Chapter 1979: Meeting and Request

~7 min read 1,306 words

Soon, Xia Duo took a turn around the manor serving as their temporary resting place. It was also around this time that the guide reminded them their leader had arrived. Only then did it dawn on Xia Duo that in Elvish, "leader," "Crown King," and "Elder" were not the same word.

Yet, the current Siluwende had no Crown King; there was only a Participation Council organized single-handedly by Eaerlann after the war to rule over the remaining Siluwende territory.

Members of the Participation Council were generally called Elders, which was quite a distance from "leader." "Leader" was generally not used as a job title; it served more as a symbol of status.

For instance, the holder of the 【Sword of Artistry】, one of the three great divine swords of Cormanthor, was the Spellcaster leader of Cormanthor. Nominally, they could command all Spellcasters, but in reality, all Spellcasters swore loyalty to the holder of the 【Sword of Ruling】, namely the Yilisier Mianwang.

The Spellcaster leader only commanded the Mage legions under their name. Outsiders generally did not call them "leader," but rather "Master" or "Commander."

Hearing the guide say "leader" at this moment, Xia Duo suddenly realized that the force currently controlling Siluwende no longer seemed to be the previous Participation Council, but rather an organization gathered under the name of some spiritual leader.

"Demon Descendant?"

This was Xia Duo's first reaction, and this reaction truly broke him out in a cold sweat. He had come specifically to target Demon Descendants; if he had walked straight into a Demon Descendant's nest without knowing it, that would be a colossal joke!

Thinking of this, Xia Duo ignored whether it would alert the other party and asked the guide directly: "Which Elder of the Participation Council is your leader?"

"I have no authority to disclose the leader's identity, but I can say it has nothing to do with the Participation Council. When Observer Xia Duo meets the leader later, you can ask the leader directly. I believe the leader will be very happy to answer!"

It really had nothing to do with the Participation Council!

Xia Duo felt somewhat restless inside. He did not know if this sudden variable would hinder his subsequent actions. But upon closer thought, for Siluwende to dare protest against the Eaerlann invasion to the Northland Alliance, it should have long ceased to be under the control of the previous Participation Council.

If the previous Participation Council were still in charge, given Eaerlann's influence over them, it was hard to say they wouldn't have knelt and surrendered directly, just like those southern Siluwende cities that were "peacefully received" by Eaerlann before.

Thinking this way, the true identity of the force now controlling Siluwende became obvious—

There was a very high probability that it was the resistance organization previously labeled as terrorists by Eaerlann!

But with this, a new problem arose—

The original resistance organization could only engage in small actions in the shadows and had no power to confront the Participation Council. If it weren't for the fact that the Participation Council also harbored certain ulterior motives, they might have been wiped out long ago.

How could they have suddenly controlled the Shoudu, Taier'annuo?

And the most critical point was that Xia Duo had just come from Aifuruisi, where the Siluwende Envoy was blatantly protesting in the name of the Participation Council, though the form of the protest was a bit excessive.

However, thinking about it now, if that Siluwende Envoy, as well as the Siluwende protesters seen being arrested on the road, were all members of the resistance organization, then their behavior was not hard to understand.

They were violent organizations to begin with, accustomed to acting with violence; wasn't that perfectly normal!

Thinking of this, Xia Duo suddenly asked the guide: "Are you from the 【Aikelikesi Contract】, or the 【Light of Suluwende】?"

But the guide only smiled and did not answer directly, and this smile gave Xia Duo plenty of room for speculation.

There were many Siluwende resistance organizations, but many of them consisted of only one or two Elves and also called themselves resistance organizations; in fact, the names of their organizations couldn't even spread.

There were only two truly widely known resistance organizations: one was the 【Aikelikesi Contract】, and the other was the 【Light of Suluwende】.

The former's methods were relatively peaceful, only attacking Eaerlann Elves and never touching Siluwende Elves; their reputation within Siluwende was still quite decent.

The latter's methods, however, were particularly violent. Once a target was determined, any existence that hindered the target would become an object to be eliminated.

Whether they were Siluwende Commoners or Eaerlann Commoners.

Because of this, 【Light of Suluwende】 was notorious in Siluwende, Eaerlann, and even the entire Northland. In Xia Duo's view, for this organization to exist without being wiped out, their strength far exceeded that of the 【Aikelikesi Contract】.

They could even go toe-to-toe with the Siluwende Participation Council. Xia Duo couldn't understand how such a defeated country like Siluwende could grow such a monstrous organization.

If one were to say which resistance organization was most likely to overthrow the original Participation Council and control the Shoudu, Taier'annuo, and even the remaining majority of the national territory, it should only be these two most famous ones.

The 【Aikelikesi Contract】 won by the hearts of the people, while 【Light of Suluwende】 won by strength.

But this was only a possibility. The Participation Council were not fools; if the resistance organization took power, they would inevitably purge these "collaborators." Even if they dragged them down to die together, they would not easily compromise.

Thus, Xia Duo once again associated this with Demon Descendants. Could the force currently controlling Taier'annuo and representing Siluwende really be Demon Descendants?

Judging from the information he currently possessed, this seemed to be the only possibility. Perhaps Eaerlann's previous war announcement was indeed true.

Next, it would depend on what that leader had to say.

Although Xia Duo was somewhat worried, he was more concerned about the situation in the Northland being controlled by Demon Descendants, leading to the alteration of real history, rather than himself. With his current strength and preparations, even if he were truly in a Demon Descendant's nest, he was confident he could retreat unscathed.

……

Just as Xia Duo was pondering, the guide suddenly spoke, their voice carrying a hint of surprise, "General Kelusi has come to welcome the Observer!"

Xia Duo looked up and happened to see a Gold Elf with a calm expression and determined eyes. Judging from their attire, they could indeed be called a general, but Xia Duo knew that their essence was still a Spellcaster.

Moreover, in the martial Siluwende, as well as Aryvandaar, this style of armor was also very popular. But how much of the blood and courage of a thousand years ago did the current Siluwende still possess?

Or, what kind of history did the Demon Descendants actually want to create?

At this moment, the guide on the side reminded Xia Duo again—"General Kelusi is one of the leaders of our organization."

So "General" was not a job title, but more like a title, just like the title of "Thunder Mage" held by Xia Duo's ally, Lord Collins.

……

"Observer Xia Duo, nice to meet you! Welcome to Taier'annuo!"

General Kelusi took the initiative to greet him, their attitude appearing somewhat exceptionally enthusiastic. This was a bit different from what Xia Duo had expected; if they were Demon Descendants, there seemed to be no need to do this.

If they were a resistance organization, perhaps it was because of his identity as an Observer? Xia Duo speculated in his heart, while casually exchanging pleasantries:

"General Kelusi, nice to meet you. This is my first time in Taier'annuo; it leaves a very special impression on me."
