Chapter 1443: Grey Eagle Observations, Meeting at the Ancestral Spirit Hall
That evening, based on the experimental results from the day, Xia Duo integrated several sets of device blueprints for the improvement plans that required full-machine testing beyond the design issues.
Along with the necessary blueprint plugins for their corresponding David String Component automatic manufacturing machines, he handed them over to Iolum the next morning.
After confirming that the several High Mages newly transferred from Iolum Territory still had some matters to hand over and would only arrive in Seventon in a few days, Xia Duo simply used this time to take a trip to the Langas Plain.
……
The Grey Eagle Tribe.
Xia Duo's arrival was silent, but once he arrived, he did not make any further attempts to conceal himself.
And just as he was meeting with Manager Yarman, Mage Feishe'er, and others, an invitation from the Patriarch of the Grey Eagle Tribe and the Great Shaman followed, delivered by none other than Akeman, the youngest of the Grey Eagle Patriarch's adult children.
"Powerful Netheril Lord, my father and the Great Shaman invite you to meet at the Ancestral Spirit Hall!"
Xia Duo carefully sized up this Langasi youth, who was wearing refined Leather Armor and a wolf-head cap; although he had observed the other party many times through Scrying spells, this was the first time he had seen them in person in Reality.
Perhaps equally robust, but compared to the average Netherese who were more honest and docile, Akeman was undoubtedly full of wildness, like a young wolf that had just grown sharp teeth and dared to bare them at a tiger.
Even though he knew the person he was inviting was a powerful human Spellcaster, the look in his eyes did not hide his eagerness to try.
Seeing the other party, Xia Duo could not help but have a thought: the Langasi might still lack the ability to forge ahead, but they certainly did not lack the determination to do so.
As long as they were given a chance, they would surely give you a surprise.
"You must be Akeman, right? The Amulet on your neck is one I made!" Xia Duo said with a smile.
He had noticed the Soul-Entrusting Amulet hanging around the other party's neck from the start; the originally silver-white Amulet had now been dyed a brownish color similar to the Leather Armor, appearing quite different at first glance.
But one could hardly guess that the secret of rebirth was hidden within it.
……
From the felt tent where Yarman and the others were staying to the Ancestral Spirit Hall where the Grey Eagle Patriarch was currently located, Xia Duo saw a more realistic Langas Tribe at close range.
Perhaps because the major tribes had recently threatened to encircle and annihilate the Grey Eagle Tribe, a faint atmosphere of tension permeated the tribe, and the eyes of many women looking at Xia Duo even carried a hint of hatred.
Of course, they were currently more focused on preparing for the potential war ahead, such as making arrows, sharpening weapons, or refining herbs.
Almost every household was silently busy.
Along the way, neither Xia Duo nor Akeman and the others spoke, until they reached a tall building with walls made of piled stones, pillars of wood, and a roof of fur.
This was the Ancestral Spirit Hall of the Grey Eagle Tribe; of course, it was also a detachable, relocatable mobile building.
Upon arriving here, Akeman spoke again: "Powerful Netheril Lord, my father and the Great Shaman are waiting for you inside!"
As he said this, he also gave a provocative look.
This was not necessarily a true provocation, but it was definitely full of the mischief of someone wanting to see a spectacle; Xia Duo knew where this expression came from.
It was mainly due to the Suppression that the Ancestral Spirit enshrined in this Ancestral Spirit Hall exerted on outside Spellcasters.
Just like when Feishe'er and the other two came to rescue Yarman's group, it was because the action took place in an area far from the Ancestral Spirit Hall; if it had been here, the ones who would have lost face might have been those three High Mages.
Of course, under normal circumstances, no tribe would keep captured people in the Ancestral Spirit Hall, and even the vicinity was rare, especially when outsiders were captured.
Therefore, the Grey Eagle Patriarch and the Great Shaman inviting Xia Duo to meet at the Ancestral Spirit Hall was both a gesture of respect and a secret display of deterrence.
In this situation, if it were someone with malicious intent, they would likely not dare to approach the Ancestral Spirit Hall, unless they were completely ignorant of the hidden circumstances regarding it.
However, Xia Duo was not worried at all that the other party would do him harm; on one hand, he came with good intentions, and on the other, it stemmed from his own strength and background.
He smiled slightly at Akeman and then strode inside.
……
The moment he entered the Ancestral Spirit Hall, Xia Duo felt as if he had entered a special field, and his connection with the surrounding Magic Net became distant and tenuous.
Perhaps he could still cast spells, but the spells might manifest with unexpected results.
In fact, on the way to the Ancestral Spirit Hall, he had felt the existence of this strange power, but this power seemed to be bounded by the Ancestral Spirit Hall; the influence outside was negligible, but it surged once he entered the hall.
Xia Duo was not sure if this was a special amplification effect of the building itself, or if the building was constructed right at the boundary of the Ancestral Spirit's strongest effect.
And inside the Ancestral Spirit Hall, although it was just a very ordinary-looking Gray Eagle Wood Carving the size of a human head, it had more presence than the two adult humans standing in front of it.
After Xia Duo entered, he was captivated by the Gray Eagle Wood Carving enshrined on the altar; judging by the artistic aesthetic he had cultivated from the Elves, such a wood carving could not even be made by an Elf child learning to carve for the first time.
It was truly too crude; in fact, if not for the spirit contained within it and its placement, Xia Duo would have even thought it was a bird-shaped toy casually polished by a tribal child.
"Is this the Ancestral Spirit?" Xia Duo thought to himself.
He also wondered what the difference was between the Langasi tribal Ancestral Spirit and the Totem Pole of an Orc tribe.
Perhaps they were the same thing, or perhaps there were indeed differences.
However, he had never seen an Orc Totem Pole, and he certainly could not casually handle or study the Langasi tribal Ancestral Spirit, so the similarities and differences would likely remain unknown for the time being.
……
"Welcome to the Grey Eagle Tribe, noble Lord Xia Duo."
After the two sides met, the Grey Eagle Patriarch greeted him first, his attitude containing both closeness and a hint of distance, much like a child who wants to eat a sesame cake but is afraid of the heat, tossing it back and forth in his hands without putting it down or taking a bite.
To this, Xia Duo just nodded slightly in acknowledgment and then got straight to the point:
"I have come this time because of the encirclement of the Grey Eagle Tribe by the major tribes in the near future, and before that, I need to know the Grey Eagle Tribe's clear stance on the matter of migration."
Perhaps disrupted by Xia Duo's direct attitude, the Grey Eagle Patriarch subconsciously retorted: "Those tribes are just talking; it is impossible for them to really launch an attack on us."
After saying this, he realized belatedly that this was somewhat inappropriate, but he still stood by it.
