Chapter 1968: Restarting the Test

~8 min read 1,452 words

Returning to the Tower of Time, Xia Duo immediately ducked into the Advanced Laboratory. His true body possessed Arcane Fire, but this avatar did not; even though he could transfer it, he was unwilling to do so.

The following experiment carried a certain degree of risk. The original Arcane Fire had already been cultivated to a considerable stage (capable of sacrificing his own Micro Magic Net to advance other prospective Arcanists). To avoid damaging the experiment, it was better to create a new one.

Arcane Fire was not a Golden Core of a cultivator, but rather an artificial external object, or one could say a new organ. If one wanted one, they could create one; if one wanted two, they could create two.

In reality, if it weren't for the fact that Xia Duo still intended to use his own Arcane Fire in the future to verify Arcanist inheritances (to advance others), he wouldn't care at all what kind of Arcane Fire he used.

……

The process of creating the Arcane Fire went very smoothly. Of course, it was impossible for any accidents to occur; he had already practiced it while in the Projection Plane. This was the Tower of Time, where various basic facilities were relatively complete, so how could there be any accidents!

And when Xia Duo left the Advanced Laboratory, he was not thinking about how the subsequent experiment would go, but rather who would repair the damaged Magic Net in the laboratory.

Repairing the damage he caused himself was, of course, the best, as it would save him from ending up on the Lady of Mysteries' blacklist. But for some reason, Xia Duo still thought of Aiboke.

However, he had already added a lot of burdens to him during this period. If he were to let him repair the Advanced Laboratory again, he would probably go crazy!

This thought lingered in Xia Duo's mind for a moment, and in the end, he decided to tell Aiboke first. If he could repair it, he would; if he was unwilling, it would be the same if he repaired it himself when he had time.

……

Arriving at the Crimson Plane once again.

This Saint Form avatar of Xia Duo was already a Great Arcanist of the Netheril Magic System. When he arrived next to the Mythallar Adapter, everything here was the same as before; no accidents had occurred.

Of course, there were some changes, namely that the abnormal tremors of the Magic Net seemed to have subsided.

However, Xia Duo knew this was only temporary. Once he took out the Mythallar, even without activating it, it was possible to trigger Magic Net tremors again. And that would not be the minor skirmish from just now; it might stir up monstrous waves in the ocean of Magic Net Strings.

For this reason, Xia Duo had to try a hypothesis he had long held in advance—

What would happen if the Mythallar were linked to an Arcanist's own Private Magic Web?

Xia Duo guessed there were only two outcomes. One was that the Private Magic Web would completely shed its energy issues and truly become a convenient tool for other Spellcasters to use, indistinguishable from the external Magic Net within its coverage area.

The premise was that the total power must not exceed the Mythallar, but as far as this primary version of the Mythallar was concerned, it was enough to support at least 100 High Mages in uninterrupted Spellcasting simultaneously; if for daily use, it might be an order of magnitude higher.

Of course, this was the good result. There was another possibility: that the Arcanist's Private Magic Web could not bear the massive flow generated by the Mythallar.

Either the final actual power would be pathetic, or it would be overwhelmed by the vast energy.

However, Xia Duo was more inclined toward the good result. One reason was that this was his expectation to begin with; the other was that the raw material for an Arcanist's Arcane Fire came from the external Magic Net, and it was woven by imitating the structure of the Magic Net.

Normally, the Micro Magic Net expanded by Arcane Fire only differed from the external Magic Net in volume, not in quality.

Natural things are not necessarily good, nor are they necessarily perfect. The Magic Net structure re-woven by an Arcanist is theoretically superior to the external Magic Net, at least when facing specific situations within the Netheril Magic System.

And the Mythallar was precisely one of the representative Psionic Creations of the Netheril Magic System.

Xia Duo felt that this time it should succeed. Of course, he dared not guarantee it would absolutely succeed, but if he didn't have a relatively high degree of certainty, he would rather abandon this actual test.

Using only 【Wide-Area Detection】 and 【Wide-Area Prohibition】 was enough to demonstrate the deterrent power of a Floating City.

As for 【Annihilation Light】, of course, it had to be installed as well, but one had to be more cautious when using it, and it would be best not to use it if possible.

But if the actual test could be completed smoothly, 【Annihilation Light】 would be a powerful weapon that could be unleashed at any time, and this deterrent power would be completely different from having only Wide-Area Detection and Wide-Area Prohibition.

……

Returning to the experiment itself.

Xia Duo expanded his Arcane Fire, intertwining it with the external Magic Net. In the ocean of Magic Net Strings, two orders that were similar yet clearly distinct were constantly merging.

And in this process, although Xia Duo did not gain specific Knowledge, it gave him a more profound understanding of the state of existence of the Magic Net itself.

He did not transform the local Magic Net into the state of the Main Plane's Magic Net, but maintained the local characteristics, mainly because the Arcane Fire he had created now was not enough to completely cover the experimental area.

He could only adopt this indirect support method to complete the experiment. Although he really wanted to test whether his Private Magic Web could withstand the pressure of the Mythallar, he never forgot that the main topic of this experiment was testing War Spells.

However, Xia Duo's current method of indirectly supporting the local Magic Net could also, to a certain extent, serve as a pre-experiment for linking the Private Magic Web to the Mythallar.

As long as this time didn't succeed, it would save a lot of detours and problems later on.

……

Soon the Magic Net was ready, but Xia Duo first adjusted the various parameters of the adapter, confirming that the current Magic Net environment was much more optimized than before, before making up his mind to take out the Mythallar body.

With the appearance of the Mythallar body, the Magic Net immediately experienced small-scale tremors, and elemental dissipation even appeared at the peak of the tremors.

This was still with the intervention of Xia Duo's Private Magic Web; if only the local Magic Net were used, it would inevitably lead to the collapse of the Magic Net.

The experiment failing was a small matter. To take a step back, Xia Duo could choose to conduct the experiment in the Blue Crystal Plane. If the Mythallar device were damaged, that would really delay time.

But fortunately, Xia Duo's temporary remedial measures were quite good; at least they could withstand the appearance of the Mythallar body. As for activation—

This was indeed a problem, but not a big one.

In essence, activation was just a function artificially set for the convenience of use. In reality, from the moment the Mythallar was born, it had already been activated; it was just that the power of energy acquisition was different.

For a Spellcaster, the two might be very different, but for the Magic Net, there was actually not much difference.

Reaching this step, for the War Spell test, it had just begun, but for the Arcanist's Private Magic Web linking to the Mythallar that Xia Duo envisioned, a solid foundation had already been laid.

At least one point was verified: it was possible for an Arcanist's Private Magic Web to carry a Mythallar.

Xia Duo felt that the future development direction of the Mythallar might move toward miniaturization. The current one was really inconvenient to carry; even for Xia Duo, it was very difficult.

Must one install the Suspension Field Generation Base and adapter before every use?

It would be best to integrate all of these together and make them into a small accessory similar to an Ioun Stone; that would simply be an essential Artifact for future Arcanists at home and on the road!
