Chapter 822: Treehouse Space, Energy-Saving and Environmental Protection
Previously, when Suo En asked him about matters related to Netheril Magic, he had directly given him a book he wrote himself, "Principles."
After Suo En finished reading it, he only gave a blunt and crude evaluation, even saying that this kind of magic was only suitable for short-lived species to learn quickly, and that it was practically a blasphemy against the supreme logic of magic; afterwards, he never asked about anything related to Netheril Magic again.
Perhaps this was the arrogance of an Elf, but this also made Xia Duo happy and relaxed; he certainly wouldn't take the initiative to mention the Arcane Fire within Netheril Magic!
If the other party knew of the existence of Arcane Fire, they would probably understand the true intent and potential of Netheril Magic!
Although it might not necessarily be truly realized, controlling the Magic Net could be said to be a dream for any Spellcaster.
Even a High Mage is no exception!
……
Unknowingly, a few more days passed, but the envoys of the Akaola Kingdom still had not appeared. Suo En could no longer suppress his restlessness, starting to pace back and forth inside the treehouse, and his gaze toward Xia Duo became increasingly unkind.
"I am going out for a while; you stay here and do not go out casually!"
"Yes."
At times like this, Xia Duo was exceptionally well-behaved, fearing he might provoke the other party. Only after the other party left did he begin to observe the interior of this treehouse, even using Magic to test it.
But no matter how he observed or tested it, this treehouse was exactly the same as a real treehouse; even when he scraped off a bit of wood shavings to store in his Personal Space, they did not disappear.
If it weren't for the fact that a few days ago, he had seen with his own eyes Suo En casting a Spell to open a portal on a large tree, and that the wood grain inside the treehouse was exactly the same as that thick oak tree outside.
He would have truly thought this was just a hallucination.
Yet, no matter how thick the oak tree outside was, it could not possibly be as spacious as the interior. He had been outside before; looking from the outside, that oak tree was still in its original appearance and had not changed its form.
Thus, Xia Duo had to guess that Suo En had opened up a space within this tree, and it completely overlapped with the Main Plane (Projection) where they currently were.
This Spell made him truly envious!
In the Main Plane, Xia Duo knew that Netherese Mages could Create Demiplane, but he could not find such a Spell, or any related information.
Knowledge related to the Plane seemed to be guarded very tightly.
He had not expected to see a small space, or rather a Demiplane, appear from nothing in the Projection Plane. It was just a pity that Suo En cast Elven Magic, and Xia Duo had little research on Elven Magic, so he understood almost nothing.
Only some Low-Circle elements were glimpsed by him, but he speculated that those elements he could glimpse were likely just an extended support system used to coordinate the stability of the Spell or energy pathways.
They did not touch upon the core elements related to the Plane at all.
For Xia Duo, although he watched Suo En cast the Spell from start to finish, it was basically the same as watching for nothing.
It was just a pity he didn't know if he would have the chance to ask Suo En about the details related to this Spell later!
……
No matter how much he observed or tested the treehouse, he couldn't make out anything more; it was just an ordinary oak treehouse.
Since Suo En was not there and he couldn't ask questions, Xia Duo didn't want to waste this time, so he began to study Spell Circle ascension.
Since he required members of the Progress Society to complete the Ascension Trial to finish their promotion, he certainly wouldn't leave himself out.
Currently, the Magic Net layer Xia Duo was in contact with was the 6th Layer. Although he could not level up in the Projection Plane, it did not hinder the acquisition of Knowledge, experience, or even power.
A Spell composed entirely of 6th Circle and lower elements could very well be equivalent to a 7th Ring Spell.
This was the real High-Low Ring Element Equivalent Conversion, or rather, the Low-Circle Element Expression of a high-ring Spell, which was also the Principle behind the Ascension Trial.
……
The Spell Xia Duo chose to complete the Ascension Trial with was still Mage Armor. Although this Spell was not the first one he learned, it could be considered the one he applied the most.
Various variants, transformations, modifications, and fine-tuned versions emerged one after another; it could be called the root of Force Field Spells.
Of course, when it came to Force Field Spells, one had to mention Magic Missile, but for offensive Spells, Xia Duo's consistent attitude was that "good enough" was sufficient.
Any enemy he had encountered so far could not be said to be unable to be killed by 1st or 2nd Circle Magic Missiles, requiring 6th or 7th Ring ones to defeat.
If a knife cannot kill a person, it can only be said that the knife is not sharp enough or the attack position is not accurate enough, not that the force used was not great enough.
Whether as a Mage now or as an ordinary person from Earth before transmigrating, when encountering problems, his first reaction was always to consider them from the perspective of ingenuity, rather than simply piling up power.
As the Spell Circle increases, perhaps there is some improvement in ingenuity, but it is more of an improvement in energy level, which is an improvement in power (in a broad sense).
Xia Duo actually still had a very environmentally friendly philosophy; if something could be accomplished with one unit of force, he naturally wouldn't want to use two.
Of course, if his energy were infinite and he could cast an infinite number of Spells every day, he naturally wouldn't need to consider environmental friendliness or saving effort.
Just like when a super-rich person buys something, do they consider how much money is in their wallet?
Naturally, they do whatever makes them feel comfortable!
……
Unlike the environmental friendliness used for pure offensive Spells, for Protective Spells, Xia Duo's consistent approach was that they must be high-spec!
Similarly, corresponding to Protective Spells, various Spells with Spell Breaking properties must also be high-spec; this is the greatest weapon for offense, and if you don't cultivate it, you are not a Spellcaster.
Of course, Spells with Spell Breaking properties can also be considered offensive Spells in a broad sense, but they do not necessarily cause direct damage.
Only pure offensive Spells are chicken ribs; if you really break the enemy's protection, perhaps a knife or an arrow can end the enemy's life.
At least from the enemies Xia Duo had encountered so far, this was the case.
However, if he encountered some special enemies, such as Elemental Creatures, their weaknesses were completely different from those of normal flesh-and-blood creatures.
In situations where ordinary weapon attacks were ineffective, that might be where pure offensive Spells truly found their use.
……
Just as Xia Duo was immersed in calculating and deriving the Low-Circle Element Expression for the 7th Ring Mage Armor, a voice that was plain yet revealed a hint of eagerness suddenly appeared, interrupting his train of thought.
"The envoy delegation will pass through here the day after tomorrow, a total of fifteen Elves: one Senior Mage, four Elite Mages, two Sword Singers, and the rest are ordinary Elves. I will ask you one more time, are you really sure?"
"……"
Hearing the specific number of people, Xia Duo couldn't help but be stunned. An Elven Senior Mage was similar to a human Senior Arcanist, at least having mastered one 8th Ring Spell.
And he himself didn't even know a single 7th Ring Spell; unless it was a sneak attack, it was basically very difficult to kill the other party.
But even with a sneak attack, it depended on whether the other party had Protective Spells cast at all times. If the other party was like him, maintaining Protective Spells almost every moment, then it would be basically very difficult to succeed.
The Spell Breaking ability of a Drow warrior was not omnipotent either; it was not certain that it could break the other party's protection, and once an attack was made, if it failed to kill in one blow, it would be almost impossible to have another chance to strike.
