Chapter 1311: New Clues, Fate Connections
"Mage Aomosi, do you have any new discoveries on your end?"
Faluo turned his gaze toward the other new participant of the ritual—Aomosi, who came from the same kingdom as him—his words filled with anticipation.
Although Xierdalanna had failed to provide any critical information, she had offered new clues related to the Oracle's revelation; what kind of information could Aomosi provide?
The other high mages also cast their attentive gazes toward Aomosi. Aomosi seemed to enjoy being the center of attention at this moment; the arm that had been supporting his seated posture relaxed, and he lazily lay back down on the soft grass once more.
"I saw this—"
As he spoke, Aomosi, lying on his back, reached one hand toward the sky, shaping above his body a square, sharp-angled, yet strangely magnificent and imposing grey-white stone structure.
Seeing architecture so different from that of the Elves, Faluo and several other Elf high mages who had also been to Seventon exclaimed in surprise:
"The Arcane Union of Netheril?!"
The change revealed by the Oracle that could affect the fate of the Elf race had appeared in the former site of the Alabaster Tower, which was now Netheril.
But Netheril was not small, and Faluo had organized many Omniscience Rituals before without being able to determine the specific location. Most crucially, fate was always intimately connected to people.
Even if the location were determined, one must find the specific and key person—the so-called "Fate Messenger"!
"Is there more?" Faluo asked hurriedly.
"No more, that is all."
"Sigh—"
Faluo let out another long sigh.
But fortunately, this ritual had yielded two new clues—the Arcane Union and the Netheril Southern Border.
……
And next, they would continue their search along these two new clues. The group of high mages soon returned from the grass where the ritual took place to the nearby village.
These dozen or so Elves did not bother with any concealment, and began to deliberate right in front of several Elf Elders who were sunning themselves.
"Lady Xierdalanna, I hope you can head to the Netheril Southern Border to investigate the tracks of the Fate Messenger."
"Me? That wouldn't be appropriate!"
Xierdalanna hesitated for a moment, but still shook her head firmly, "The relationship between Eaerlann and Netheril is long past what it used to be. If I go over there now, it would be far too conspicuous."
"Please, you must make the trip! If you are worried about the trade between the Moonhorn Family and Netheril, then I can request a letter of appointment from Yilisier Mianwang so you can go in the name of Cormanthor."
Faluo gave his solution just as firmly, but this handling made Xierdalanna frown deeply, "Don't try to pressure me with Cormanthor. I am an Eaerlann Elf; Yilisier Mianwang has no authority over me."
"Besides, I only joined the organization because I heard you had some lost Ancient Spell Secret Scrolls here. If you want me to do things, you had better bring out some actual benefits."
Once Xierdalanna said this, Faluo immediately felt a bit of regret—not that he regretted bringing the other party into the organization, but that he regretted not persuading Aomosi first to use him to suppress and coerce Xierdalanna.
Aomosi was a Cormanthor Elf, and Faluo had full confidence in persuading him, whether by borrowing the Mianwang's name or through an exchange of interests between families.
Even the Ancient Spell Secret Scrolls provided by the Main God could be given; in any case, that could be considered strengthening the power of Cormanthor.
But for Xierdalanna, Faluo was internally unwilling to let her obtain more powerful strength, even if they currently belonged to the same organization and were working for the Main God together.
After all, the Main God was too high and distant; when it came down to reality, every high mage had a circle of interests most deeply connected to themselves, and Faluo's circle was Cormanthor.
But likewise, he did not wish to abandon the maintenance of the organization's internal system. It was precisely because of this high mage society that spanned multiple countries that he was able to stand on equal footing with Yilisier Mianwang.
Without the organization, he would immediately revert to his original form. Having already enjoyed power, how could he be willing to give it up?
Thus, Faluo quickly made his choice, "Xierdalanna, what Spell Secret Scroll do you want?"
"I want the 【Betis Secret Scroll】!"
"That is impossible!" Faluo refused immediately, his reaction very intense.
He glared at Xierdalanna. He truly did not know where she found the courage to ask him for the 【Betis Secret Scroll】. Did she really think the organization couldn't function without her?
"Xierdalanna, I will remind you one last time: the 【Betis Secret Scroll】 can only be borrowed, and it must be read at the Tower of Governance. If you make such unrealistic demands again, I will consider it your voluntary withdrawal from the organization!"
Seeing this, Xierdalanna realized her request could not be satisfied, so she took the opportunity to propose: "Then I need the Spell Secret Scrolls from the Fourth Lisar Period of Ancient Maelita! How many can you produce?"
"How many can I produce? Do you want as many as I have?" Faluo retorted.
Xierdalanna did not answer, but silence was the best answer. Faluo realized this as well, and could not help but feel even more stifled.
Looking at the others, not one of them spoke up for him; it seemed they were just waiting for Xierdalanna to test his bottom line so they could follow suit later.
"Why can't you all just listen and obey orders!" Faluo was extremely annoyed inside.
At this moment, he suddenly understood Yilisier Mianwang. In the past, he had always thought the Mianwang was an idealist who considered himself the successor of Aryvandaar and harbored delusions of building a Great Elf Empire.
But now, he suddenly understood that the Mianwang was actually as realistic as could be. The purpose of rule was to deepen rule; what Great Elf Empire—wasn't it all for his own rule!
As long as there was a group of high mages like them in the country, the Mianwang's authority could never reach its peak.
Think about what Aryvandaar did after unifying the Elf World; if Yilisier Mianwang succeeded, would he not do the same?
How much of the current promises would remain valid after countless years?
For a moment, Faluo even had a thought that terrified even himself—the Mianwang had been on the throne for too long; perhaps he should—
"No, no, I cannot think this way!"
Faluo hurriedly pulled his thoughts back to a safe direction. Glancing at the still-silent Xierdalanna, he finally relented:
"Ancient Maelita scrolls, it is uncertain if they belong to the Fourth Lisar Period, ten scrolls in total, I can give them all to you, but I have requirements too!"
Xierdalanna knew that the Ancient Maelita scrolls Faluo held must be more than ten, but being able to obtain ten so easily, she was barely satisfied, so she asked:
"What are your requirements?"
"My requirement is that you must make close contact with the key figures of the Netheril Southern Border and establish a fate connection so that we can obtain more information in the next Omniscience Ritual."
This actually included the condition that Xierdalanna participate in the next Omniscience Ritual, but Xierdalanna did not care, nor did she refuse.
It was just making more contact with humans; it wasn't as if she hadn't done it before, and she had even had deeper contact than that.
As for the Omniscience Ritual, while she certainly had to pay a price, the gains outweighed the costs. Even without Faluo's requirement, she would have been willing to participate voluntarily.
