Chapter 660: Spellbook Structure, Tea Seeds Obtained
Regarding the Fielder Spellbook, although in the long run the content within might be more important, for the moment, what Xia Duo values more is the spellbook itself.
It's a bit like "buying the casket and returning the pearls," but Xia Duo is currently lacking exactly this kind of "box" to store spells!
After a brief interlude, Xia Duo and Niya decided to continue the spellbook decryption project, though the subsequent decryption would not need to be as troublesome as before; having mastered the spellbook's Permission Level, Xia Duo could easily obtain information that previously required multiple Identifications to acquire.
For decryption, this was practically entering the fast lane.
Moreover, since the Outer Structure had already been opened, many internal details of the spellbook were already directly exposed.
Xia Duo mainly divided the spellbook into six parts, from the core to the periphery: Energy Layer, Central Link Layer, Inner Page, Protection Layer, Special Function Layer, and Outer Structure.
Note: "Layer" here refers to functional levels, or energy flow paths, not physical structural layers.
Among them, the 【Inner Page】 is linked to the 【Central Link Layer】 and is on the same level as the body's 【Protection Layer】; the spells on the inner page obtain energy from the 【Energy Layer】 through relatively unified ports.
Currently, Xia Duo and Niya have only decrypted the 【Outer Structure】, including mechanisms such as verification, protection, concealment, and linking, all of which have been fully mastered by Xia Duo.
Compared with Niya's spellbook, this antique from over 200 years ago is not at all inferior.
However, Xia Duo also discovered a drawback: the verification mechanism is on the outermost layer, and once cracked, the remaining parts are almost undefended, whereas the verification mechanism of Niya's spellbook is at the core; even if the outer structure is cracked, one cannot obtain the Permission Level for the inner layers.
Or rather, to break a "modern version" spellbook from decades ago, one must obtain the core Permission Level all at once; this complexity is greatly increased, which can be considered a small progress brought about by changing concepts.
Xia Duo will absorb these experiences and, while borrowing from his experience writing code before crossing over, design more rigorous permission verification and management mechanisms for his spellbooks.
Similarly, regarding protection functions, Xia Duo will also optimize them by referencing some software development experiences, because he discovered that spell design and software development really have too many similarities.
Magic Items, including spellbooks, are essentially spell clusters with specific functions; this is a simple, object-oriented spell design philosophy.
……
The Special Function Layer of the Fielder Spellbook contains functions such as 【Levitation】, 【Control】, and 【Positioning】, which Xia Duo could directly learn through the spellbook's Permission Level.
With this understanding, one could "prescribe the right medicine for the illness"; in just half a day and one night, Xia Duo and Niya parsed most of the 【Special Function Layer】.
Of course, this process still required bridging external Mithril Components to equivalently replace the Element Units within the spellbook, and then performing repeated verification to obtain the specific details of the spellbook.
After all, this spellbook contains elements higher than the 5th-ring level, so it can only be obtained indirectly; otherwise, it would be impossible to acquire all the details.
And even if it does not contain elements higher than the 5th-ring level, as long as it has been encrypted, it must be decrypted sequentially in this way.
But then again, if there were no encryption, there would be no need to decrypt; for anything higher than the 5th ring, one would only need to find a Mage who can access deeper levels of Magic to take a look.
Even though the Permission Level has been obtained, the decryption process still cannot be skipped, but compared to before, it is already much easier.
……
After finishing today's work with Niya, Xia Duo did not go to rest, but instead went to Savile Town again to meet Patriarch Aoruipusi of the Silver Leaf Family.
The fleet transporting new residents to Daxia Territory had already arrived from Daxia Territory, stopping at Savile Port for only one night, and would continue its journey north tomorrow.
Because of the spellbook matter, Xia Duo almost forgot to ask about the progress of the boarding list; if he had waited until tomorrow to find out, it would truly have been too late.
After all, this concerns a lot of "ticket money"!
Among them, there might very well be the seeds of the "Bonu Tea" that Xia Duo has been longing for!
As for those Elven classics, or even Elven Magic Artifacts, he actually didn't value them much; they are not of the same system after all, and having one or two for reference is enough. If he had to spend a lot of time and energy researching them, then that would be quite unnecessary.
Unless these Elves could produce data on a Mythallar, then Xia Duo would have to hold them in higher regard!
Liyadun Manor.
A young Elf personally received Xia Duo at the door, but this Elf was not nearly as smooth as Aoruipusi, wearing an arrogant face the whole time, which made Xia Duo feel quite disgusted.
He believed that if an Elf were to work in the service industry, they would definitely receive a pile of bad reviews, though it is also possible that some people just fall for that sort of thing!
In any case, he does not like this kind!
After sitting and drinking tea for a while, Aoruipusi finally hurried over. Upon meeting, he waved away the clansman who was entertaining Xia Duo here, and then apologized sincerely: "Apologies, Lord Xia Duo, for keeping you waiting. I was just entertaining a guest who wanted a ticket."
"No matter, I only just arrived. However, at this point in time, has the boarding list not been finalized yet?" Xia Duo could not help but feel a bit puzzled.
"It has already been finalized, but there are still Elves who refuse to give up, wanting to see if there are any other ways to board."
Xia Duo nodded. It seemed that the boarding tomorrow morning would likely not be Taiping. After thinking for a moment, he asked again: "Is there any news about the Bonu Tea seeds?"
This was what he cared about most. This kind of tea not only has practical value, but it also reminds him of his hometown. If he had to buy it, it would indeed be a significant expense over the years.
But if he could cultivate it himself, even if only for his own consumption, it could save him a large sum of money. The longer he lives, the more he saves!
"Lord Xia Duo, I have to say, your luck is truly excellent!"
Aoruipusi said with a sigh, then took a small wooden box from the storage ring on his hand, placed it in front of Xia Duo, and gently pried it open from one end, displaying the inside of the box.
Inside was a layer of inner-colored velvet cloth, and a brownish-tan seed lay quietly in the depression. As soon as the box was opened, it emitted wafts of fragrance.
Different from the smell of the raw "Bonu Tea" leaves, Xia Duo could smell that both belonged to the same fresh style; of course, it could also be psychological.
But at this moment, he truly believed that this was the seed of the Bonu Tea Tree!
Xia Duo stared at the seed for a while before asking Aoruipusi, "This is the seed of the Bonu Tea Tree? Can you tell me about its origin?"
"This is indeed the seed of the Bonu Tea Tree! As for its origin, the story behind it is much more convoluted!"
