Chapter 74: Killing

~7 min read 1,295 words

There are many Orcs on Wolf God Mountain; if they cannot teleport, even an Archmage could easily be trapped here, let alone a 12th Level Mage like Wier Lingzhu.

And if they were to lead an Army here, it would be equivalent to the Orcs pouring out in full force to attack the Territory's Mage Tower; in fact, no Orc has ever been able to approach the town area unscathed.

However, the situation this time is vastly different.

The Orc Tide, a tradition that originally began simply as a way to exile clansmen due to a lack of food, has now evolved into a fixed annual carnival for going out.

Whenever the Orc Tide occurs, the Orcs on the mountain go out in groups to fight, slaughter, and plunder at the foot of the mountain; this time, Wier Lingzhu deliberately arranged a large-scale frontal battle with the Orcs.

Such an intense battle far exceeds any previous Orc Tide, which naturally attracts more Orcs to head there.

Currently, there are fewer Orcs on the mountain than during a typical Orc Tide, and they are primarily females and the young.

Of course, the most critical point is that they have a real Archmage accompanying them this time.

Regardless of what Archmage Olong's true purpose is, as long as they can kill as many Orc Spellcasters as possible and destroy the Totem Pole, then everything will be worth it.

However, the moment the four of them appeared, a long howl rose from a stone hall behind the Totem Pole, and immediately after, Aipusi and the others felt their bodies jolt, slowly descending from mid-air.

"Lord!" Aiboke shouted.

"Do not panic!"

Aipusi had anticipated this, saying to Archmage Olong: "The Orc Great Shaman is left to you, Lord Olong; Bishop Anbulier, please suppress the Totem Pole, and we will go clear out the other Orc Spellcasters."

Having said that, Aipusi casually threw a Fireball in the direction of the Totem Pole; he certainly did not expect a single Fireball to destroy a Totem Pole possessing special power, he just wanted to draw aggro.

Sure enough, upon seeing Aipusi attack the Totem Pole, the blood-red eyes of the Orcs that had already surrounded them were almost dripping blood.

But after Aipusi threw that Fireball, his figure split into four, running in four different directions; Aiboke also made the same move as the Lord.

Four Phantoms that were almost impossible to distinguish ran toward the surroundings.

Just this move of theirs caused more than half of the Orcs in front of the stone hall to leave.

Meanwhile, Bishop Anbulier quickly approached the Totem Pole and raised his warhammer; a dazzling pillar of light descended upon him from an unknown source, and this pillar of light was expanding slowly and firmly toward the surroundings.

At this moment, Archmage Olong felt that the restriction forbidding flight had begun to weaken, but he did not fly up at this moment, instead standing in place and waiting silently.

Strangely, all the Orcs present turned a blind eye to Archmage Olong; even if they bumped into Bishop Anbulier's pillar of light and bounced back, they would automatically dodge when about to touch Archmage Olong.

Cough—cough—cough—

An old Orc with graying hair and a hunched figure walked out of the stone hall tremblingly; before it could even speak, a gray ray shot out from the tip of Archmage Olong's staff.

However, before this ray could reach the old Orc, it was blocked by an invisible barrier; Olong's eyes narrowed—the Orc had actually mastered a Protective Spell?

What an incredible thing!

In the cognition of almost all human Mages, with the Wisdom of Orcs, they are only worthy of possessing some shallow elemental Magic.

And whether it is summoning lightning or shaping wind and fire, Orc Spellcasters are not as proficient as human Mages.

But now, what did he see? An energy barrier or a Spell barrier!

Archmage Olong suddenly became a bit interested in this old Orc, so he tried asking in the Orc language, "What kind of Magic is this?"

The old Orc did not speak, merely turning the Bone Staff in its hand; the surrounding Orcs began to howl and surround Archmage Olong, some even throwing their weapons before they could wait to get close.

Archmage Olong smiled, not caring in the slightest about those attacks, and still shot a ray from his staff, though this time it was not gray, but green.

An Orc Warrior lunged to block in front of the old Orc, intercepting the ray, but it instantly turned into fly ash itself.

Swish, swish, swish—

Several weapons passed through Archmage Olong, but he was not affected in the slightest, still asking as before, "What kind of Magic is that? Where did you get it?"

The old Orc still did not speak, but its actions already indicated its attitude; a giant bolt of lightning was emitted from the tip of the Bone Staff, then struck toward Bishop Anbulier beside the Totem Pole at a speed difficult for the naked eye to distinguish.

The powerful lightning energy instantly pushed back the pillar of light that was shrouding Bishop Anbulier and slowly expanding by half a meter; affected by this, Bishop Anbulier let out a muffled groan, yet still maintained the pillar of light.

Archmage Olong was not angry at the old Orc's lack of cooperation, but he was also unwilling to wait; he had his own mission for coming here, so he made a decision immediately.

Two consecutive rays were shot at the old Orc, moving extremely fast, leaving the Orc Warriors who wanted to block with their bodies no time to react, but this time it still achieved no effect, dissipating upon hitting the invisible barrier around the old Orc.

However, Olong's methods were by no means limited to this; another Archmage Olong appeared behind the old Orc, extending his right hand covered in Magic Aura, and brushed it against the invisible barrier quite casually.

The point of contact sparked an intense Magic Aura! Yet in an instant, it returned to calm.

At the same time, the Archmage Olong in front fired another ray; this time, the ray hit the old Orc directly, and immediately after, Archmage Olong took out a bright black Gemstone and chanted a spell.

A black light flashed, and the old Orc's Soul appeared inside the Gemstone, while its body had already turned into a dried corpse.

Amidst the successive roars of the Orcs, Archmage Olong put away the Soul-Binding Gem with satisfaction, and when he looked at the surrounding Orcs again, his eyes were filled with malice.

A giant ape-like creature was summoned by him; as soon as it appeared, it trampled an unlucky Orc to death, though the fate of the other Orcs was no better.

The giant ape-like creature really was like a crazed ape, beating its chest while rampaging through the pile of Orcs, grabbing an Orc at random and stuffing it into its mouth.

With a crunch, blood gushed out, but this scene did not scare the Orcs away in the slightest; instead, because of the death of the Great Shaman, they became even more frantic, charging toward the ape-like creature without fear of death, one after another.

They even forgot about Archmage Olong, who had truly killed their Great Shaman.

A moment later, Aipusi and Aiboke flew over from a distance and saw this very comical scene; all the Orcs seemed to have completely lost their minds, playing hand-to-hand combat with a giant ape.

However, they also saw the dried corpse that was still clutching the Bone Staff until death, their hearts trembling, "Lord Olong, some of the Orc Spellcasters have been cleared; please, Lord, take action to destroy the Totem Pole."
