Chapter 3093: Idealistic Creation of the World
As time ticked away, Mohawi gradually lost all perception of the outside world; whether it was hearing, touch, or any other sense, they all quickly faded away with time.
At this moment, Xia Duo, substituting into Mohawi's memories, felt only a void, as if a brain in a vat had its input signals cut off; at this moment, even his thinking was somewhat stagnant, yet not completely so.
Xia Duo's thinking did not stagnate because, after all, he was not truly Mohawi, nor had he truly returned to the past; he was merely experiencing this segment of memory.
As for Mohawi, the reason his thinking did not stagnate was as if some power outside of this body was supporting him.
Xia Duo speculated that perhaps the Artifact was playing a role; he attempted to probe deeper, but what he felt ultimately came from Mohawi—what Mohawi could not feel, he could not feel either.
Furthermore, there was an insurmountable barrier of time and space between him and Mohawi's real experience.
It was unknown how much time had passed; even though he was not completely immersed in a void like Mohawi, it was still very difficult for Xia Duo to perceive the passage of time, and he could only estimate how much time had passed through his mental activities.
But the Artifact Hall would inherently weaken perception, and Xia Duo had not been clear before today as to what state thinking could maintain while in a void.
Combining this with his own sensations, he roughly estimated that not much time had passed after Mohawi completely lost perception of the outside world, but in Mohawi's most authentic inner experience, it felt as if he had experienced eternity.
Xia Duo also indirectly experienced that eternity by substituting into Mohawi's memories; it was like the birth of the universe, and also like the darkness after dawn, quietly gestating something indescribable.
One layer was the reality perceived by the body's senses;
As for using other people for experiments, that actually had no essential difference from experiencing Mohawi's memories; as long as Xia Duo himself could not perceive Psionics, even if others awakened Psionics right in front of him, he might not necessarily be able to discover it.
Clearly, Psionics had already exceeded Xia Duo's scope of observation.
Whether it was system competition or differences in philosophy, in short, Psionic Magic was indeed not well-received in the Northland.
Involving the most fundamental level of consciousness, if one messed up, they might drive themselves mad, or their thinking might become alienated, turning into another person.
……
If one could awaken Psionics by depriving the body of its senses, then Arcane Magic had too many means to deprive senses; could it be that no one had ever conducted relevant experiments?
Xia Duo suddenly realized that perhaps no Arcane Mage had truly conducted such experiments; currently, spellcasters of the mainstream Arcane Magic System, whether Netherese, Elf, or Dwarf, did not think much of Psionic Magic.
"Ugh—"
And if it were involuntary participation in an experiment, that would actually be more troublesome; Psionic Awakening had high randomness—some who awakened were extremely weak when they first awakened, but some were very powerful upon awakening.
Of course, the southern kingdoms might not have researched anything substantial either; it was more at the application level, researching how to deal with Psionic Magic and Psionic Mages, rather than Psionics itself.
Thinking about it, it was still quite terrifying.
Fortunately, Mohawi's memory was like a "tape" to him now; if he didn't understand a point, he could rewind it and watch it repeatedly.
But the fact was exactly the opposite: Psionic Mages could not perceive the existence of the Magic Net at all; from Mohawi's perspective, the world was only divided into two layers—
Even an awakening assisted by an Artifact was not necessarily completely harmless, let alone a knock-off awakening simulated by Arcane Magic; if some accident happened, it would be too late to regret.
Later, Mohawi also tried to communicate with that mysterious voice, but what Xia Duo could perceive synchronously was only Mohawi's thinking process, without any Psionic interaction process.
The unconscious companions lying on the ground nearby, the Skull emitting brilliant purple light on the Central Altar, and the Psionic Scholar smiling at him beside the altar.
Plus, Zhamu Dasi was far away in the south and could not pose a threat to the Northland for the time being, so there was no need to research Psionic Magic or Psionic Mages like Calimshan, Kaitemier, and other neighbors of Zhamu Dasi.
……
It was a bright light that suddenly shone into Mohawi's consciousness, allowing him to perceive everything inside the Artifact Hall with unparalleled clarity, transcending physical senses—
However, before that, Xia Duo needed to organize his memories first and clear out any potentially polluting information (non-actively received information that could change subconscious thinking patterns).
"Experience this feeling well; it will be beneficial for you to create your own Mental Image World in the future."
Psionics truly existed!
Regarding the process of Mohawi's Psionic Awakening, Xia Duo was still somewhat confused, and he was not very clear about the process of Mohawi using Psionics to perceive the outside world.
But internally, it certainly wasn't that simple.
He was more inclined to experiment personally, as that was the only way to feel Psionics more intuitively, but unless he held an Artifact, he could not truly make up his mind.
Once this thought arose, it kept growing and spreading like weeds, but Xia Duo still had not made up his mind; after all, the current situation had not yet reached the point where he needed to risk himself.
The other layer was the world perceived through Psionics.
Of course, there was another reason for not doing so, which was that it was too inhumane; even if they volunteered for the experiment, Xia Duo had to consider whether it would harm the other party, because if they volunteered, they must be his own people.
It was as if there was never such a thing as Psionics, and all of Mohawi's actions were just an unfounded delusion.
But that was clearly not the fact.
In the Laboratory, while organizing his memories, Xia Duo repeatedly pondered the process of Mohawi's Psionic Awakening; on the surface, it looked like an ordinary person entering a dark room and then suddenly awakening a superpower.
Uncertainty was the thing researchers feared most, and Xia Duo was no exception.
A strange voice suddenly intruded into Mohawi's memory, without root or cause, as if it appeared out of thin air; not only was Mohawi startled, but Xia Duo, who was substituting into Mohawi's memory, was also startled.
On the very day of awakening Psionics, Mohawi was considered one of the earlier ones to awaken; under the guidance of the Psionic Scholar, he was still continuing to experience the state of losing physical senses, using Psionics to explore this new world.
With no results from his pondering, Xia Duo decided to continue viewing Mohawi's memories; after organizing his own memories well, he synchronized with Mohawi's memories again; this time, what he wanted to view was the memory of Mohawi undergoing Psionic training.
Or rather, the power referred to by 【Psionics】 was truly existent in the current world and did not cease to exist because of Xia Duo's denial.
Unlike the Psionic Mages Xia Duo had originally envisioned, Psionic Mages actually could not perceive the Magic Net.
"Then should I try sensory deprivation myself?"
Before obtaining Mohawi's memories, Xia Duo had once thought that Psionic Mages could also perceive the Magic Net, and that so-called Psionic Magic would ultimately fall back to directly manipulating the Magic Net.
Normally, whether it was a Communication Spell or mental communication, there were traces to follow; even if it looked like it appeared out of thin air, it would inevitably leave traces, it was just a matter of whether the observer could discover them.
