Chapter 356: Escape and Temporary Departure
"Attack!"
The sharp voice from before gave a low shout, followed by the sound of several sets of footsteps, but Xia Duo paid them absolutely no mind, merely controlling the Blade of Veto to soar into the air.
The first strike slashed at the iron chain above his right hand.
At the same time, within Xia Duo's blurred vision, the few figures that had just approached also raised their swords to stab at him; the Mage Armor blocked them without any surprise.
Xia Duo continued to control the "Flying Sword" to slash at the chains, but a commotion had already broken out among the figures opposite him, and he heard someone muttering tremblingly, "Magic, it's magic!"
"It's magic! Only the Mage Lord can deal with him, we can't!"
"Right, let's go report to the Mage Lord!"
Yet the sharp voice from before did not retreat. "Nuode, you go back and report to the Mage Lord! The rest of you, continue the attack! Magic isn't permanent either; I want to see if my sword is sharper, or his magic is sturdier!"
Having said that, he shouted toward Xia Duo again: "Luoer, give up the resistance. You have already become a noble Mage; as long as you beg the Mage Lord for mercy and swear loyalty to him, the Mage Lord will accept you!"
How could Xia Duo possibly be swayed by this! He didn't even have the interest to respond. With the help of magic, he could actually speak now, but it didn't have much meaning.
He only wanted to shake off his bindings as quickly as possible, then recover his body, and consider things afterward!
Clack—
The chain snapped!
But Xia Duo here was only a Projection, possessing no Bloodline Ability, and having been beaten into a state of severe injury, his powerless right hand dragged along with the chain and shackles as it fell.
The rapid fall itself, combined with the strain on his wounds, made Xia Duo unable to help but let out a muffled groan; the Positive Energy he had channeled earlier had had a negligible effect, merely stopping the bleeding temporarily.
The Flying Sword continued its actions, and Xia Duo endured the pain, struggling to tilt his body, lowering his head to rub his right eye with his shoulder, his right arm now somewhat liberated.
The world became much clearer all at once!
This was the first time since he had projected over that he had seen the scene before him clearly—
On the wooden platform, at close range, several soldiers wearing Leather Armor were surrounding him, stabbing repeatedly; if it had been a 1st Circle Mage Armor, it would have been pierced through long ago.
But a 3rd Circle Spell is not so easily pierced.
And a little further away, below the wooden platform, the Commoners who had previously been quiet were now scurrying about in a chaotic mess.
With one eye able to see clearly, the efficiency of the Flying Sword also shot up; every slash left a deep notch.
He slashed again, the notch deepening; the only thing that made Xia Duo somewhat annoyed was that every slash tugged at his wounds, which was almost no less painful than those two lashes from before.
Thinking of the whip, Xia Duo glanced at the executioner to the side, who was already blue and purple and had been restrained to death, thinking to himself, lucky you!
Another "clack" sound, the chain was severed, and Xia Duo fell to the ground as a result, which caused the soldiers surrounding him to lose their target all at once.
But they quickly adjusted their target and continued to attack. Xia Duo still ignored them; he was covered in blood and in such pain that it was almost impossible to control himself. If not for his previous Focus Training, he really doubted whether he could still cast spells.
Even for stored spells, it required a moment of focus to extract them from the Magic Net.
And although the Flight spell did not require a state of focused Spellcasting to maintain, controlling the Flying Sword to slash also required a certain amount of concentration; he was currently enduring the pain while controlling the Flying Sword to liberate himself.
He also had to worry about when the powerful Mage Lord in "Xiao Luoer's" eyes would arrive; how could he have the heart to pay attention to other things!
He could only free himself from the bindings, then whether he left or stayed, he would be able to hold the initiative!
Time ticked away bit by bit. Although Xia Duo had a sufficient path of retreat, he did not want to waste this precious opportunity for a Projection, and the Flying Sword slashed at the metal chains again and again.
Soon, Xia Duo was completely liberated; although his hands and feet were still wearing shackles, this no longer affected his ability to leave.
He replenished himself with another 3rd Circle Mage Armor, then added the Flight state to himself; at this point, Xia Duo's stored spells were all used up!
(Total circles of stored spells = square of the highest spell circle mastered multiplied by 2, which is 3*3*2=18, 6 3rd Circle Spells, including 1 Imprisonment Sphere, 2 Flight spells, and 3 Mage Armor spells.)
Taking advantage of the fact that the flight state of the Blade of Veto was still active, Xia Duo forced himself to pull his spirits together and cast the 1st Circle Spell Hidden Mist; a cloud of Mist instantly spread out with Xia Duo at the center.
Although it could not completely hide his figure at close range, that was not Xia Duo's goal; it was to create panic and let the Flying Sword move in to take advantage.
He did not want to leave these few people who had been in close contact with him alive.
In fact, before the Mist appeared, these few soldiers were already preparing to flee; the fact that their sword attacks had been ineffective had already accumulated their fear to the extreme, and they were only hindered by the Captain's orders, forcing them to continue attacking.
As long as the situation changed slightly, they could release their fear and cause their morale to collapse completely; the appearance of the Hidden Mist did exactly that, but unfortunately, their running speed could not keep up with the speed at which the Flying Sword killed.
Xia Duo controlled the Flying Sword to slash across their necks; how could flesh and blood resist the standard longsword of an Elf Sword Singer? The four ordinary soldiers were killed one by one with almost no defense.
Only that Captain who had been speaking earlier remained calm, dodging while fleeing and using his sword to parry the Blade of Veto. Seeing this scene, Xia Duo could only sigh silently and withdraw the Blade of Veto.
The Flying Sword could not last long, and he did not want to lose this very handy magic weapon!
With a shift of his consciousness, he was already flying, though the shackles on his hands and feet that had not been removed made his flight speed much slower than normal; however, that did not matter, being able to fly was already quite good.
In mid-air, he saw from afar a middle-aged man in gorgeous clothing, surrounded by a group of soldiers, moving toward the plaza where he had been before.
Xia Duo immediately became nervous. Just how strong was the powerful Mage Lord in "Xiao Luoer's" mind? Could he fly over and knock him down? Or perhaps strike him down from far away?
Until the figures on the ground in the distance became a tiny dot, the other party did not pursue; it seemed this so-called powerful Mage Lord was nothing more than this!
And at this moment, Xia Duo also began to seriously consider the place he was going to next. That was just a small town, with no high mountains around, only the sea to the north. With his certain understanding of the Nether Territory, he immediately judged that it should be the Narrow Sea.
Perhaps this was Seventon?
There was indeed that possibility. Thinking this, Xia Duo had already descended toward the forest below; the Flight state was almost over, and once the spells stored in the Magic Net were used up, they needed to be replenished.
And before he recovered to the point of being able to cast 3rd Circle Spells, it would be impossible for him to fly again.
This was truly a headache-inducing matter!
