Chapter 1983: Another Possibility for Yierlan
This is easy to understand; regardless of what hidden dangers Yierlan might have after swallowing Siluwende, for the various nations of the Northland, those long-term, unpredictable dangers can be completely disregarded.
For the moment, as long as the war remains deadlocked, Yierlan will continue to bleed, and that is what is beneficial to the various nations.
It is only because the Seven Towers is busy planning the Ascension Ritual for Master Eriwen; otherwise, Xia Duo believes that given the awkward relationship between Netheril and Yierlan—which, while eased, still has its thorns—the Seven Towers would certainly do something.
As for the other major nations, the news that Prince Saier of Keman possessed a Nether Scroll was revealed to Netheril by Xierdalanna of Yierlan, and Xierdalanna even personally participated in the capture operation targeting Prince Saier.
Even if Keman did not know the secret relationships behind all this, suspicion alone would lead them to suspect Yierlan.
And as for Yierfalan, the Orc Tide some time ago came about quite inexplicably; even if Xia Duo has no evidence, he is willing to freely conclude that Yierlan had a hand in it.
Even the assassination of Great Elder Ankalita of Aifuruisi in Siluwende—although Xierdalanna produced evidence of the existence of Demon Descendants, it cannot prove that the evidence is related to the assassination of Ankalita.
It is possible it was obtained from elsewhere.
It is even possible that the Demon Descendants are hiding in Yierlan itself!
Didn't Xierdalanna say that their Crown King Luoruian is suspected of having dealings with the Demon Descendant organization? Could it not be a case of a thief crying "stop thief"?
As for that raided Demon-born Secret Base, it might just be a necessary sacrificial pawn used to deceive Xia Duo, and subsequently, to deceive Netheril.
If one really starts to suspect, isn't the Ansai Mountains, where that secret base is located, the very territory of Yierlan that Xierdalanna repeatedly emphasized?
To be honest, once one's thinking opens up, one can really come up with all sorts of ideas.
But Xia Duo would rather believe that General Kelusi before him is a Demon Descendant than believe that Yierlan has already become a nation of Demon Descendants, because that would mean the strength of the Demon Descendants has already expanded to an almost limitless degree.
Perhaps this war is one of the links in their changing of history!
Just thinking about this, Xia Duo has even more reason to stop all of this.
So, has Yierlan truly fallen under the control of the Demon Descendants?
Xia Duo may never find the answer to this question; the Demon Descendants are too good at hiding. Unless one catches the other party transforming or using Magic Energy on the spot, it is very difficult to distinguish whether an Elf is a Demon Descendant!
The most terrifying thing is—the Demon Descendants are not a race, but a choice of path.
In other words, there can be Demon-born Elves, there can be Demon-born humans, Demon-born Dwarves, and even, to be extreme, it is not entirely impossible for there to be Demon-born Goblins!
And what worries Xia Duo the most is—
A world has countless possibilities; perhaps in some possible Time Line, the Demon Descendants became the masters of the Main Plane and even developed a glorious civilization, and now they are coming to this Time Line to replace them!
Xia Duo very much wants to disregard everything and spread the news that the Demon Descendants might come from a parallel space-time or have awakened memories of a different Time Line, even if he is considered a delusional person, it wouldn't matter.
But doing so practically might not have any effect. If the Demon Descendants really have black technology and a grand conspiracy, doing this would only expose himself and make him a target that the Demon Descendants must eliminate as quickly as possible.
If the Demon Descendants are just a group of war victims struggling to gain recognition from the mainstream world, doing this might also cause a deeper level of confrontation between the mainstream world and the Demon Descendants.
As long as the world is not destroyed, Xia Duo actually doesn't care much about there being one more path of choice in this world; only with choices and comparisons can more true insights be sparked.
Or rather, the path Xia Duo has chosen is not any specific magic system, but development itself. As long as it is conducive to development and does not have major drawbacks, then even Magic Energy might not be an impossible choice for him.
Xia Duo even looks forward to the Demon Descendants truly coming from a parallel world or having awakened memories of a different Time Line; then, as long as the crisis of the Time Line being overwritten and history being modified is properly resolved, those legacies from the parallel world would become precious treasures for the Main Plane.
……
Kelusi ultimately did not reveal his specific trump cards to Xia Duo, but at the very least, Xia Duo confirmed that the other party indeed possesses some trump cards capable of contending with Yierlan.
That is enough; the next step is to find a way to get to the front lines so as to understand the first-hand information of the warring parties as soon as possible.
Originally, Xia Duo thought that Siluwende would be very resistant to him leaving Taier'annuo. After all, although a Great Arcanist cannot influence the general trend of the war, if they push at certain important nodes, Siluwende, as the weaker side, might collapse.
However, when he proposed wanting to go to the front lines to observe the direction of the war and record the details of the war, Siluwende responded very quickly—they agreed, and Kelusi even invited Xia Duo to travel together!
Xia Duo expressed his gratitude for the cooperation of Siluwende, but he refused Kelusi's invitation almost without any hesitation.
If Siluwende truly has any trump cards, they must be related to War Magic Artifacts. Xia Duo currently has no way to resist a War Magic Artifact with individual power. If Siluwende were to harbor any crooked intentions, such as detaining him as a hostage, attempting to drink poison to quench thirst by provoking a conflict between Yierlan and Netheril.
Although he is confident he could retreat unscathed, it would inevitably affect his original plans. Since he can foresee the risk, he must naturally avoid it in advance.
Regarding Xia Duo's refusal, Kelusi did not show anything unusual, only letting the guide originally assigned to Xia Duo—that is, the senior Mage from the beginning—take Xia Duo to the front lines.
……
Taier'annuo, Blazing Sun Teleportation Plaza.
This was originally an important Teleportation Hub for Siluwende, but now it has been turned into a war facility. In the current state of war, whether it is Kelusi or Xia Duo, both need to head to the front lines from here.
"Observer Xia Duo, because the front lines have already begun to engage, there is some interference with teleportation. We can only teleport to a logistics fortress behind the front lines. Please, Excellency, check the Portal."
The guide Naris briefly introduced the current state of the Portal, and then let Xia Duo check it himself. This check was, of course, not to check the Portal itself, but to check the situation on the other side of the Portal.
Xia Duo was well aware of this and did not pretend to be magnanimous by not checking. If he were to do that, others would not call him magnanimous, but would only think he was stupid.
However, since the other party took the initiative to let him check, it stands to reason that there should be no problems on the other side.
After a careful inspection, Xia Duo confirmed that the other side was just an ordinary supply outpost, perhaps not even counting as a fortress, and it was located on a plain with an open view. It had not yet entered a combat state, and there were only some Elf Warriors resting there.
Further away, Xia Duo used the convenience of the Portal to project his Perception over, discovering that the area where the outpost was located was not covered by a powerful Mythallar, with only traces of some non-restrictive Mythallars existing. Perhaps this was the sincerity of Siluwende!
Of course, this is provided that Xia Duo could understand these things. If he were a novice who knew nothing about Mythallars or Elven Magic, he might even suspect that the other party had deliberately found him a crappy place.
As for the direction where the battle was taking place, Xia Duo "saw" intense Magic Net tremors. From the distance where his Perception was located, he could "see" such intense movement; a preliminary judgment was that it had reached the level of a Supermagic Event.
In other words, the Northland Alliance should have already discovered this and dispatched an investigation team by now!
But unfortunately, after Xia Duo searched the Northland Alliance Mythallar, he did not find any relevant records. It is conceivable that Yierlan's "watch me operate" template is being realized step by step.
