Chapter 2345: Teaching New Magic

~8 min read 1,405 words

Sure enough, when Xia Duo mentioned that the new Magic might be able to solve the Demon Descendant bloodline problem and was easy to learn, Yinsitedaoge showed an interested expression, but he still felt very puzzled about the Arcane Fire:

"Then what exactly was that thing you just created?"

"What I just used, I call 'Arcane Fire'. It was an attempt of mine, and I didn't expect it to succeed on the first try. You can regard it as the core element of this new Magic I discovered."

Xia Duo briefly described the essence of Arcane Fire, and to his surprise, Yinsitedaoge's breathing quickened a little. He hurriedly asked Xia Duo: "Are you saying that every one of our kin has the potential to create and control a Micro Magic Net?"

"You could understand it that way, but in my view, it is merely a tool to discover the world and explore the truth. If more of our kin participate in the research together, perhaps we can break through the bloodline puzzle very soon."

"I hope so."

Although Yinsitedaoge was somewhat expectant of Xia Duo's new Magic, he did not hold much hope that the new Magic could solve the Demon Descendant bloodline problem.

After all, it had been at least two thousand years since Demon Descendants first appeared. During this period, who knows how many Elf Mages had studied this field, yet to this day, no useful conclusions had been reached.

Either completely purge the bloodline or resolve the hidden dangers of the bloodline; if either of these had been solved, the Demon Descendant population would not be in its current state.

At this moment, Xia Duo also saw that Yinsitedaoge had some interest in the new Magic but little confidence. However, this was not a big problem; it was still better than being dismissive and rejecting it right from the start.

Perhaps this was the benefit brought by the identity of being a Demon Descendant, belittled and discriminated against for over two thousand years!

If this were in normal Elf society, promoting the Arcanist system would not be so easy. Even if one demonstrated the wonders of Arcane Fire in person, it might only be treated as a cheap toy by arrogant Elf Mages.

Thinking of this, another idea occurred to Xia Duo. He called out to Yinsitedaoge and explained the spellcasting elements of 【Light】 to him. He had only explained it once when Yinsitedaoge cast the Spell, and he couldn't stop praising it:

"It really is simple, there is no difficulty at all. I think all our kin will be able to learn it!"

Although it was just a 【Light】 spell that looked unremarkable in the daytime, it contained the most critical characteristic that distinguished this new Magic from traditional Elven Magic—

No need to consider Magic Net Affinity!

In other words, any Demon Descendant could potentially master this new Magic in a short time. If supplemented with the research methodology within the new Magic system, perhaps a wave of nationwide research could be formed very soon.

If it were really like this, perhaps it might truly be possible to rely on this new Magic to solve the bloodline problem.

At this moment, Yinsitedaoge no longer viewed Xia Duo's new Magic as a mere curiosity as he had before, but truly regarded it as a very serious path to solving the racial bloodline problem!

"Maruen, tell me more! What other Spells have you thought of?"

"Let me think—"

Xia Duo didn't actually need to think; he only needed to refer to his own learning trajectory as an Apprentice to bring out the corresponding Spells. However, there were so many Apprentice-level Spells that he decided to start with the Transmutation 【Mage Hand】.

This could be said to be the most commonly used Spell by all Netherese Mages—without exception. From the simplest movement of small objects like paper or tableware, to the Levitation that allowed one to float, and then to the Flight that allowed one to roam the sky freely, the source was Mage Hand.

And the reason this Spell was classified as Transmutation was because it did not create an energized, concrete "hand" to hold or grab objects, but rather manipulated the objects themselves.

Because it was commonly used and had many subsequent extensions, Xia Duo chose to start with it. Under his explanation—without even demonstrating it himself—Yinsitewude learned it directly just by understanding the spellcasting elements!

In this process, Xia Duo discovered that Elf (within the Magic system) Mages had an extra advantage in learning Netheril Magic, because Elven Magic focused more on affinity with the Magic Net, which made them suffer less backlash when they made mistakes in casting Netheril Spells.

It was almost equivalent to having a portable, secondary Spell Suppression Field!

Conversely, when Netherese Mages learned Elven Magic, it remained the same as it ever was; however many years it took for an Elf Mage to get started, a human would also take that many years, and their subsequent growth speed would almost entirely reference the growth speed of an Elf.

That is to say—even the most talented human would need at least two or three hundred years to reach the peak of individual achievement in this system!

The Elves could wait for this amount of time, but humans might not. This was likely the reason why the Netherese eventually chose to abandon Elven Magic; even without the Nether Scroll, they would eventually have to part ways.

And the biggest reason why Elves did not choose to learn Netheril Magic was likely tradition—the upper class didn't need to learn it, and the lower class had no access to it, or rather, if discovered, they would be punished for violating tradition.

But with the growth of Netheril, the various Elf nations on the Main Plane would sooner or later realize that the concise and quick-to-learn characteristics of Netheril Magic were useful; it was just unclear whether they would open this Magic system to the lower classes at that time.

Xia Duo was a bit expectant, but not very worried. He knew very well that the Elf upper class would not easily switch Magic systems, because that would mean a lot of the heritage left by their ancestors would become obsolete.

And if the lower classes learned the quick-to-learn Netheril Magic, would they turn around and revolt against the upper class? After all, after countless years of exploitation, perhaps endless resentment had already accumulated; they had just been powerless to resist in the past.

Right now in the Projection Plane, the Demon Descendants seemed to be playing the role of those who were at their wit's end and wanted to master their fate through a quick-to-learn secret art. The appearance of Netheril Magic might lead this plane toward a direction that neither Pure-blood Elves nor Demon Descendants had ever imagined.

After teaching Yinsitedaoge 【Flight】, Xia Duo stopped teaching them one by one. Even though Yinsitedaoge learned very quickly, one-on-one teaching would always be inefficient. He had already begun preparing to teach Netheril Magic to all the Demon Descendants and the Wild Elves he had gathered along the way.

"Yinsitedaoge, over the next few days I am going to create an Enlightenment Secret Scroll of the new Magic for all our kin. You can come over and help me with some references."

"Can do. Should we call the other Mages or Elders?"

"No need, just the two of us."

In reality, Xia Duo did not want to waste precious labor. He felt that having one extra person like Yinsitedaoge was already a bit of a waste. After all, the so-called Enlightenment Secret Scroll he was going to produce was just ready-made teaching material from the Tower of Time on the Main Plane; as long as he modified it slightly and removed some sensitive elements, it could be used directly.

The reason he wanted to call Yinsitedaoge was merely because he valued the other's status as a high-level Mage. After all, for a new Magic system, if one wanted to promote it, there had to be a person of weight to endorse it!

Yinsitedaoge was the candidate he chose; he was young, unlike those Elders who appeared to respect him but were actually unfathomable in their thoughts. After all, they were old monsters who had lived for thousands of years, and Xia Duo worried that he wouldn't be able to handle them.
