Chapter 1201: Prophecy, the Domain of Death

"Yes."

Kelifu nodded, which counted as answering Xia Duo's doubts, but his next words left Xia Duo inexplicably astonished—

"I did indeed learn of this matter because Stern asked if I could tell you the details of that experiment, but in fact, I have been looking for you all along; it was only because of this matter that I truly found you!"

"Looking for me?"

Xia Duo did not believe he had anything worth Kelifu specifically searching for. If he wanted to see the Daxia Code, he could just come to Daxia Territory directly, or have Iolum contact him; how could he possibly not be found!

Regarding Xia Duo's surprise, Kelifu did not explain directly, but instead held the golden Scepter, which had been resting horizontally across his knees with the Rising Sun Staff head, vertically to the height of his eyes, and chanted in a very ethereal tone:

"When the flowers are in full bloom, deep within the Dream Ruins, the deep-red hero, he takes away the Scepter of Death!"

Listening to such an ethereal voice, Xia Duo could not help but associate himself with the equally ethereal content. In a trance, he seemed to see a deep-red back, holding something in its hand, walking toward the distance.

"Prophecy?" Xia Duo exclaimed.

This type of Spell is not something just anyone can master. It is said that in all of Netheril, only a handful of people have mastered this Spell, and they all share a common trait—they are all Priests of the Gods!

Among them, the only ones who are relatively famous and have confirmed records of prophetic deeds are the Archbishop of the Sewendun Dashendian, and the one before him—the Great Arcanist Kelifu!

Xia Duo was extremely curious about Prophecy, a Spell that seemed more like a legend, but he had never had the chance to see it until now—

"Could this be Prophecy? And a prophecy pointing at me?"

Xia Duo stared straight into Kelifu's eyes, which were still flickering with Divine Nature, expecting to get an accurate answer from the other party.

After a long while, Kelifu's eyes returned to their previous calm and depth. He placed the Scepter he was holding in his right hand back horizontally across his knees, and then answered Xia Duo's question:

"Yes, this is Prophecy! And I also believe that the target I prophesied is you! Of course, I just repeated the previous prophecy; the actual process of Prophecy is very complex and very long."

Having received a definitive answer from Kelifu, Xia Duo felt a mix of emotions. He had imagined countless scenarios where Prophecy might come into play, but he had never thought that one day Prophecy would be used on him.

He really did not want to encounter this kind of bizarre, eerie, and unreasonable Spell.

If ordinary Magic is a standard electronic computer, then Prophecy is a quantum computer.

The former is based on deterministic calculations to reach a deterministic result; even if it appears mysterious, it has traces to follow, similar to pseudo-random numbers in electronic computers.

As for the latter, even when calculating "1+1", it only concludes that there is a high probability it is "2", and there is a possibility of other results, though the probability is low. It is almost like creating something from nothing, capable of generating True Randomness.

Prophecy can derive multiple probabilistic results given all antecedent information, and choosing the one with the higher probability is the most likely future trend.

And the Scrying Spells in general Magic cannot derive any results without antecedent information; even the vague Scrying that is closest to Prophecy is actually achieved by searching through a large number of existing events.

If a Spellcaster were locked in a dark room, making it absolutely impossible for them to contact the outside world, then Scrying Spells would not work, but Prophecy could!

Xia Duo did not want others to use Prophecy on him, or to be prophesied by Prophecy, but he very much hoped that he could master true Prophecy.

Not to mention gaining a certain degree of strategic initiative through Prophecy, at the very least, he wanted to learn the possibility of avoiding prophecy from it.

It is a pity that everyone who masters Prophecy is a Priest of the Gods. Xia Duo suspected that Prophecy likely requires Holy Power to cast, or perhaps it is simply consulting the gods, and the so-called Spellcasting is merely contacting their gods!

But regardless, he had indeed encountered Prophecy now, so how should this matter be handled?

Time cannot flow backward, and encountering Prophecy has already become an established reality, so Xia Duo did not think about anything else, but instead focused his mind on the content of the prophecy.

It seems that Kelifu wants him to go to a place called the "Dream Ruins" to take away some Scepter of Death!

But is it really him in this prophecy?

Out of resentment for this inexplicable task that had suddenly descended upon him, Xia Duo once again doubted the authenticity and accuracy of the prophecy:

"Lord Kelifu, can you explain the content of the prophecy? 'When the flowers are in full bloom', I know that should be in a few days, but the 'deep-red hero' may not necessarily refer to me, right? And what is the 'Scepter of Death'? Does it have anything to do with me?"

"Of course I can, but this matter is more troublesome to explain; I need to start from the beginning."

In Kelifu's view, the prophecy was already very clear; it could even be said that this was the most accurate prophecy he had ever made, and it was precisely because of its accuracy that he was full of anticipation for the realization of the subsequent prophecy.

Therefore, he explained every one of Xia Duo's questions as much as possible:

"First, let's talk about the Scepter of Death; it is actually the Domain of Death. Stern contacted me saying you wanted to know the details of the Telemen Experimental Accident; that experiment was related to the Domain of Death!"

Xia Duo was silent, but his doubts grew even more. However, he did not immediately ask, but listened to Kelifu continue to explain.

"Before that experiment, Telemen was actually following me to do related research, but he overestimated his own abilities too much and forgot my rules, actually conducting such an experiment in private. That such a result occurred was entirely his own doing."

Speaking of this, Kelifu glanced at Telemen expressionlessly, and then continued:

"As for the content of the research and the purpose of the experiment, there was only one, and that is—to bring the dead back to life!"

"Resurrection?"

Xia Duo could not help but let out an exclamation. A priest of the Lord of Radiance actually wanted to dabble in the Domain of Death; this truly exceeded his expectations.

If a Radiant Priest liked to study Negative Energy, that would be nothing; one could only say the other party had special hobbies. But if it were studying Resurrection, this would absolutely infringe upon the Domain of the Lord of Death.

Not to mention what would happen if the Lord of Death found out, just being known by a Death Priest would very likely trigger a fierce conflict.

He really didn't know what the Great Arcanist Kelifu was thinking!

Currently in Netheril, all Resurrection Spells are in the hands of Death Priests. The High Priestess Morton who solved the Murloc Tide in the Nan Jing previously was a Death Priest who had mastered Resurrection.
