Chapter 1900: People-Oriented, The Highest Achievement

~8 min read 1,402 words

Xia Duo did not participate, but instead smiled as he watched the group of Elders attempt to use the various features of the Mythallar; in his heart, he actually felt a little smug.

During the design process of the Evereska Mythallar, he had incorporated many programming concepts from Earth, including comprehensive Permission Level settings, as well as "UI Design" and "System Logs," which provided the most intuitive Perception experience.

Traditional Elven Mythallar, of course, had no such UI design, almost no system logs, and the Permission Level settings were sometimes quite chaotic.

This made it difficult for successors to have a clear understanding of the Mythallar after its original creator died, whether in terms of functionality or permissions.

The former was fine; as long as the successor had enough time and was willing to spend it exploring, they could always figure out what functions existed. But once the permissions were unclear, that was a major problem.

On a smaller scale, there might be authorized users of the Mythallar that the successor was unaware of, and they would be unable to revoke access that should have been revoked; this was a case of their property rights being infringed upon.

On a larger scale, if someone with ill intent found a loophole, it became a matter of life and death.

Therefore, in the Elf World, the inheritance of a Mythallar often involved an incredibly cumbersome process. The most critical part of this was, of course, the secret scrolls that recorded every detail of the Mythallar; if those were lost, one might as well consider building a New Mythallar.

But for the Evereska Mythallar that Xia Duo participated in, the system logs took on the responsibility of inheritance. Of course, its true purpose was to record any information related to the Mythallar, which included the operation records of those with Permission Levels.

If there were a successor, they would only need to check the system logs to know if any unauthorized users were secretly using the Mythallar.

If the successor was more capable than their predecessor regarding the Mythallar, they might even be able to update or adjust the Mythallar based on the system logs.

As for UI design—or rather, the interaction design between the Spellcaster and the Mythallar—the focus was on ease of use.

Of course, for High Mages, who were Elves that had more or less studied Mythallar themselves, this might be superfluous.

But for Elves who had never studied or even come into contact with a Mythallar, this was simply the perfect design, allowing them to quickly understand everything about the Mythallar—provided it was within the Permission Levels they possessed.

To use terms from Earth, a traditional Elven Mythallar was just a pile of source code; the High Mages who acted as creators or researchers were like Programmers—they could understand it and knew how to operate it, but for non-researchers, it was simply a nightmare.

Perhaps they could simply use it passively, but that was all.

Xia Duo certainly could not do that; he strongly agreed with a saying from Earth—"Technology is people-oriented." In the world of Magic, Magic Application must also be people-oriented.

In fact, this was also an important sign of the standardization of Magic, and Xia Duo attached great importance to it, even if the High Mages might not really feel much about it.

It wasn't until Saijisi announced that the trial experience had ended that the eleven High Mages of the Council of Elders mostly just felt it was a bit more convenient than before, but as for how much significance such a design had, they didn't feel much.

On the other hand, veteran Mages like Di Putasi clearly had a different experience, but their influence was too small; as long as there were no problems with the Mythallar itself, they naturally wouldn't say much.

After the trial experience ended, the comprehensive testing was, of course, not over; there was one final process, which was to input the actual geographical data of Evereska to check for any anomalies.

In other words, the Mythallar currently being tested was closer to a general-purpose Mythallar that could be placed anywhere, but a Mythallar still needed to be combined with the actual environment and geographical factors to integrate as much as possible with the Magic Net and minimize vulnerabilities.

Similar to the formations in cultivation novels, some formations in those novels required the consumption of Spirit Stones, while others borrowed the power of heaven and earth and did not require additional energy.

To some extent, a Mythallar was a man-made formation that fit with heaven and earth and strove for the natural and traceless.

The highest realm was to have no Material Node and to appear completely integrated with the Magic Net environment; it would only manifest when needed, and when not needed, it would be as if it didn't exist at all.

Currently, the Evereska Mythallar still had one Material Node; there was really no way to reduce it further. If possible, Xia Duo would of course also hope to achieve the highest achievement of a Mythallar, but the fact was that it could not be done.

If it weren't for the fact that the Elf World had conclusive evidence, and Xia Duo had even witnessed the construction of a Mythallar without a Material Node with his own eyes, he would have preferred to believe that a Mythallar without a Material Node was a paradox.

No matter how much a Mythallar fit with heaven and earth, its essence was a distortion of the Magic Net. If one wanted the exterior to look similar to or even exactly the same as the normal Magic Net, there would inevitably be some nodes inside that concentrated the vast majority of the distorted essence; this was similar to the vacuum tail of a thermos, which was very difficult to eliminate.

One node was already a design second only to the highest achievement, and Xia Duo had nothing to be dissatisfied with, just a little regret.

The final process of the test also went without incident. Of course, whether there were incidents or not, the test was considered passed; it was merely a matter of the degree of compatibility with the local environment.

Fortunately, Xia Duo and Saijisi had completed the survey of Evereska's geography at the beginning of the design and had taken it into account during the design process.

The final result did not exceed his expectations.

"Asuosi, thank you so much. I know that without you, it would have been impossible to have this Mythallar now!"

The one speaking was Saijisi, and only he, as a researcher, understood best the huge role Xia Duo had played in the New Mythallar project.

Saijisi did not just express his own gratitude; he also had the other members of the Council of Elders give Xia Duo the respect and gratitude he deserved for his contributions.

"Andelie, Saian, you should both thank Asuosi properly. If it weren't for him, I don't know how many years it would have taken me to complete the Myth Lock Design on my own!"

In fact, it wasn't just the design and research; the overall planning of the project, and even the previous discovery of the Demon Descendant that allowed Evereska to obtain independent status ahead of schedule, were largely thanks to Xia Duo.

However, Xia Duo had always been indifferent to honors; he valued practical benefits more, so he joked:

"Saian, if you really want to thank me, hurry up and find those tea tree seeds I mentioned before."

Although Xia Duo's tone sounded like he was joking, he was incredibly serious in his heart, and there was at least some intention of urging him.

He was already preparing to return to the Main Plane, and the tea seeds he had asked Saian to find had not yet been collected, not to mention the premium tea seeds from Wuweilun, which were nowhere to be found.

"Don't worry, Asuosi. I'll go to Wuweilun in person tomorrow. I won't come back until I get the tea seeds you want!"

While Saian's words were also a joke, there was a sense of seriousness in the joke, which showed that he was going to treat collecting the tea seeds as his most important task ahead.

Xia Duo nodded with satisfaction and chatted with the Elders about the development plan after Evereska Independent while drinking tea.
