Chapter 2524: Turing Completeness
————Made up for yesterday's 2, this one is too late, will make up for it tomorrow~

As the Divine Miracle receded, the newly added New Covenant signing ceremony in this Holy Day Celebration came to an end. Although the Divine Miracle was somewhat unexpected, the relevant procedures had long been determined.
What followed was revelry, but that had nothing to do with Xia Duo. Feeling out of sorts at the moment, he insisted on leaving despite the attempts by Badijiaer and the others to make him stay.
Niya did not stay either. With the celebration proceedings reaching this point, there was nothing left for the two of them to do for the rest of the day. Xia Duo had originally planned to return in the afternoon anyway, so this was just leaving a little earlier.
……
After returning to the Nan Jing, Xia Duo and Niya made an appearance at the Savile Town Central Plaza, which could be considered as not having been absent from their own Territory's celebration activities.
After the renovation of the Central Plaza, the interior was more than twice as large as it normally was. Of course, this was only the size displayed at the moment; if not for maintaining the festive atmosphere, it could actually be made even larger.
Furthermore, there were Mages from the Tower of Time on-site to regulate it. Whenever there were special performances requiring space or the Midsummer Recruitment integrated into the celebration process, additional space would be added to accommodate these activities.
When Xia Duo and Niya arrived, they happened to see a brand-new area being "released" from within the crowd, and then, under the host's direction, one eager adult resident after another came to the center of the new area to begin accepting the recruitment assessment.
Just like the Snow Melting Recruitment in the first half of the year, those adults who passed the Midsummer Recruitment were also granted an "Access Letter" that did not actually allow them to enter the Tower of Time immediately.
At the current stage, Xia Duo was still prepared to start cultivating from the children first. If it weren't for the unexpected incident of the Tianshui Three Planes, perhaps he would have selectively accepted adults for enrollment next year.
But now that there were new residents from the Tianshui Three Planes, he certainly had to take in the school-age children among these people first, and before enrollment, they still needed to undergo a naturalization assessment.
By the time everything was settled, it would be almost the year after next. However, even if new residents joined by then, Xia Duo would consider recruiting adults for enrollment.
After all, in another year, the number of new Mages in the Tower of Time would certainly reach an exaggerated level, as the apprentices from the previous three-year term would have grown up one after another.
Looking ahead, although in the long run and from an overall perspective, the Territory and the Tower of Time were still in a state of development, as far as the cultivation of new Mages was concerned, it had now reached a state where continuous harvests could be reaped.
The apprentice expansion policy after the Tower of Time's reform had been going on for several years now, and it could be said that a preliminarily mature education system had already been established.
Only when people from the Tower of Time's normal teaching system reached the level of High Mage (which was actually Arcanist) would this education system be considered truly mature.
Subsequent professional education would then be a matter of course.
……
After watching a Midsummer Recruitment trial, Xia Duo and Niya returned to the Tower of Time. The celebration outside was still continuing, but neither of them cared about this bit of rest time, instead quickly throwing themselves into their respective work.
Niya was currently familiarizing herself with every detail of the new version of the Communication Mythallar, waiting only for the end of the Midsummer Festival to begin construction, while Xia Duo began a new phase of research projects.
Having returned from "studying abroad" at the Red Heart Alliance, he now had too many projects he could do, but he was still more inclined toward the field of Planes, an area the Red Heart Alliance had researched less.
And before researching the Plane Domain, Xia Duo prepared to create the Magic Computer first. After all, sharpening the axe would not delay the work of chopping wood; the Magic Computer could be used not only in the research of the Plane Domain but also in any other field involving calculation.
Here, "calculation" was not limited to numerical calculation but also included the combinatorial calculation of Spell Elements.
This was based on the most fundamental element characteristics of the Magic Computer, which was very different from the classical computers on Earth and more similar to a quantum computer utilizing quantum properties.
Although Xia Duo did not yet have a concrete plan for any Magic Computer, he had thought about the relevant ideas for a long time, only failing to conduct further research due to the lack of an experimental environment.
Now that the vast majority of conditions were met, it was time to start the Magic Computer project.
Come to think of it, when he was at the Red Heart Alliance, Xia Duo had once submitted design ideas related to the Magic Computer to the Technical Committee, but the reply he received was that it had low value, which left him depressed for a long time.
The Technical Committee's reply that it had low value meant that he could only research it on his own and could not obtain support from the Alliance, whether in terms of personnel, funding, or experimental environment.
Unless he could produce a mature design at the time and prove its application potential, a few ideas alone were far from enough to attract the attention of the Technical Committee.
One must know that the Red Heart Alliance had already stepped into a modern society of Magic development. From the perspective of the Main Plane, the number of Great Arcanists alone was conservatively estimated to be in the millions, and the number of Spellcasters below them was even greater.
It could be said that almost every moment, Alliance members were submitting research ideas for new fields and new directions to the Technical Committee. Some ideas had high feasibility and very good application prospects, but some might just be something an Elf thought of on a whim, which even they themselves weren't sure about!
If they supported every single idea, the Alliance wouldn't be able to develop; it would just be busy with these wishful projects.
Generally speaking, one needed to achieve certain results before the Alliance would provide support, just like the Spirit Thought Network Xia Duo submitted back then. That had been verified through competition, and most importantly, Xia Duo had registered it in the form of a patent at the time, rather than just applying for support.
Later, the patent was approved, and the support followed; this was the advantage of a confirmed technology.
Of course, the Red Heart Alliance did not require results for every new idea before giving support, but the Technical Committee faced the public and had to impose such restrictions.
Professional research institutions did not need this; as long as they submitted research applications for a certain field or direction, it was easier for them to obtain support from the Alliance than for private individuals.
Moreover, the main work of many research institutions was to accept Alliance funding to conduct various basic or purely exploratory research. These studies often wouldn't have any breakthrough results for decades or even a century, but they were still conducted.
It was just a pity that Xia Duo's weight in the Red Heart Alliance at the time was not heavy enough. Although he had achieved accomplishments that surpassed most of his peers, he was still far inferior to the true masters; otherwise, it would have been possible to just casually make up a project and receive official support.
Besides the lack of preliminary results, another reason why Xia Duo's design ideas were not recognized was even more realistic—the Red Heart Alliance at the time did not have much demand for computing power.
For something whose use could not be seen, even if it were touted to the skies, no one would be willing to invest real money into researching it.
If the design idea Xia Duo had proposed at the time had been about automatic experimental machines, then it might have been possible to obtain official support.
Because in the Red Heart Alliance at that time, the shortcoming of Magic development was that experimental verification could not keep up with theoretical progress. If there were something that could automatically conduct experimental verification, the Red Heart Alliance would be willing to make it happen even if they had to smash the pots and sell the iron.
Unfortunately, there wasn't.
