Wisdom" in this "Innocent Tower," it is clear that everyone in the Mage Tower must have respected this Elf quite a bit.

But the soul-roar that the surviving fire-being was able to transmit into the Mind Link is constantly reminding Xia Duo that there must be a problem here.

Additionally, Xia Duo discovered another issue: the name "Yinuosen." He had not heard of it before, but several hundred years should not be enough to completely bury a Mage who owned a Mage Tower in history.

He guesses that perhaps it is because Yinuosen was half-Elf and half-human and thus sensitive, so no records were left; but it is also possible that it was precisely because of the mixed blood that records were left, only he does not know who hid them.

Xia Duo decides to find an opportunity to visit Master Kangjienio after returning. According to his deduction, "Yinuosen" was roughly from the same era as the Master; perhaps Master Kangjienio might know something.

Of course, if he could swindle two more Ioun Stones, that would be even better!

Just as Xia Duo was pondering what gift to bring to visit the Master, Luodite and Aibuna finished their inventory. Luodite was gripping the record paper in his hand tightly, the veins on his knuckles clearly visible.

He took a deep breath, yet could not hide the excitement in his eyes. He knew that this exploration had been a huge gain; many of the research contents in this Mage Tower were things he had never even heard of. If they were to be made public, it would surely cause a sensation in Seventon, or even set off another wave of exploration in Zhenisi.

But unfortunately—

He and Lord Xia Duo had already made an agreement: without the other party's permission, information related to the ruins cannot be published.

Sigh!

"Lord Xia Duo, we have finished the inventory. There are 26 original Elven books, 45 works by the Mages of the Mage Tower, 22 research notebooks, 7 experimental records, 3 manuscripts, and in addition, there are some duplicate Mage works, totaling 16."

"Mm."

Xia Duo nodded with satisfaction. Luodite and Aibuna had not only inventoried them but also sorted these books and manuscripts by category. He took a rough look, and there were no errors.

So, he pointed to the duplicate portion and said to Luodite: "You can take the duplicate portion away now; for the other parts, go to the Watchtower to transcribe them!"

As he spoke, Xia Duo put away all the rest.

Next, both parties went to the side where Weiji and the others were inventorying the supplies. Although Weiji's inventory was simple, because there were so many supplies, the time taken was even longer than that of Luodite and Aibuna.

When Xia Duo arrived at Weiji's side, Weiji had not yet finished the final inventory, but seeing that Xia Duo and Luodite had both come over, he still had to put down his work and began to introduce it to the two:

"Lord Xia Duo, these supplies include 100 pounds of gold, 85 pounds of silver, 25 pounds of Mithril, 10 pounds of Adamantine, 45 pounds of Five-Colored Gems, plus 2,000 sheets of ordinary Parchment and Elven Paper, 150 pounds of dried ink and some ingredient mineral powders, and finally the most numerous item, Miscellaneous Crystal, over 5,000 pounds."

Xia Duo took a rough glance; it was not much different from his estimate. In Netherese Magic, there are specialized measurement spells. Although the standards used by individual Mages are not uniform, when dealing with the outside world, they usually still use the measurement standards published by the Sewendun Dashendian.

The reason why the inventory took so long, besides the large quantity of supplies itself, is likely that the biggest reason was getting stuck on the valuation.

The prices of precious metals like gold and silver are always relatively stable; even for Mithril, as a processed semi-finished material, its price is also relatively stable.

What is truly difficult to estimate should be the Five-Colored Gems.

One must consider their practical value in the field of Magic, and also consider the export price for Elves; only by comparing the two can a relatively accurate valuation be obtained.

As for things like paper, it seems like a lot, but as long as the Wood Pulp Paper workshop of the Tower of Time expands its production scale, one hour's output would be enough to crush these.

Even now, it is only a few days' worth of output.

Of course, although Wood Pulp Paper is easy to produce and also easy to popularize, because of the long shelf life of Parchment, it may not completely lose its application value, and there might still be significant room for appreciation in the future.

It is just that Xia Duo does not care about these.
