Chapter 3214: The Tragic State of the Deep Pit
However, such cooperation involving multiple aspects could not possibly be fully finalized by Xia Duo and Feilifa standing in a field; for now, only a preliminary intent had been reached, with many details remaining to be discussed later.
"The Alliance Observers have arrived, they are already in Kapiela city, let's head back too!"
Compared to Xia Duo, who was a pure outsider, Feilifa, as an Eaerlann Elf, could barely be considered a local snake here in Kapiela; he possessed sources of information that Xia Duo lacked.
"Alright."
Xia Duo responded, then asked if they needed to pass through that black stone building serving as a spatial node again on the way back; to this, Feilifa smiled and said:
"No need on the way back. The layer of space we are in now and the one from just before are completely parallel and equivalent relative to the outside world; walking back directly, or flying, or teleporting, none of it makes a difference."
Considering that the Alliance Observers had already arrived in Kapiela, Feilifa did not actually ask Xia Duo to walk back, but instead used the Teleportation Array of this agricultural research base to teleport back to Kapiela.
……
Kapiela, City Council Hall.
Xia Duo met the Alliance Observers who had been urgently selected here; there were seventeen in total, five of whom were Dwarves. Apart from two from Danzo, the other Dwarf nations had only sent one each.
There were three humans, two from Netheril and one from Irusk, and the rest were all Elves. Among them, Ilfalan, Cormanthor, and Evereska had each sent two observers, while other small nations had only sent one.
Although Evereska was also a small nation, it was quite special; the Northland Alliance Headquarters was located there, and coupled with their active efforts to win over small Dwarf and Elf nations, a prototype of a Small Nations Alliance had initially formed.
Nowadays, their voice within the Alliance was different from the past; while not quite at the level of challenging the major powers, it was clearly beyond the scope of an ordinary small nation, and sending two observers this time was perhaps a manifestation of this special status.
As for Yierlan, with Feilifa and numerous garrison troops present, where would there be any need to send special observers?
"Welcome, everyone, to Kapiela!"
Although he was an Eaerlann Elf, Feilifa still welcomed the Alliance Observation Group with the posture of a host; the Ailan observers present and the Lord of Kapiela expressed no objections to this.
After a simple welcoming ceremony, according to Xia Duo's wishes, they should have hurried to see the scene, but since this was an Elf city and most of those present were Elves, Feilifa still allowed a little time for rest and communication.
During this period, the two observers from Netheril found Xia Duo and reported their identities, names, and even their mission—"Speaker Badijiaer told us that once we arrive in Ailan, we are to follow all instructions from Councilor Xia Duo."
"Did Badijiaer say anything else?" Xia Duo asked casually.
The two Seven Towers Mages looked at each other, and one of them, who identified himself as Kulas from Morien Tower, answered Xia Duo, "Speaker Badijiaer also asked us to convey to you that factories can be rebuilt if lost, but you must not lose your reason due to anger and fall into the enemy's trap without realizing it."
That was certainly blunt enough, but Xia Duo did not take Badijiaer's warning to heart, because this matter could even be said to have been facilitated by himself; saying everything was in the plan was a bit of an exaggeration, but it certainly wouldn't make him lose his reason.
Badijiaer perhaps thought that his eagerness to rush to Ailan upon hearing the news was a sign of anger, but how could Badijiaer know that the reason Xia Duo was so urgent was actually because this was a rare opportunity to publicly investigate the Illuminati? If not for other procedures the Alliance had to follow, his first stop in Ailan would have been those attack sites!
"Alright, I understand. You just need to be responsible for recording later; you don't need to do anything yourselves."
The Alliance Observers' participation in the investigation was not for them to investigate personally, but to witness the investigation by Xia Duo and the Yierlan side, and subsequently provide recognition of the investigation results as evidence for the various Alliance nations to support follow-up investigations and counterattacks.
……
After resting and communicating, Xia Duo and Feilifa were finally able to set off for the scene. After one transit, Xia Duo arrived at the small city where the first attack site was located.
Just after stepping out of the Portal, he sensed the Magic Net outside the city still churning restlessly even now. Among the observers present, apart from the Ambassador of Irusk, the others were at least Elite Mages, so it was not difficult for them to sense the Magic Net's turbulence outside the city.
"To be so tragic, these attackers were truly calculating!" Feilifa also couldn't help but exclaim.
Previously, he had been ordered to come to Ailan to investigate the attack sites, but considering Xia Duo's reply, he had not gone to the sites himself, but instead had his subordinates secure them.
This was actually his first time seeing such a tragic scene. Although he hadn't yet seen the direct attack site, just from the miserable state of the Magic Net's turbulence, he could already imagine what the attack site looked like.
Of course, he had known what the attack sites looked like while still in his home country before arriving in Ailan, but sensing the state of the Magic Net in that area from such close proximity still left him feeling very shocked.
To think there were actually Spellcasters who dared to do this!
Although the Northland Alliance's Supermagic Treaty had been abolished because some of its clauses were too detached from reality, the general principle of the Northland nations controlling the scale of magical activities remained unchanged.
At the very least, in terms of war and conflict, one should try to avoid using extraordinary spells.
Let alone terrorist attacks; if the attackers were so unscrupulous and were not curbed, one could almost foresee what would develop in the future.
……
Perhaps due to the pressure brought by the Magic Net's turbulence in the distance, or perhaps due to the huge impact of the attack incident itself, the observers accompanying Xia Duo and Feilifa all looked grave.
Even the Ambassador of Irusk, who knew nothing about Magic, could feel the severity of this incident while in such an atmosphere.
The journey was silent, and under the escort of the Yierlan garrison, the group arrived at the outskirts of the small city.
From afar, Xia Duo saw the road ahead cut off by a huge, deep pit with blue light shimmering at its edges. In fact, this was not his first time visiting this small city.
Although he did not personally make the final decision on the location of every Magic Artifact Factory that the Tower of Time invested in here in Ailan, he had personally come to see every site after it was determined, and this small city was, of course, no exception.
The deep pit cutting off the road ahead was where a Magic Artifact Factory had been located; if he remembered correctly, this was even a factory that had already been built and was undergoing trial production!
As Xia Duo's group gradually approached the deep pit, the Magic Net turbulence they felt became increasingly severe, and because of their appearance, it even broke a certain dynamic balance, triggering random spell attacks.
And this scene was often the typical effect when a Mythallar collapsed and triggered a Magic Net riot.
