Chapter 2492: Different Stances
As a diplomat, especially an ambassador-level diplomat, a significant portion of Yinfuyalisi's work involves "exonerating" and "whitewashing" the various actions of Yierlan.
Of course, this is from the perspective of Xia Duo; from the perspective of Yinfuyalisi, this is actually upholding the national interests of Yierlan.
This is the difference in perception of the same event caused by a difference in stance. The Northland Alliance did indeed determine that Yierlan's invasion of Siluwende was illegal, but in fact, there was no such word as "invasion" in the official documents.
Rather, it was the fact of an "invasion" deduced backward from the result of "illegality" after relevant documents were confirmed; even the "illegality" itself was indeed, as Ambassador Yinfuyalisi said, a "procedural flaw."
This is the gap between ideals and reality.
Justice does indeed exist, but its realization is not without cost. The countries of the Northland Alliance could not possibly stand up hard against Yierlan for the sake of a long-weakened Siluwende; being able to determine it as "illegal" was also largely because there was profit to be made.
But at least on the surface, justice was upheld, because if they did not do so, the moral standing of the Northland Alliance would not hold up. If member states did not believe in the morality of the Alliance, the order of the Alliance would naturally collapse.
At present, whether large or small, all countries are more inclined to maintain the existence of the Alliance, so under these circumstances, the "failure" of Yierlan is almost an inevitable result.
But when it comes down to reality, the failure of Yierlan is merely that their so-called special military operation did not achieve full success; the Ailan Kingdom has already effectively split from Siluwende and is under the control of Yierlan.
Although Yierlan may not necessarily know that the Ailan Kingdom might be hiding the Illuminati, even if the Illuminati stood up immediately to reveal their identity, it would not change the fact that Ailan is controlled by Yierlan.
Even if a war were to break out, various countries would still provide support and aid to Yierlan.
Xia Duo does not want to argue with Yinfuyalisi about things under the rules. The real world does indeed require compromise, but rules also need to be maintained; one could even say that the ultimate goal of compromise is to reach a point where no compromise is needed, and everything is handled according to the rules.
Yinfuyalisi harps on about the special military operation being for the purpose of clearing out Demon Descendant infiltration, while Xia Duo says that Yierlan's invasion caused massive casualties among the people of Siluwende and resulted in substantial losses to the Siluwende Territory.
Based on their respective stances, the two sides are not quite speaking different languages, but they are certainly playing the lute to a cow; on this issue, it is fundamentally impossible for the two sides to reach a consensus.
As for whether Yierlan joining the New Covenant constitutes interference in internal affairs, Yinfuyalisi was eager to explain the justice of the Siluwende war, and on this point, the explanation was somewhat lacking.
In reality, there is no particularly good reason to explain it; it is just repeating the same old line about "the long-standing friendship between the two countries." Xia Duo, meanwhile, starts primarily from the perspective of Netheril—stripping away all embellishments, as long as Yierlan joins the Covenant, it is interference in internal affairs.
"Lord Xia Duo, it is a pity to still see this kind of arrogance unique to humans today."
"Ambassador Yinfuyalisi, whether this is human arrogance or Yierlan's lack of respect for independent sovereignty, I believe the people of the Northland Alliance countries all have a scale in their hearts and can provide a reasonable evaluation."
What Xia Duo actually wanted to say was the arrogance of the elves, but if the word "arrogance" were to come out of his mouth as a human, based on his understanding of elves, the elves would likely think it was a human's praise for them.
Or rather, in the eyes of the elves, arrogance is a virtue of the superior elves toward those below, not something that a low-level race like humans is qualified to possess.
You call them arrogant, and they consider it a matter of course, perhaps even viewing it as a form of praise from a subordinate to a superior.
To change this, one must make the elves look at humans squarely and treat matters related to humans with an equal perspective. At present, although Yierlan and Keman are wary of the rise of Netheril,
to say how much they value it, there is actually not much.
These elf nations came with ancestral legacies when they were founded; this high-and-mighty mentality cannot be erased by one or two unexpected actions by Netheril.
Only by comprehensively approaching and even surpassing the elves in all aspects will the elves truly look at Netheril squarely.
Of course, the elves mentioned here refer more to the elves of large nations like Keman and Yierlan; in the eyes of the great nations, the elves of small nations might not even be as good as the humans of Netheril!

"Ambassador Yinfuyalisi, when I previously replied to the inquiry from the Evereska Council of Elders, I proposed the 【Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence】, and these principles have also been widely recognized by the countries of the Northland. I think you do not need me to repeat them here again, do you!"
Having said this, Xia Duo's attitude could not be clearer: this issue needs no further discussion; he is firmly opposed to Yierlan joining the New Seville Covenant.
Yinfuyalisi also sensed Xia Duo's attitude, but he still had to say a few polite words; after all, he is an ambassador-level diplomat. If he couldn't even withstand a few words of rebuttal from others, he would have packed his bags and returned to Yierlan long ago.
"Hum—"
Xia Duo did not want to listen to any more of Yinfuyalisi's nonsense. With different stances, saying more was useless. He directly closed the door of the Xiu Xi Shi, blocking the words Yinfuyalisi was about to say in his mouth.
"Ambassador, Lord Xia Duo is too concerned about Netheril, to the point of being overly sensitive and misunderstanding Yierlan's good intentions. However, the opinion of Lord Xia Duo alone will not change the result of this matter."
Bulundesi said this outside Xia Duo's Xiu Xi Shi.
Yinfuyalisi felt unconvinced in his heart and felt even more disdain for Bulundesi's performance, but on the surface, he still put on a look of regret and said, "I hope so."
He had already determined in his heart that Xia Duo could not be persuaded to cooperate, but in order to minimize resistance as much as possible, he still decided to contact his home country and have Xierdalanna of the Moonhorn Family come forward to try again.
He heard that Xierdalanna seemed to have a good friendship with this Lord Xia Duo; perhaps it might work!
Actually, if it weren't for the fact that Xia Duo's Floating City performed too exaggeratedly in the south and in the Siluwende war, Yinfuyalisi would not have valued Xia Duo so much.
Recalling the guarantees he made to the Crown King and the Council at the time, Yinfuyalisi could not help but feel some regret; had he known, he wouldn't have spoken so definitively.
On the other side, Xia Duo returned to the Xiu Xi Shi and immediately contacted Yinaole, briefly describing the scene of his meeting with the Yierlan ambassador, focusing on his opposition to Yierlan joining the New Covenant.
After a moment of silence, Yinaole sighed deeply and told Xia Duo, "Like this—it will be very difficult for you in Netheril in the future!"
"I understand, but I must still persist. And it is not that I must set myself against others, but for the sake of Netheril's interests; I believe others will understand."
Xia Duo did not say that he already had other plans. After a brief exchange, he took the initiative to cut off the communication.
