Chapter 1363: Southern Four Kingdoms Envoys, Shift in Attitude
As for the Envoys of the Southern Four Kingdoms, they were arranged on the other side of Illefarn and were not specifically partitioned; it was there that Xia Duo saw humans from outside the Northland for the first time.
Among the four Envoys, that middle-aged man with a resolute expression and a stern face, wearing armor and carrying a translucent, sheathless longsword at his waist, was, if nothing unexpected happened, likely the Psionic Master from Zhamu Danzo.
The moment Xia Duo's gaze fell upon him, the man actually turned his head to look at him immediately; with just that one look, Xia Duo felt an indescribable sense of oppression.
It was similar to the Stun aura of dragons and demons, yet it was also somewhat different; as for where it differed, Xia Duo could not think of it for a moment, so he just nodded slightly in greeting and then shifted his gaze away.
The other human Envoy made a much better impression on Xia Duo.
A head of messy hair moved without wind, possessing a rather elegant temperament, and several blue markings on his face—whether intentionally tattooed or naturally existing—added a great deal of mystery to him.
Like that Psionic Master from Zhamu Danzo, the man also noticed Xia Duo's gaze almost instantly, but the difference was—
This Bloodline Sorcerer from Calimshan seemed to sense Xia Duo's bloodline traits related to wind; while revealing a friendly expression, he also stirred up a slender air wave that shot toward Xia Duo.
The moment it collided with the breeze barrier on Xia Duo's body, it automatically parsed into a gentle and friendly voice, greeting:
"Arcanist friend from Netheril, if you have the chance, you must come to Calimshan to visit; the Mairide Family will certainly not let you down."
That maneuver by the Calimshan Envoy surprised Xia Duo greatly; that type of Sending sound wave was quite standardized in style, yet it was indeed triggered by a bloodline ability.
It seemed that the Calimshan people's development of bloodlines had long since broken free from the shackles of bloodline instinct and had become a special Bloodline Magic system.
For a time, Xia Duo developed a very strong interest in the country of Calimshan, and he indeed took the invitation from that Calimshan Envoy to heart.
Once the Floating City was built, perhaps the first stop could be to visit Calimshan.
……
Of the other two among the Envoys of the Southern Four Kingdoms, one was an Elf and one was a Dwarf; their identities were likely not simple either, but Xia Duo's identity as a human was perhaps destined to make it impossible for them to see eye to eye.
It is said that the Dwarf nations of the North, such as Danzo and Amalinda, had their initial origins in Sannata in the South, and only fled to the North to escape the continuous wars in the South.
To a certain extent, the current Sannata might still possess considerable influence over the current Dwarf nations of the North.
As for Kaitemier, its influence on the Elven Nations of the North might be negligible.
Not to mention the small countries, large countries like Cormanthor claimed to inherit the unfinished great cause of Aryvandaar to unify the Elf World, while Eaerlann was built on the very homeland of Aryvandaar.
Illefarn, like Kaitemier, both survived the Crown War; although there were differences in the strength of their survival, their ambitions were not necessarily different.
Illefarn did not like Aryvandaar itself, but it would not necessarily reject Aryvandaar's concept of unification; Xia Duo could deduce this from the phenomenon of power concentration that had already begun to appear within Illefarn.
Under such circumstances, who would be willing to be manipulated by Kaitemier?
The alliance oath of the Northland Alliance contained clauses such as "maintain independence" and "oppose interference by external forces"; the member states of the Alliance might have frictions with each other, but when facing interference from external forces, their attitudes were still very consistent.
If not for the opportunity of the Drow War, the Northland might have spontaneously formed an alliance in the future to deal with potential incursions from the South.
Of course, it could also be to deal with the threat of Netheril's Floating City.
But now, everyone was already linked together; with the political Wisdom of the Seven Towers, they should not end up making the whole world their enemy after the Floating City appeared.
However, the opening of the Mythallar technology still required careful consideration, lest it be entrusted to the wrong person, and one person dragging the whole country down with them—that would not be fun.
Today, Xia Duo had already treated Netheril as his base for social practice, so he was naturally very disgusted with things that exceeded the rules.
……
Approaching noon, there were more and more spectators at Dawn Plaza; of course, they were mainly Elves, and just by observing the expressions of the Elves, Xia Duo could distinguish which country each Elf came from.
Cormanthor Elves, whether Gold Elf or Moon Elf, always looked at humans with unfriendly eyes; Eaerlann Elves were next, with a hint of distance amidst their closeness.
The ones with the best attitude toward humans were the Illefarn Elves; although they were all Gold Elves, at least the vast majority of them had not yet been influenced by the ideology of Great Elvenism.
Looking at humans, especially Netherese, they had a friendly sense of comradeship in jointly resisting the remnants of Aryvandaar.
As one of the few humans in the plaza, Xia Duo bore the gaze of too many Elves behind him; occasionally looking back, the Illefarn Elves would look at him in a friendly manner.
The Eaerlann Elves would unobtrusively look away, and only the Cormanthor Elves would stare at him fearlessly, or even viciously.
As for the Elves of small countries, except for Evereska, they rarely appeared here; without close-range communication and contact, Xia Duo could not deliberately distinguish them.
However, on the whole, the harmony of the atmosphere at Dawn Plaza had exceeded his expectations; at least the Illefarn Elves and Cormanthor Elves present had not erupted into any substantive conflicts.
At most, they just mocked each other with hostility; even if no one stopped them, it did not escalate to fighting, unlike the Snow Melting Competition last year, where if no one had stopped them, they would have been fighting to the death in the audience seats on the spot.
Xia Duo felt the change in the Illefarn public's attitude toward Cormanthor; perhaps it stemmed from the establishment of the Northland Alliance, but it was more likely that their officials were intentionally shaping it to pave the way for the later promotion of the concept of unifying the Elf World.
Whether it was the unification concept of Great (Gold) Elvenism or the unification concept of the Five Races Co-prosperity, it was hard to say.
Cormanthor nominally held the legitimacy of Five Races Co-prosperity, but in reality, it followed the "Great Elvenism route"; Illefarn was almost entirely Gold Elves, so theoretically, following the Great Elvenism route might be more appropriate.
But the reality was that Great Elvenism had almost no audience in Illefarn, and the Illefarn public hated Aryvandaar, which was also composed of Gold Elves, to the bone.
But if they followed the Five Races Co-prosperity route, how could the current situation of Illefarn being almost entirely Gold Elves make other Elves, who already had prejudices against Gold Elves, trust them?
Or rather, outside of Illefarn, the Elven Nations almost tacitly assumed that Gold Elves were superior to other Elves; they were all lower-class Elves anyway, so as long as they could get by, why bother changing masters?
