Chapter 1810: The Strange Elf
Because the dome of the hall is very high, the rooms on the second floor also face the hall directly; Xierdalanna had a clear goal and headed straight for a room that was not connected by any pipes.
Just as they passed the doorway, an inconspicuous carved eye on the lintel suddenly lit up, and Xierdalanna and Andaluosike were caught off guard and revealed their forms.
Almost instantly, the black-robed guards on both sides reacted, drew their swords, and lunged over, while simultaneously shrieking, "Intruders!"
But Xierdalanna's figure did not pause in the slightest, and she rushed into the room without hesitation, while Andaluosike, who had also revealed his form, stayed behind to block the doorway.
Xia Duo and Puman were a step behind and were not illuminated by that Detection Artifact, which lacked even a trace of Magic Aura; at this moment, they were still in a state of Invisibility in the eyes of the base guards who had reacted, but both knew they would not be able to remain hidden for long.
This base was effectively a small Mage Tower; when entering, Xierdalanna had simulated the Permission Level of a member of the mysterious organization to evade many probes, but those were all defensive mechanisms that operated automatically within the base.
Once the Controller of the base reacted and activated active probing, it would certainly be difficult for the two to continue hiding.
However, the two had long been prepared for a direct frontal assault and did not care whether their tracks were exposed; of course, it was better to delay it as long as possible.
Just then, in front of the room Xierdalanna had entered, the two black-robed guards who had reacted first had already fallen, and Andaluosike stood with sword in hand, his eyes vigilantly scanning the corridors on both sides.
The remaining guards who had been awakened downstairs were rushing up from the two staircases below, but perhaps the design of this base had not considered such a situation at its inception.
The corridor in front of the second-floor rooms was not particularly spacious, and for Andaluosike, who was proficient in Sword Art, he only needed to defend the two sides where space was limited.
Such a defense, even for an ordinary person, would not be difficult to maintain if the strategy was appropriate, let alone for Andaluosike, a Swordmaster who also mastered Magic power.
However, at this moment, Andaluosike was not yet using Magic, merely driving the power of his physical body to face the enemy with pure Sword Art.
"They're coming!"
When he saw a black-robed figure emerge from another room on the second floor that was not connected to the Purple Qi Pool below, Xia Duo's mind shook, knowing his target had arrived.
Of course, as Xia Duo saw the other party, the other party also turned their gaze over, and a cold laugh came from within the black robe obscured by shadows:
"To think there are two little mice!"
Subsequently, the stars filling the dome of the hall suddenly brightened, and the figures of Xia Duo and Puman were also illuminated; just like before in Asikeer, Xia Duo was also appearing in the form of a Gold Elf at this time.
Of course, so was Puman.
After all, when out and about, one cannot do without a disguise.
Seeing that he had been discovered, Xia Duo did not feel surprised in the slightest, but the guards who kept emerging from downstairs and rushing up were becoming somewhat annoying.
However, Xia Duo was not as frugal with his Spellcasting as Andaluosike; he glanced at Puman, and seeing that the other party had the same idea, he could not help but temporarily slow down his Spellcasting movements, instead keeping his eyes fixed on the special black-robed guard suspected of being a Spellcaster.
At the moment, the other party had only discovered them and had not yet made a move, so Xia Duo was happy to let the other party talk more nonsense—isn't that how villains always trip themselves up?
If it was possible to stall for time without having to fight, that would be even better.
But when Puman blocked the two staircases from the first floor to the second with a Force Wall shining with bright Magic Aura, that special black-robed guard suddenly moved.
The other party tore off the black robe on their body, revealing the image of a strange Elf with two horns on their head and two wings on their back, emitting a cackling laugh from their mouth and growling, "Humans and Elves, none of you are getting away!"
After speaking, the strange Elf reached out and grasped the air, and a Blazing Longsword appeared in their hand; the flames were not an Illusion, and even from far away, Xia Duo could feel the surging heat.
"To think it's Demon Power!"
A whisper of undisguised shock came from behind him from Puman; at this moment, Xia Duo also realized that although there were no obvious demonic decorations inside this base, it was also different from the normal Elf style.
It gave one an abnormally twisted, uncomfortable feeling.
And that image of a strange Elf with two horns on their head and two wings on their back—wasn't it similar to some of the demon characteristics he had seen before in the Abyss of the Outer Planes!
And that Purple Qi Pool in the hall—he hadn't paid much attention to it at first, but when reminded by Puman that it was demonic, he also had a sense of familiarity; wasn't the sky of the Dream Abyss he had visited before with Divine Envoy Taide this very color!
The air was also permeated with a similar purple mist, though it was not obvious.
But there was one point Xia Duo could not figure out: the characteristics of Demon Power, or rather Abyssal Power, were very obvious; that feeling of wanting to pollute the Soul, entice one to fall, and infect one with mutation was impossible to ignore.
But here, whether it was the Purple Qi Pool in the hall or this strange Elf who had suddenly revealed demonic characteristics, there was no obvious Abyssal Aura on them.
At this moment, it was time for battle, so it was not suitable to use Perception on their Souls, but Xia Duo also believed that if viewed from the perspective of the Soul, it would likely be very difficult to see any Abyssal Aura.
However, Xia Duo also believed that Puman would not speak recklessly; perhaps he had encountered a similar situation before.
Since that was the case, this operation today had to be a success!
……
Just as the strange Elf revealed their true form, Andaluosike also appeared as if facing a formidable enemy, with Magic Aura constantly flashing on his body, and the aura on the longsword in his hand was particularly intense.
"Master Puman, be careful!"
Perhaps because only Puman, in his disguised Gold Elf form, appeared to be a Spellcaster, the strange Elf directly flapped their wings and, carrying that Blazing Longsword which continued to burn and release high temperatures, flew across the hall toward Puman.
Xia Duo gave a warning and immediately began Spellcasting; he certainly could not do something like selling out a teammate, and according to custom, the first thing he prepared was a Forbidden Restriction.
At the same time, Puman, who had been alerted by Xia Duo, also began his own Spellcasting.
And that strange Elf who flew over with sword in hand did not seem to have any intention of engaging in a Spell Duel with Xia Duo and Puman, appearing to believe that a single Blazing Longsword was enough to deal with the two.
But when he rushed to Puman's side, the swing of his longsword only struck and extinguished an Illusion of Puman's form; the strange Elf was stunned for a moment, then let out a light laugh and swung his sword again to extinguish Xia Duo's Illusion as well.
"Humans, your little tricks are not worth mentioning in my eyes!"
As he spoke, the strange Elf turned his gaze toward a corner on the first floor of the hall; this area had already been covered by Xia Duo's Forbidden Restriction, but before the action, Xia Duo, Puman, and Xierdalanna had long since confirmed the range of the Forbidden Restriction.
For common Spell Elements involving teleportation, there were contingency plans for which could be used and which could not, and they could be replaced at any time; the basic principle was to disrupt the other party's Spellcasting rhythm while keeping oneself in the upper hand forever.
