Chapter 1797: Elves in Action, Man-Made Natural Disaster

~7 min read 1,256 words

Liweier Forest, border of Ilfaran.

A group of six figures shrouded in black cloaks moved rapidly through the forest.

Although these six figures revealed no traces of Magic during the process, the fact that they stepped precisely into the gaps of the Mythallar's detection every time showed that they were by no means as simple as they appeared on the surface.

Heading north from Liweier Forest, the power of the Mythallar gradually thinned, and the six figures became bolder, almost never changing their direction of travel, as if they had a very clear goal from the start.

While passing a small village by the woods, one of the figures saw the villagers busy drying hay and could not help but let out a sneer:

"Is this the Irusk that Ilfaran is pushing so hard to join the Northland Alliance?"

The other figures also expressed disdain, but only the leader reminded them in a low voice: "Don't forget that Netheril also started from a few small villages!"

In fact, although Irusk lacked magical power, it was far from being something that could be summarized by a mere village; if that were truly the case, Ilfaran would never have been able to pull them into the Northland Alliance.

This would not only be disrespectful to the other member states, but also disrespectful to themselves.

Continuing north from the first village, the six cloaked figures gradually saw the full picture of Irusk—there were a total of four large settlements, and countless villages surrounding them.

From north of Liweier Forest to the banks of the Milar River, bordering the Frozen Ocean to the west and reaching deep into the mountains to the east, this roughly triangular, narrow strip of land was the Territory of the Ilusk People.

Moreover, due to the obstruction of the World Spine Mountains, the invasion of cold air from the Far North Ice Sheet was far weaker in this region than in the Dong Bu Di Qu at the same latitude.

This allowed this human nation near the far north to possess an agricultural planting environment not inferior to the southern parts of its eastern neighbors.

With such a foundation, the only thing missing for them to grow and thrive was probably a systematic magical power!

Because they were burdened with a special mission, the six figures did not linger, but they did notice that this newly emerged human nation possessed quite a few spells with local characteristics.

Such as primitive Shaman Witchcraft developed from Nature worship, clumsy Spells imitated from their southern neighbors, and even crude Tricks suspected to have come from Netheril.

Everything seemed to be developing in a good direction.

The leader among the six figures felt quite conflicted; Elves had long been accustomed to finding answers in ancient books and secret scrolls, but the human race seemed born full of curiosity and ambition for the future, always able to start from every available resource around them and constantly develop and grow.

They had witnessed the rise of Netheril in the past, and now this Irusk, which had been born not long ago, also had a trend of vigorous development.

This caused the leader among the six figures to feel extremely heavy pressure.

But compared to the leader, the other figures were much more relaxed, not at all like they were executing a key mission concerning the fate of their nation, but more like an excursion in early autumn.

Upon leaving the last settlement of Irusk and stepping onto the north bank of the Milar River, the leader among the six figures could not help but sigh:

"After I return, I will suggest that the Crown King station Observers here to keep track of the latest developments of the Ilusk People at all times; if we don't pay attention, it might turn into another Netheril."

"Mage Yisita, aren't you being too sensitive!"

One of the figures shook their head and said disdainfully: "The reason Netheril was able to rise was not because they were humans, but because they discovered a supreme treasure like the Betis Secret Scroll; otherwise, just understanding the essence of Magic would have taken them ten thousand years!"

"Shaer is right, the humans here don't have the Betis Secret Scroll, so how could they rise suddenly? Besides, Mage Yisita, don't forget the purpose of our trip; if Irusk is unlucky, I'm afraid it will become history."

"Sigh—"

Hearing this, Yisita sighed silently and said nothing more, only directing the other black-cloaked figures to continue moving north.

The further north they went, the closer they got to the Far North Ice Sheet; logically, it should have been colder, but in fact, it was getting warmer, as the World Spine Mountains blocked too much cold air to the north.

The cold air that crossed the World Spine froze a small portion of the mountain peaks completely, but it did not descend directly; instead, it drifted and invaded slowly toward the south.

Upon seeing the first Orc lying on a rock picking their teeth, Yisita's group finally stopped; the leader, Yisita, was the first to remove their cloak, revealing the image of a Gold Elf with long, slender ears and pale golden skin.

The other figures followed suit, revealing their true forms.

"Remember, we are from the Ilfaran 【Orc Slayer Society】; put on the society badges!" Yisita ordered softly.

Then, Yisita began to check the equipment on each Elf; when checking Shaer, Yisita immediately frowned, their tone quite unkind:

"I've told you how many times, do not wear any ornaments unrelated to Ilfaran. Do you think the Orcs won't recognize the emblem of your Dark Star Family, or do you think Ilfaran won't?"

"So what if they recognize it? The Orcs won't listen to them!"

Although Shaer was stubborn, they still carefully put away the lapel pin with the family emblem, and besides, the leader of this operation was Yisita.

Although they both belonged to the Crown King's faction, it was clear that Yisita was more trusted by the Crown King; although Shaer considered themselves no worse than Yisita, they did not want to have a conflict with them.

After a small interlude, the six Gold Elf Mages adjusted their moods, revealed ferocious smiles, and then manifested their forms and took to the air.

Not far away, the Orc Scout lying on the rock picking their teeth saw this scene, jumped off the rock with a 'whoosh', took a horn from their waist, and blew it vigorously—

Woo—woowoo—woo—

Subsequently, one after another, horn sounds rang out.

But for Yisita and the other Elves, triggering the Orc alarm was one of their goals, and when they flew higher and higher, with ice dregs hanging on their hair, they finally stopped.

The air in the far north was clear, and even without the aid of any Spells, the six Elves could clearly see the small black dots stirring on the ground.

"Let's do it, lest we be targeted."

"Mm."

Then, under Yisita's Guidance, the six Gold Elf Mages instantly reached a state of Synergistic Resonance, and the vast Magic Net Strings gathered together in a very short time.

The intensity of the Magic Net oscillation produced was such that even a Shaman Apprentice on the surface thousands of meters below could easily feel it, let alone those powerful Orc Great Shamans.

Almost instantly, the high altitude where Yisita and the other Elves were located became windy and cloudy, lightning began to gather, and an invisible atmospheric pressure was generated in the hearts of the Elves.
