Chapter 229: Burning to Ashes, Providing Aid
Seeing that the Lord seemed to have restrained the terrifying Trolls, Jibu dared not delay, hurriedly offering up a shield, while Xia Duo once again cast Flame Magic at the Trolls.
Two streams of flames erupted from Xia Duo's palms, licking onto the Trolls, and immediately a larger burst of sparks flared up, as if the Trolls were made of oil.
The two Trolls no longer struggled against the bindings on their legs, instead collapsing on the spot and rolling about; the flames did not last long and were soon extinguished.
Xia Duo, however, continued to release flames without a shred of pity.
Watching this scene, Jibu was filled with emotion; the terrifying Trolls that twenty of them could not handle had been dealt with by the Lord alone.
Handing over the shield, he asked in a low voice, "My Lord, are these Trolls afraid of fire?"
"Yes, but do not relax; once I stop releasing flames, they will still be able to recover." Xia Duo knew that mere surface burning could not kill a Troll; his real hope lay in the Force Sphere covering their heads.
That Trolls with extraordinary regenerative abilities would die of suffocation was truly incredible, but it was indeed a fact.
Whether it was the game data from before his transmigration or the information he specifically sought out after joining the Mage Tower because he had seen the Troll regeneration trick at the Lion and Fire Circus, all of it pointed to this.
Picking up a shield, Xia Duo released fire while waiting for the Trolls to suffocate, but these creatures with tenacious vitality seemed a bit too resilient, as there was not even a hint of weakness yet.
Xia Duo even doubted whether Troll suffocation was real; if the game data from before his transmigration had changed because he came to the real world, the records of the Tower of Time were also real.
Just then, the binding Force Fields on the Trolls' legs began to flicker frequently. Xia Duo knew that while the Trolls were rolling to extinguish the fire, they had not forgotten to break free from the bindings, so he gave Jibu and the others a warning:
"Attention, the Trolls are about to break free from their bindings. Block them, do not let them rush into the camp!"
"Yes! My Lord." Three shields responded simultaneously.
As soon as he finished speaking, the two Trolls jumped up one after another, but they did not rush into the camp to fight to the death as Xia Duo had expected.
They were truly fleeing this time, and with sparks still on their bodies, they dove into the thicket. Naturally, Xia Duo would not let them go just like that.
Leaving Jibu and the others to defend the spot, he trailed about ten meters behind them. Not too close, to prevent a cornered beast's struggle; and not too far, to avoid losing them.
It had to be said that the Trolls' advantage in the forest was truly formidable. Xia Duo could only barely keep up while following behind, and since the two Trolls were currently suffocating, they had no time to worry about the pursuers behind them, which was the only reason Xia Duo had not lost them.
Soon, the two Trolls and Xia Duo passed one after the other through the Goblin settlement that had been cleared earlier; at this moment, the Goblins' corpses remained where they were, with only a few appearing as if they had been gnawed on by something.
"Hoo—"
Xia Duo could not help but pant heavily. He had run from the treasure site to the camp earlier, then had a brief skirmish with the Trolls, and now had chased them this far.
He felt he could barely hold on any longer. Was he just going to let the Trolls run away? Leaving behind two powerful enemies lurking outside?
Xia Duo gritted his teeth and pulled himself together to chase after them. He noticed that the Trolls' speed had also begun to slow down, a discovery that made his spirits soar.
"After all, they don't have bodies made of iron!" Xia Duo exclaimed.
From the moment he first made contact with the Trolls, he had smothered their heads with Force Spheres, followed by fire and pursuit, finally wearing them to death.
Watching the Trolls' pace slow down bit by bit until they finally collapsed to the ground, Xia Duo also sat down on the ground, resting for a moment while testing whether they were truly finished.
Even until Xia Duo had recovered some strength and stood up again, the two Trolls had not moved in the slightest, yet Xia Duo still did not feel at ease.
Without approaching, he burned them again from a distance.
Crackle, crackle—as the Trolls burned, it was as if they were rubber soaked in gasoline, burning brighter and brighter!
Xia Duo watched from afar, his desire for Magic growing stronger in his heart. Physical strength was nothing; no matter how strong his body was, it could not compare to a Troll's, yet such a powerful Troll had been played to death by a Primary Mage like him.
If it were an Intermediate Mage, they wouldn't even need to be this disheveled; they would only need to maintain a Protective Spell and fly in the sky to ravage them at will.
Only after watching the two Trolls burn until only some withered bones remained did Xia Duo approach to inspect them. In truth, there was nothing left to inspect; most of the flesh and blood had been burned away, and he did not know what Troll bones were good for.
Xia Duo picked out a bone from the ashes that looked relatively intact, summoned a stream of water to wash it briefly, and kept it as a trophy.
Only then did he begin to analyze why the Trolls had fled in this direction. Was there a hiding place ahead? Or were there others of their kind? Or perhaps both?
The camp still needed to be pacified, so Xia Duo could not continue searching. He left a Magic Alarm on the spot and returned directly.
……
Returning to the camp, everyone gathered around, looking at Xia Duo expectantly, hoping for good news.
Xia Duo naturally lived up to their expectations, taking out the trophy he had picked up earlier, "The Trolls have been burned to ashes; these are their final withered bones."
"Long live the Lord!"
"Long live!"
"Alright, Jibu, take the men and continue to keep watch. Ximeng's squad, rest for half a day first." After making simple arrangements, Xia Duo directly called out to Ximeng, whose eyes were somewhat evasive, "You, come with me!"
Inside the large tent, the two wounded men hit by the Trolls' weapons were placed here; as for the two who had been torn alive by the Trolls, they were long past saving.
With such a small force, they had lost four men at once. Xia Duo felt both heartache and anger. He stared at Ximeng, his displeasure already filling his face.
Before he could even speak, Ximeng had already knelt on the ground, "My Lord, it is I who failed to lead them well! Please punish me!"
Xia Duo's anger had not yet subsided, so he did not speak, instead walking to the side of the floor mat. The two wounded had already been treated simply and covered with herbs, but they remained unconscious.
Looking at the area where the medicine was applied, wrapped in linen of unknown cleanliness, and then touching the wounded men's foreheads, he found them somewhat hot. Xia Duo frowned and unwrapped the cloth strips covering the wounds.
He summoned a stream of water, squeezing it bit by bit into the wounds to draw out the residual blood that had not been drained, then cleaned them with meticulous care.
If he did not have his Bloodline Ability, he would likely have to practice for several more years to achieve this using ordinary Spells.
After cleaning, Xia Duo did not ask anyone to bring more herbs, but instead channeled Positive Energy to concentrate on the wounds. This was something that should have been done by the priest Laidun.
Possessing the Holy Power bestowed by the Lord of Radiance, he could guide Positive Energy more easily, and with the effect of the Holy Power, he was almost a healing-type Sorcerer.
However, Laidun was currently mediating for his subjects and would only come on the next boat, so Xia Duo could only do it himself for now.
Positive Energy was related to the essence of life; the gathering of Positive Energy would trigger a Light Surge, and light was a manifestation of Positive Energy.
This was the situation inside the large tent at this moment: a large amount of Positive Energy was guided out by Xia Duo and gathered at the wounded men's injuries, making the wounds appear as if they were illuminated by high-powered lights.
It was impossible to look directly at!
Ximeng knelt on the ground with his forehead touching the floor. The brightness inside the tent shocked him greatly, and the warmth faintly radiating from the front gave him the feeling of being in a Temple.
Ximeng felt even more awe for this young Lord, pressing his head firmly against the ground, not daring to make the slightest movement.
