Chapter 1287: Resurrection Sequelae and Outsourcing Preparations
Common resurrection sequelae include, but are not limited to, physical decline, lack of limb coordination, sensory impairment, and so on.
As for a decline in Spellcasting Level, or even it dropping to zero, that is almost an inevitable result, though Mages do not care much about such things.
The most terrifying sequelae are those involving sensory problems, as this means the root of the symptoms likely lies in the Soul rather than the physical body.
Such sequelae can even affect subsequent spellcasting ability, which can be considered the most serious consequence for a Mage.
"Sigh! I didn't expect resurrection to be full of pitfalls everywhere!"
After understanding the secrets behind the Resurrection spell, Xia Duo realized that this Resurrection spell was not as perfect as he had imagined, but regardless, being able to be resurrected at all was already very difficult.
If this were on Earth, who knows how many people would be willing to purchase a resurrection insurance policy!
No matter how great its sequelae might be, there would always be countless people flocking to it; of this, Xia Duo had no doubt.
……
After finishing the materials related to the Resurrection spell, Xia Duo did not leave the Library immediately, but continued to look for books related to Elven Magic.
This was not because he truly needed these materials, but because he wanted to pave the way for his upcoming project application.
By the time he returned to the Laboratory, it was already evening; consulting the materials on resurrection spells had taken up most of his afternoon.
Now located in the underground base, Xia Duo's perception of Reality time had become very blurred, and he only used the time provided by the base as the standard.
It was currently dinner time, and the logistics personnel had already delivered the dinner he had ordered to the Laboratory: a piece of refined bread, a segment of charcoal-grilled lizard tail, and a small bottle of sour wine.
Of course, this was Xia Duo's; Luo Zi also had a portion, but he had already finished eating and ducked into the Laboratory before Xia Duo returned.
Now that two Level 1 Projects were weighing on him, and also for the sake of his grand plan for promotion, Luo Zi had been working from dawn till dusk these days, often not even finding time to eat, just busy with those two projects.
When Xia Duo called him out of the Laboratory, there was a clear trace of impatience in Luo Zi's eyes, but with his own path to promotion held in someone else's hands, he still had to suppress the negative emotions in his heart and asked in a calm tone:
"My Lord, what are your orders?"
"Luo Zi, how much do you know about Elven Magic?"
"Elven Magic?"
Upon hearing this term, Luo Zi initially shook his head with a blank look in his eyes, but he quickly reacted, realizing this referred to the spells of the Cormanthor Demon, so he hurriedly explained:
"My Lord, I don't know much about Elven Magic. Generally, only those who go on field missions will specifically learn about it. Within the Research Institute, unless one is specifically researching this, usually not many people know much about it."
Is that so!
Xia Duo had originally wanted to outsource the work of converting the Demon-Slaying Amulet's magic system and its mass-production design to Luo Zi, and if declared, this would certainly be another Level 1 Project.
It was just unexpected that Luo Zi did not know much about Elven Magic, which made things a bit difficult.
"Then do you know anyone in the Branch who is quite proficient in Elven Magic?"
"I do. Researcher Dai Er has deep research into Elven Magic; the Judgment Division often entrusts him with creating some Elven Magic Artifacts used for disguise. There is also Researcher Li Si, who also has a lot of research into Elven Magic, especially in cracking Elven Magic Artifacts."
Luo Zi provided two names at once, especially Dai Er, whose research materials Xia Duo had seen recorded in the Library not long ago.
It was just that both of these people were Level 1 Researchers, and if Xia Duo wanted to maintain the "Maikade" persona, it would be very difficult to gain their attention.
Let alone engaging in project cooperation.
"Do you know any of the Assistant Researchers under Dai Er and Li Si?" Xia Duo asked again.
Since it was inconvenient to cooperate with Official Researchers, finding a few Assistant Researchers who were familiar with and skilled in Elven Magic would also be good.
At least the foundation of the High Mages among the Empire Remnants was still quite good, as they had received a relatively complete academy education.
Even if the Demon-Slaying Amulet project were completely handed over to them, they should be able to complete it, not to mention that Xia Duo would be watching from the sidelines!
Now Xia Duo's mind was full of resurrection spells; even after leaving this Projection Plane and returning to the Main Plane, he still couldn't help but think about it, and even wanted to practice it!
But the Demon-Slaying Amulet needed to be delivered within one month in the Main Plane, and now even the magic system conversion hadn't been completed, so mass production was even further out of reach.
Besides wanting to continue searching for techniques related to soul summoning and soul traction, the main reason Xia Duo was still staying here was to fully utilize the time in the Projection Plane.
If nothing else, at the very least, when he left, he wanted to take the mass-production plan for the Netheril Magic version of the Demon-Slaying Amulet with him!
……
Facing Xia Duo's repeated questioning, this time Luo Zi finally gave a positive answer, "My Lord, I know an Assistant Researcher under Researcher Li Si."
"Can you pull a few people to our Laboratory?" Xia Duo no longer hid his thoughts; he hoped to hear a positive answer from Luo Zi again.
This time Luo Zi still did not let Xia Duo down; after hesitating slightly, he nodded, "There are relatively few people researching Elven Magic here at the Judgment Division's base branch, and not many Assistant Researchers choose this field.
"Therefore, neither Dai Er nor Li Si wants their subordinates to be promoted too quickly, which would leave them with no one to use, so they are both suppressing their subordinates' promotions!
"As long as you, My Lord, can promise not to deliberately lower project evaluations, I believe those Assistant Researchers would be very willing to come to us."
With Luo Zi's explanation, Xia Duo suddenly discovered that he seemed to have become a bug in the Research Institute; as a visitor from the Main Plane, he certainly would not suppress the promotions of these virtual people in the Projection Plane.
As long as he was willing to give a most basic promise that everyone should agree with, he could gain the allegiance of many people, or even, like Luo Zi, have them bring their own projects.
The Judgment Division's base branch was not small, and there must be quite a few Assistant Researchers whose promotions were being suppressed; if he could win them all over, then that would be—
Too offensive to others!
Of course, poaching a few was still no problem.
This might even improve the atmosphere of the Research Institute, which should be something the higher-ups would be happy to see.
Of course, the most important thing was that Xia Duo could outsource many of his own research projects to these people; after all, it was in the Projection Plane.
In fact, even in the Main Plane, Xia Duo wouldn't mind doing this, but the Tower of Time didn't have that many High Mages who had received a complete academy education, so even if he wanted to outsource, he couldn't find anyone.
As for outsourcing to the Seven Towers, that would be too easy to provide resources to the enemy.
Furthermore, the research literacy of the Seven Towers' High Mages might not necessarily be as stable as these High Mages among the Empire Remnants who had received an academy education.
The Seven Towers currently generally could not escape the 【Self-study + Master-Apprentice】 model, lacking a universal systematic atmosphere.
The upper limit of academy-style mass education might not be as high as the geniuses under the individual Seven Towers model, but comparing the development lower limit of the majority, it would definitely be higher than the Seven Towers model.
And most importantly, under the same systematic atmosphere, people from the academy would find it more convenient and easier to communicate and cooperate.
This would not only be reflected in ideas and psychology, but even more so in specific cooperative projects.
